Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited spy thriller, Agent, laced with action and romance, generated massive buzz with its promotional material. Amid high expectations, the film hit screens today. Check out our review to know how it is.
P. Ramakrishna aka Rickey (Akhil Akkineni) is a hyperactive youngster who wishes to be a spy but is rejected three times by the RAW. So, he hacks RAW chief Mahadev aka The Devil’s (Mammootty) system to get noticed by him. Finally, The Devil secretly appoints him on a mission to find the action plan of God (Dino Morea) who planned something big to destroy India. Who is God? What is his relationship with The Devil? Did Vicky find him and stop his mission? What happened next? The movie has all the answers.
Plus Points:
Akhil Akkineni gets a wonderful role to perform. His character arc is designed well by director Surender Reddy, which is completely different from Akhil’s previous roles. His performance, especially in action sequences, is so good to watch on the big screen. It is a feast for fans to see Akhil in this kind of different role. Surender Reddy also unleashes the terrific dancer in Akhil. Akhil’s efforts and transformation for the role are praiseworthy.
Malayalam Megastar Mammootty gets a decent role. His character creates confusion among the audience to decide whether he is a RAW chief or a bad man. The star hero also dubs for his role which is nice.
Sakshi Vaidya looks so adorable and her scenes with Akhil are very less, but they are good enough to watch.
The first half is a feast for fans of Akhil, as his character is unpredictable. He is crazy and his actions are enjoyable throughout the first half. His interaction with Minister Jayadev (Sampath Raj), and the fight sequence before the interval are whistle worthy.
Minus Points:
The story is a bit predictable. Vakkantam Vamsi should have taken proper care in writing the story at least in an engaging manner in the second hour. The screenplay, which is nice in the first half, runs on a slow note in the second half. This will make one feel boredom.
The second half is a big letdown for the movie as it is not much engaging as the first half. The climax portion looks so silly. The emotional part didn’t work well in the second half.
The villain character played by Dino Morea is good but the director should have shown a better reason to say why he is against India.
Also, many characters have nothing to do with the movie. For instance, there is no need of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in this film. Murali Sharma, Anish Kuruvilla, and others are just limited to only a few scenes.
The action sequences are designed well but the VFX is so poor and to be honest, many mid-budget films have had better VFX. Also, the songs’ placement is bad. They become a hurdle.
Technical Aspects:
Director Surender Reddy succeeded in utilising the full potential of Akhil. He showcased him so well and unleashed the mass angle of the actor. However, he failed to narrate the story well in the second half, which needs to be quite engaging after a good first half.
The cinematography by Rasool Ellore is okay and so is the music by Hiphop Tamizha. The editing could have been better and Naveen Nooli should have trimmed off many unnecessary scenes in the second half. The production values are good.
On the whole, Akhil starrer Agent is a mediocre spy thriller. Akhil’s performance and a few action sequences are a boon to the film. The poor screenplay in the second half, some over-the-top scenes, and a silly climax portion make one feel boredom. If you are an action-movie lover, you can give this film a watch this weekend.

Agent Review – Not Wild, Disaster Ride
OUR RATING 1.75/5
CENSOR U/A, 2h 36m
When a former agent, nicknamed God, goes rogue and forms a syndicate, an unlikely recruit, Ricky ( Akhil ), comes from nowhere to save the day. How do Ricky and Mahadev (Mammootty) develop a relationship? What is Mission Rabit, and where does the love angle fit amidst all these forms the movie’s overall story.
Performances
After two soft movies back to back, Akhil returns to larger-than-life action fare with Agent. He sports a six-pack and has a different hairdo making him look stylish and cool on screen. We can all see the physical effort for sure.
When it comes to acting, Akhil gets a whacky, wild characterisation in Agent. It is a mixed bag, as only bits and pieces of it work. Some might like it more (depending on individual preference), but even then, it doesn’t work in its entirety.
The reason is Akhil fails to impress in the bigger mass moments. The challenges with the villain, the warning, the intensity in heavy scenes, and the loudness associated with commercial cinema, in general, are where Akhil is yet to arrive. Leaving those moments, the lighter scenes show a visible improvement, and the lively body language is a positive sign. Akhil also tries Telangana slang in parts, which is okay. Agent, therefore, shows the actor as a work in progress where one can see what is working and what isn’t.
Sakshi Vaidya lacks a big-screen presence for a commercial outing. Apart from looking glamorous and having few romantic scenes with the hero, she has nothing much to do. Even here, she is unremarkable. The fact that she goes missing in the second half and one doesn’t care says a lot about the act and the character in the movie.
Surender Reddy of Kick and Dhruva fame directs Agent. A spy thriller with lots of action is right down the alley of the director, known for stylish action fares.
The opening stretch, establishing the world of Agent, and the set-up simultaneously highlight its utterly routine premise. It is a spy genre movie, and the director picks all the recent past tropes associated with those flicks.
The only difference in Agent from countless other films of the genre is Akhil’s characterisation. It bears the mark of Surender Reddy . Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as well as he would have imagined.
The poor writing and scenes are to be blamed. The love track involving the lead pair bears the burnt. It fails to provide fun and entertainment. The forgettable songs and their picturisation only add to the woe.
It is only towards the interval that some sort of high is felt. The action block has parts showing us what could have been with Agent when things go right. Some bits and pieces are sure to impress fans and action movie lovers. But, they are a minor glimpse, only raising the hopes for the second half.
Sadly, post-intermission, things go downhill from the start. The action scenes are lengthy and tiring. As if they were not enough, the drama lacks depth and intensity. The miscasting shows as the villain’s over-the-top and illogical acts feel unconvincing.
So, you have a situation where the action doesn’t work for an action movie. It looks clumsy and tiring. The quirkiness to differentiate Agent from others fails. The writing disappoints, bringing the silliness to the fore instead of making it look crazy and wacky. And lastly, the drama lacks bite. In short, Agent fails on all counts.
The pre-climax and climax are too loud and over the top, which makes one look drained out by the time the movie ends.
Overall, Agent is a misfire from Surender Reddy—lacking conviction and glaring shortcomings in providing fun and action, shows. Agent is a wild ride indeed, but a tiring and exhausting one leaving one with all sorts of aches.
Agent has a few known faces playing key roles, but one can’t help but feel if they are miscast or unnecessary for the part. Mammootty immediately comes to mind when we think of the latter. It is a role that any prominent character actor could play. He doesn’t look convincing in the over-the-top action set-up. The same is the case with Dino Moreo playing the villain. The second half makes things obvious. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is wasted in an insignificant role. Sampath and Sathya are alright.
Surender Reddy usually has good taste in music, and his combination with Hip Hop Tamizha previously resulted in a chartbuster album and memorable background score. Agent has none of those, as the album disappoints big time. The background score is alright in parts but mostly is loud and lacks uniqueness.
Rasool Ellore’s cinematography is satisfactory. Some parts could have been better and given a vibe of being shot long ago. Naveen Nooli’s editing is alright. The action needed better execution as it looked clumsy on screen, especially the fight scenes in the second half. The writing is poor.

Agent Movie Review by M9News
Agent is a wild ride, as Surender Reddy promises, but not in the desired way. It lacks the fun (action, entertainment) and exhausts the patience. Akhil tries his best, but only bits and pieces work. The wait for the true launch continues as Surender Reddy fails to deliver.
First Half Report:
Agent has an utterly routine ‘Spy’ genre premise and setup and the first half. The difference maker is Akhil and his characterization. It elevates what otherwise would be a normal interval block. The second half is extremely critical now.
— Agent started with an introduction to the syndicate mafia that held control over the nation. In a brief action sequence, Ricky (Akhil) was introduced.

Unconventional casting of Sakshi Vaidya
According to reports, Surender Reddy discovered Sakshi through her Instagram profile, which caught his attention due to her striking looks and impressive body of work. Despite not having any prior experience in mainstream cinema, Surender Reddy was confident that Sakshi had the potential to deliver a standout performance in 'Agent.' He was convinced that her natural talent and dedication to her craft would make her a perfect fit for the role he had in mind. Sakshi was reportedly overjoyed when she received the offer to star in Agent. She felt grateful to Surender Reddy for believing in her abilities and giving her the opportunity to showcase her talent on the big screen. She has been working hard to prepare for the role.

"Agent" is a spy action thriller film starring Akhil Akkineni in the lead role. The film is directed by Surender Reddy. Upon its initial release, the film received poor reports from critics and audiences alike, indicating that it did not meet expectations. ''Yes, I am making my debut for the Telugu film industry, and I do feel like a debutant for this audience because this audience is aware of me but has not really seen me. They are mostly only used to seeing Telugu films. For instance, yesterday I was promoting the film in a place called Warangal. These are small towns and that's how they promote films over here. There were about 10,000 people who had just come for a pre-film release event, and it was insane. The love they have for cinema there is just nuts. Yes, I am nervous and I do feel like a debutant. 'Agent' review
Surender Reddy’s 'Agent' is a hard film to sit through. The way the narrative unfolds, it truly seems like the makers believe they’re offering us a novel story, when they’re really not. Right from the get-go, you’re thrown into chaos and while it all seems interesting on paper, the execution feels half-hearted.
Dino Morea on preparing his role
"Not really. We just wanted to bring our own madness in, and acting wise, my director again knew exactly how he wanted me to play this character. Surinder sees the whole film in his head. I saw it a certain way, but he saw it in a different way. To be honest, I went with his vision because, ultimately, he knows exactly what the audience loves to watch. The acting I did in Empire is far different from the acting I have done here. And I am quite curious to see how it turns out in terms of the audience reaction. I am assuming they will like it because Surinder makes commercial films and he knows exactly what the audiences want. So I just submitted myself completely to the director, and said, "You tell me what you want, and I will give it to you."

Dino Morea on working with Akhil
He's young and he's got so much energy. His fitness levels are great, and he's looking great in the film. Besides working, our off-screen camaraderie is also outstanding. We struck up a really good friendship. The experience of shooting this film has been fantastic. They really made me feel welcome because this is my debut film in Telugu. I totally respected and loved the experience.
Dino Morea on working with Mammootty
This is my second film with Mammootty sir. I did a small part in a film called ‘Kandakonden Kandakonden’, a Tamil film, long ago, and that was my first experience working with him. I am now working with him after about 18–20 years. We all know that Mammootty sir is one of the finest actors we have in this country, so watching him on set was an absolute pleasure. Doing scenes opposite him and with him is just outstanding because our characters oppose each other in this film, and for me, I felt it was always a challenge. I wanted to prove myself and just be fantastic in front of him. So while watching and observing, I was also trying to get better, and that just brings out the best in every actor.
Urvashi Rautela on 'Agent's 'Wild Saala'
Urvashi Rautela, who is Bollywood's youngest superstar, has always amazed the audience with her scintillating beauty and acting prowess. Urvashi with her sizzling dance moves has gifted the Bollywood industry with some popular dance steps. With her talent and beauty, it's no wonder that she continues to be one of the most popular actresses in the industry. Urvashi and Akhil's song Wild Saala has been released and in just a few hours the song has created a buzz over the internet.
Non-theatrical rights of 'Agent'
According to reports, it has been stated that Akhil Akkineni's movie "Agent" has sold its non-theatrical rights for a whopping 33 crore rupees long back. Non-theatrical rights typically include digital and satellite rights, which can be a major source of revenue for a movie. This amount indicates a significant interest in the movie from buyers and suggests that the movie is expected to do well at the box office. With this huge sale of non-theatrical rights, the expectations from the movie have further increased.

CBFC raises eight objections after censoring 'Agent'
According to a recent report, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has raised eight objections after censoring the movie 'Agent. The board has muted a few cuss words used in the film to comply with the regulatory guidelines. However, this is not the only change made to the movie. The CBFC has also blackened a couple of violent scenes in the spy action thriller, led by Akhil Akkineni, to ensure that the film does not have any negative impact on the audience. The movie, which features Urvashi Rautela in the song 'Wild Saala,' has been awarded a U/A censor certificate, indicating that parental guidance is recommended for children below the age of 12 years. The report further mentions that the movie has a runtime of 2 hours 36 minutes or 156 minutes. Agent is a highly anticipated spy thriller that follows the story of a young agent, played by Akhil Akkineni, who is on a mission to uncover a terrorist conspiracy. With an ensemble cast and high-octane action sequences, the movie has generated a lot of buzz among fans of the genre. However, the recent changes made to the movie by the CBFC may impact the viewing experience of some audiences.

Ram Charan's influence on Akhil’s career path
Akhil Akkineni speaks about his experience with Ram Charan, another well-known actor. Akkineni explains that Ram Charan encouraged him to wear an Ayyappa Mala, a garland worn by devotees of Lord Ayyappa, which helped him in his soul-searching journey. According to Akkineni, this period of wearing the mala allowed him to reflect on whom he is and what he wants to achieve in his career. He found clarity in his thoughts during this time and was able to answer some of the questions that had been troubling him. Akhil Akkineni's comments suggest that Ram Charan had a significant impact on his life, both personally and professionally. By encouraging him to wear the Ayyappa Mala, Ram Charan helped Akkineni to gain a deeper understanding of himself and his goals.

Dino Morea opens up about challenging shoot for 'Agent'
Actor Dino Morea has been making headlines recently with 'Agent'. The actor plays ‘The God’ in the Akhil Akkineni starrer. He recently revealed the challenges he faced while shooting for the movie, including battling scorching heat in multiple locations while wearing four layers of clothing. The film's shooting took place in various locations, including Budapest, Hyderabad, and Oman. While filming in Oman, Dino and the crew faced extreme temperatures of about 40 degrees Celsius. However, what made the situation even more challenging was that Dino had to wear four layers of clothing as per the demands of his character. He said, "Shooting in Oman was an extremely challenging experience, it was hot and my look for the action we were filming was 4 layers of clothing, and then action out in the bright Sun, I was literally baking." He also added that he was able to push through the shoot by relying on his unwavering focus on delivering his best performance. "However, the show must go on and we made it happen. It is always exciting to step out of my comfort zone, and I am thrilled to be making my Telugu debut with such an intense and daring character."
'Agent' Twitter review

‘Agent’ Movie Review
Agent Movie Review
Telugu360 Rating : 1.75/5
RAW chief Mahadev alias Devil ( Mammootty) is on a special assignment to tackle the International syndicate led by God ( Dino Morea). Ramakrishna alias Rikky alias Wild (Akhil Akkineni) is an ethical hacker whose ambition is to work for RAW. Ramakrishna uses all his tricks to get attention from Mr. Mahadev but fails largely. At some point Mahadev hires RK on special task to nab the international don. Rest of the story is why in first place the GOD turned badass? how he was confronted by ‘Wild’.
Core point of AGENT has slight resemblance to recent hindi filmPathaan. In both films Ex-RAW agents turn international mafia kingpin to unleash mayhem against India.Root cause for their change is also same in both films. In addition, in both films the heroes are the current RAW agents deployed on a foreign mission. Coming to the content, it is very amateurish right from the word go. When an international spy film is attempted, it takes a lot of budget. In this film the production values are pretty good but the story and direction are not up to the mark . Though cinematic liberty, many of the scenes make you cringe. The songs placement is unarguably worst in the recent years
Akhil has tried his best in the dual shaded Rikky role. The amateurish characterization played spoilsport to his efforts. Sakshi Vaidya as Akhil’s love interest has negligible role in the film. Mammootty as RAW chief is good. Ex- Model Dino Morea is a misfit as mafia don.
- Akhil’s getup and toned physique
- Couple of high budget action episodes
- Production Values
- Poor Script and Irresponsible Direction
- Songs and their placement
Verdict: AGENT film has a weak script double down with a bad direction and topped with worst music. Everything went wrong with this farcical action film. Akhil’s characterization backfires, Dino Morea as the villain is a miscast. It is difficult to sit through this silly film.

Agent (2023) Telugu Movie: What's Behind
King Nagarjuna's son Akhil scored a decent hit with Most Eligible Bachelor and is now on a mission to get a mass image with his spy thriller Agent. Akhil is aiming for the starts with Agent as the film directed by Surender Reddy is releasing in various languages. Akhil transformed his physique working hard for months while Surender Reddy braved the covid virus and producers overcame the spiralling budget to release the film in theatres. The action-packed teaser and trailer increased expectations on the film. Let us find out whether Akhil created a mass mania with Agent. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Sony Liv and streaming will be after the theatrical run.
Agent Movie: Story Review
Agent Story is all about a youngster who aspires to become a RAW agent and how he resolves that fight between God and the Devil. Rikki aka Rama Krishna (Akhil), is an ethical hacker dreams of becoming a RAW agent since his childhood. But he fails in his attempts to clear the exam due to his weird ways.
But a sudden turn of events finds himself interacting with the RAW chief Colonel Mahadev (Mammootty) known as Devil for his ruthless patriotism and comes to know about the God (Dino Maria) and his Mission Rabbit. To find out more about Mission Rabbit, Syndicate and how it is linked to Minister Jai Kishen (Sampath Raj) and what role Vidya (Sakshi Vaidya) played, enjoy Agent in action on the big screen.
Agent Movie: Artists Review
Akhil underwent a remarkable transformation for the role of Agent. He shed his loverboy image and showed variations in his expressions, dialogue delivery, and mannerisms. To the top of it, he enacted deadly, breathtaking, and risky stunts and action sequences. He also entertained delivering dialogues in a Telangana accent. He did everything that was required of him by the director and tried to carry the film on his shoulders. If he improves to showcase more intensity, he will reach the next level. He looked stylish and cool on the screen.
Mammootty made his presence felt with his sedate performance. Though his screen presence is good, his role did not get much elevation. Dino Maria who played the antagonist role just passed through the motions. His role looked routine. Sakshi Vaidya looked hot and gorgeous on the screen. She got limited scope to showcase her acting talent. Sampath Raj and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar got limited roles. Others like Murali Sharma, Posani Krishna Murali, and Vikramjit played blink-and-miss roles. Urvashi Rautela did a special song and she looked raunchy as usual.
Agent Movie: Technicians Review
Agent story is penned by Vakkantam Vamsi and Surender Reddy planned to showcase Akhil in a completely different avatar and present him the action hero image. Vakkantam Vamsi's story lacked originality and everything seems to be inspired by the previous spy thrillers. Vamsi failed to even live up to those inspirations from the previous films. The story turned substandard and from then on it is a downside for the Agent team.
The film never took off right from the start. Surender Reddy started the narration in a typical manner establishing the conflict and then he tried to show variation in Akhil's characterization showing him as a weird person who operates in his own way. To some extent it attracts but he did it too much and this ended up irritating the movie lovers.
With no real twists and turns in the spy thriller and a lack of emotional connection, Agent failed big time. With the story going on a predictable note and the weak characterization of the lead roles played by Akhil, Mammootty, and Dino Maria, it tested the patience of all. Many after a sedate start and routine high octane interval block that is routine, expected the story to take off to another level. However, it turned from bad to worse. Silly scenes loaded with the senseless screenplay, directionless direction, and stale script spoiled not only the second half but the entire film.
Hip Hop Tamizha's songs did not make any impact. Songs are forgettable though they are shot in a lavish manner. His background music is below average and followed the same template. Most of the time it is loud. Rasool Ellore's cinematography is good at times but most of the time it left a lot to be desired. The editing of Naveen Nooli left a lot to be desired. There are many repetitive scenes and routine flavors. Dialogues are pretty ordinary and below average. Production values of AK Entertainments, Surender 2 Cinema are lavish.
Agent Movie: Advantages
- Akhil Hard work and Sincerity
Agent Movie: Disadvantages
- Story, Screenplay, Direction
- Characterizations
- Illogical Scenes
Agent Movie: Rating Analysis
Altogether, Agent turns out to be a disaster. Akhil dedicated his entire energy and put in his heart and soul into the project. He worked strenuously for his role and even showed it on screen changing his mannerisms, and expressions completely doing away with the lover boy image. But Vakkantam Vamsi came with an atrocious and senseless story and people wonder how Akhil gave the green signal. Surender Reddy who is known for his stylish entertainers and action flicks, failed in big time with his spineless script, screenplay, and direction. He failed to elevate Akhil's heroism in his character and in turn turned it into a laughing stock. With no real twists and turns and hero elevations, entertainment and emotions. Agent's mission failed even before it began. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 Rating for Agent .

'Agent' movie review: A spy film that puts the fire in misfire
Ramakrishna alias Ricky (Akhil Akkineni), much like Karthi in last year’s Sardar has zero qualms about his family treating him like a slacker up to no good. He never provides an explanation, content with his family living in oblivion about his true aspirations.
With a cheeky grin slapped across his face, he roams around town gathering intel on suspicious people in the hopes of being noticed by the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW), where he aspires to work someday. He even audaciously attends government job exams writing on the margins of his OMR sheets that he wants a job at the RAW while declaring as a matter of fact that he is not interested in a desk job. After getting rejected thrice, he takes matters into his own hands to get his dream job one more time.
While Telugu cinema is always game for fusing real-life details of a star into the fictitious character he is essaying, the unintentional parallels displayed in Akhil seeking a coveted break in the industry after a string of unsuccessful films, against Ricky’s sincere but less-than-legal attempts to get into this country’s elite intelligence force is not lost on me. It is a little hard to explain the rest of Agent’s plot coherently, considering it flits from one point to another like a tiresome, fidgety teenager.
There is a mismatch so severe in the film’s tone, Agent feels like the body of a run-of-the-mill Hollywood spy actioner is possessed with the spirit of a politically incorrect Telugu masala film, the kind Surender Reddy and his writer Vakkantham Vamsi thrive in. Look at Ricky’s relationship with Vidya (Sakshi Vaidya), for instance. There is love at first sight on the part of the former, followed by what sounds like situations in theory, only to have that inconsequential subplot (which is only rivalled by three out-of-place romantic numbers) get hijacked by our hero winning the heroine’s heart by threatening her harasser.
Much like John Abraham’s Jim in Pathaan, you get a villain with a grudge in Agent (Dino Morea), a man who considers terrorism based on religious fundamentalism as passe. Ideologues are mere pawns for The God (Dino Morea) and his organisation The Syndicate, a secret, Illuminati-like oligopoly that control everything from government to media and beyond.
Contrast this with the way ‘Syndicate’ is used in Pushpa: The Rise . Any newfangled term in a film, irrespective of its specific connotations, is only as effective as the rest of its story. The writing of Agent, especially in its second half focuses on the unholy trinity of its three central characters — God, Devil and Ricky.
It is interesting to note that the film’s stern do-gooder is called The Devil, while the film’s antagonist is ‘The God’ here. We also get the backstory of Ricky and The Devil (Mammootty), which is pitted against the backstory of The Devil and The God.
Ricky keeps shuttling from The Devil and The God, to confusing effect. While there is some noteworthy commentary on the difference between a good student/ agent versus a bad one, all these nuanced, interpersonal dynamics never get woven into the story as they prominently should.
We instead get a film with buzzwords like floating banks and sleeper cells, like empty shells on a scorched battlefield. Cinematographer Rasool Ellore lights the film with style and aplomb, trying to make up for the film’s lacklustre story with the brightest of explosions.
Just as Agent manages to end on a sincere note on how heroes never die, on par with the film’s last act, we are also handed a post-credits sequence where the makers practically mock the film’s viewer by going, “You really thought we would kill the hero, did you? You fool.” Akhil hams his way through Agent, with the audience never quite being able to believe the ‘elevations’ he receives throughout the film.
Mammootty, while handsome and formidable, is saddled with a pithy, place card role. The film continues its streak of jarring, half-hearted executions with the way it recreates New Delhi’s RAW office in Hyderabad’s Raidurgam, which would have at least worked if they did not display a bird’s eye B-roll of the same Raidurg area when they wanted to establish the story in Hyderabad. There is a throwaway line comparing logic with magic somewhere in Agent, and the film falls short on both counts, leaving its viewer with a tedious and unmemorable experience.

Agent review: It’s mission unaccomplished!
Despite Akhil Akkineni's efforts, slow narration, boring treatment, and poor visual effects don't add value to Surender Reddy's latest directorial.

Director Surender Reddy’s much-awaited spy thriller Agent , starring Akhil Akkineni in the lead role, is finally out in the theatres today, 28 April.
The film, which went through many hurdles due to the Covid-19 lockdowns, has managed to pique the interest of audiences. Let’s see how far it succeeds in keeping them engaged and entertained.
Ramakrishna aka Ricky (Akhil Akkineni) aims to be a RAW Agent. When his repeated attempts to enter RAW fail, Ricky finally hacks RAW chief Mahadev aka Devil’s computer (Mammootty) to fall in his eyes.

Impressed by Ricky’s abilities, Devil assigns Ricky the task of taking on God, a dreaded crime lord (Dino Morea). God is against India and planning a mission to destroy India.
How Ricky takes on God and how he succeeds in destroying God’s mission against India is the story of Agent .
Surender Reddy’s mark missing
Agent has a wafer-thin storyline. Only impressive treatment and narration can keep the audience engaged with such a simple story. Unfortunately, the movie fails even in this aspect.
Added to this, routine treatment and a slow pace turn Agent into a passable fare. One wonders if is this a Surender Reddy directorial.
The director is known for coming up with interesting storylines and elevating them with racy narration and stylish presentation. All those are apparently missing in Agent !

Akhil’s efforts go in vain

Akhil Akkineni tried his best and worked hard for Agent . The way he transformed his physique and performed in action sequences and dances shows his efforts for this high-budget action thriller.
But that’s it! Every other aspect of the film is simply forgettable.

Even Akhil appears to be miscast for the role. The quirky and wild characterisation of Agent fails to impress the audience.
Mammootty is adequate as a RAW official.
Dino Morea appears on the screen after a long time in a negative role.
Apart from these three roles, no other actor has any significant role to play. Female lead Sakshi Vaidya appears in songs and a couple of romantic scenes which are in no way related to the main plot.

Technical crew lag behind
Being a high-octane spy action thriller, Agent needs the best efforts from the technical crew.
Rasool Ellore’s cinematography is fine. But visual effects fail to impress.
A poster of ‘Agent’ starring Akhil Akkineni. (Twitter)
A couple of action episodes are fine.
There are no great songs and misplacing of songs spoils the narration.
The background score by Hip-hop Tamizha is in tune with the overall feel of the movie.

Editor Navin Nooli should have cut the movie short by at least 20-30 minutes as audiences feel bored and unrelated in many scenes.
Sadly, the much-awaited Agent fails to accomplish his only mission: impress the audience.
Despite good efforts from Akhil Akkineni, one keeps wondering if this action thriller is directed by Surender Reddy.

Agent: Ahead Of Akhil Akkineni Film's Release, Here's A Heads-Up About The Plot, Cast, Trailer & Review!
Agent is Akhil Akkineni's latest spy action thriller, helmed by Surender Reddy. The movie is hitting the screens all over the world on April 28.
Starring Bollywood actor Dino Morea as the antagonist, marking his Telugu debut, the movie has been in production for a very long time. Veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty is roped in for a crucial role in the movie.
Agent's Story
Written by Vakkantham Vamsi, Agent is the story of three RAW Agents- Rikki, The God, and Colonel Mahadev. Two Agents are trained exceptionally well by Colonel Mahadev (played by Mammootty) and are an asset to the department. However, one of them is wronged by the system and turns out to avenge it. The other agent is then commissioned to bring him down.
Ever since the filmmakers released the film's theatrical trailer, Agent has made a decent impact on the fans and film buffs. The visuals, VFX, cinematography, colour scheme and the make over of Akhil with a chiselled body has amplified the expectations on Agent. A spy thillers are not made quite often in Tollywood and to watch one such on the big screen with high-technical and production values, coming from a director like Surender Reddy is exciting.
Check out Akhil Akkineni's Agent trailer here:
Agent's Cast
Akhil Akkineni will be seen in the role of Ricardo Singh AKA Rikki. Mammootty is playing the character of Colonel Mahadev and Dino Morea as The God. Sakshi Vaidya, the film's female lead played the role of Vidya. Vikramjeet Virk, Denzil Smith, and Sampath Raj played other important roles in the film. Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela appeared in a special song 'Wild Saala.'
Agent's Crew
The movie's cinematography was rendered by Raool Ellore except for a song which was canned by George C Williams. Navin Nooli worked as Agent's Editor. Hiphop Tamizha composed the film's background score and tunes except for a song that was tuned by Bheems Ceciroleo.
Rambrahmam Sunkara, Ajay Sunkara, and Pathi Deepa Reddy produced the movie under the AK Entertainments banner, in association with Surender 2 Cinema.

Agent Review: Saala Totally Boring
Movie: Agent Rating: 2/5 Banner: AK Entertainments, Surrender2Cinema Cast: Akhil Akkineni, Sakshi Vaidya, Mammotty, Dino Morea, Sampath Raj, Urvashi Rautela and others Story: Vakkantham Vamsi Music: Hiphop Tamizha DOP: Rasool Ellore Editor: Naveen Nooli Action: Vijay Master, Stun Siva Producer: Rambrahmam Sunkara Directed by: Surender Reddy Release Date: April 28, 2023
"Agent" has created a lot of hype as it is one of the most expensive action thrillers in Tollywood. Akhil too underwent a physical transformation and worked on this film for nearly two years.
Let's find out whether director Surender Reddy and Akhil's confidence in this subject paid off.
Story: Ricky (Akhil) has aspired to be a RAW agent since childhood. He tries and fails numerous times to join RAW. He worships RAW Chief Mahadev, also known as Devil (Mammootty).
Mahadev believes Ricky would be an appropriate agent to finish off God (Dino Morea), who has been running a syndicate to take control of all businesses in India. Devil is a rogue former agent.
Will Mahadev's plans come to fruition?
Artistes’ Performances: Akhil Akkineni not only underwent a complete physical transformation for the role of a spy, but he also played it with great ease. He gives everything as a 'wild' agent. His dedication to this film is evident, despite the fact that his character is poorly written.
Sakshi Vaidya, a newcomer, has good looks, but she only appears in two songs and two scenes. That's all.
Mammootty, a legendary Malayalam superstar, is fantastic as a RAW agent. He adds gravitas to the otherwise dull proceedings.
Bollywood star Dino Morea is well-cast as the antagonist God, but the role lacks any strength.
Technical Excellence: The film is billed as the most expensive film for a mid-level hero, with high production values and plenty of action stunts. A lot of money appears to have been spent on action thrills. Rasool's cinematography is adequate.
Hiphop Thamizha's music, on the other hand, doesn't add much to the film. It's easily forgotten.
The writing is inadequate. Another flaw is the editing. Visual effects look cheap despite spending a lot of money.
Highlights: Akhil Akkineni’s efforts Mamootty Pre-interval episode
Drawback: Clumsy second half Laughable climax Formulaic writing Lousy Songs
Analysis "Agent" is a spy thriller that follows the standard Hollywood action thriller template. There is no story per se, though Vakkantham Vamsi is credited with writing one. This film appears to have been hashed, taking scenes and elements from a slew of Hollywood spy thrillers. This is precisely the issue with "Agent" - a lack of a coherent story to tell.
Dino Morea, a Bollywood actor, plays a villain in the film. The real villain in this film, however, is writer Vakkantham Vamsi, with director Surender Reddy serving as a sidekick. Both have blown it spectacularly.
The film begins on a high note with RAW operations, and Mammootty's stylish and intriguing acting keeps us glued to it for a while in the initial setup despite some yawn-inducing sequences involving Akhil and the heroine Sakshi Vaidya, as well as other scenes in the first half.
To be fair, the first half of the film is a typical masala Telugu film. The second half, on the other hand, is completely clumsy. Not only is it ridiculous, but it also gives you a headache by the end.
Hero Akhil has worked hard and appears to have blindly followed whatever the director demanded. However, his efforts have been completely in vain, as the director and writer have failed to produce interesting proceedings. The only scene in the film that piques one's interest is the one between Akhil and Sampath Raj before the interval.
In the later sections, the female lead Sakshi is nowhere to be found. She appears only in a "Govinda Govinda" song. Is the song a metaphor for the film's direction (Govinda Govinda)?
Guns blaze, bullets fly through the air, Akhil bares his sculpted body, a lot of money is spent on visual effects... but, nothing enhances the film's impact.
“Agent” is another example that “action” elements do not add much value without a solid script.
All in all, “Agent,” in an attempt to present it as a wild and wacky spy thriller, turns out to be messy. The departments of writing, direction, songs, and editing have competed with each other in dishing out boring output.
Bottom line: Govinda Govinda Ji

Ricky is an ethical hacker who aspires to join the RAW at any cost. He dreams of impressing the chief of the RAW, Mahadev, aka The Devil. Ricky hacks into Mahadev’s system to impress him. During the interrogation, Ricky explains why he hacked into the system and convinces Mahadev to recruit him. Mahadev sends him on a mission to capture The God, an ex-RAW agent who has gone rogue. The rest of the movie focuses on how Ricky attempts to capture ‘The God’ and how this suicide mission changes his life and perspectives.
Star Performance
Mammootty as ‘The Devil’ brings about the viciousness and stone-cold attitude his character demands. He rolls past his role smoothly, like always. Akhil Akkineni has put in a lot of effort for the character. Dino Morea also does a decent job with his part.
What could have been something new and fresh became the same as always, and maybe even worse. The movie Agent summed up in a sentence will look like this. Everything about the movie is chaotic, right from the names of the characters to the whole plot. Ricky is wild, but the audience knows this only when others refer to him as wild and never really gets a chance to witness it. His unpredictability and craziness are never shown on the screen, making the movie as predictable as any spy movie could be. Even the romantic track runs dry and feels like a time-pass just to uphold the action. There is not enough screentime or space for Sakshi Vaidya to prove she is more than simply a cute heroine. The songs and their placements are unbearable and feel useless. The background music also fails to add effect to the screenplay. The camera work is good, but the VFX is painful to watch. With the budget they had, Surender Reddy could have done more justice to the VFX. Akhil Akkineni surely has put in effort for the role, but the script fails him. Mammootty breezes past his role as usual, and Dino Morea have tried to bring an identity to his character, Dharma.
What’s There?
- Action sequences.
- Familiar elements that a spy movie has.
What’s Not There?
- Absence of a good script.
- Screen space for characters is not there.
- Explanations for some scenes are not there.
- A good VFX.
The absence of a good script and novelty leads to the downfall of this movie. Most departments fail to do their job, bringing out the worst. The film lacks originality and relies solely on the action element, and the song placements seem unnecessary. The audience cannot emotionally connect with the characters, making the film a one-time watch at the most.

Om Bheem Bush Review In Telugu:

123telugu.com Rating : 2.5/5. Starring: Akhil Akkineni , Mammootty, Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya. Akhil Akkineni's much-awaited spy thriller, Agent, laced with action and romance, generated massive buzz with its promotional material. Amid high expectations, the film hit screens today. Check out our review to know how it is.
Agent: Directed by Surender Reddy. With Akhil Akkineni, Mammootty, Sakshi Vaidya, Dino Morea. A spy with a mysterious past, who is on a mission to uncover the truth about a dangerous terrorist organization.
The word 'wild' is to Agent what 'Padhagattam' was to Acharya (2022). The film inundates us by injecting this word into our brains in varying degrees. On a scale of the female lead (Sakshi Vaidya) using 'Wild saale' as a compliment in a meet-cute interaction, to a bruised Akhil screaming at the enemy, "Saale nahi, wild saale bol!", the effect is the same: it's laughably annoying.
