Studying Event Management at the University of Liverpool will equip me with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in this exciting field. I am particularly interested in learning the financial, planning and management aspects involved in running successful events. Additionally, the opportunity to study English will enhance my learning and help me achieve my goal of working for an international event management company.

To complement my studies, I plan to apply my learning through an internship. This will allow me to gain practical experience and demonstrate to future employers my ability to translate theory into practice. The university’s part-time program is ideal as it will enable me to balance work and study. I understand pursuing this path will require me to move to another country, but I have demonstrated my ability to adapt to new challenges during my time as an au pair in the United States.

My experience as a 12-year handball player has developed my ability to work in a team and lead when needed. I have also worked for two years in a fast-food restaurant where I learned to work under pressure in a high-volume, customer-centred environment. I am dedicated and committed to achieving my goal of becoming an event manager.

I have a proven track record of providing leadership and managing teams across various industries. I take a creative approach to managing events and building networks which has enabled me to consistently meet and exceed targets. I am currently looking to further advance my career in a role that maximizes my progressive approach to management and continued professional development.

I hold myself to the same high standards I expect of others. I have worked hard to gain the skills and knowledge to surpass expectations in every role. I am now looking for an opportunity to continue progressing in my career, utilizing my proactive and creative approach to problem-solving to meet targets in a new professional role. I conduct myself professionally, take responsibility for my work, and am well-organised, punctual and respectful. I thrive in fast-paced work environments, enjoy challenges and competition, and have good business acumen which I leverage to achieve success in my roles. I am a motivated, hardworking and trustworthy individual looking for a career where I can continue learning and developing.

Events Personal Statement

I have always been an extremely social and outgoing person with a natural ability to organise and lead. The idea of coordinating entertainment for large groups of people excites and inspires me, which is why I want to pursue a career as an events manager. An events management course will provide me with the knowledge and experience to succeed in this field. While living in Bath has limited my exposure to large events, it has intensified my desire to pursue an adventurous and rewarding career in events.

To gain relevant experience, I have begun organizing and hosting private and public events at local venues. With over a year of experience and a growing passion for the industry, I believe I have the motivation, skill, and work experience to excel as an events manager. My A-level studies in Media, Film and Photography have also developed my time-management, production, and presentation skills which will benefit me in this course.

Before applying for university, I took a gap year to travel and work. I currently handle marketing and advertising for a home furnishings company, collaborating with interior designers and overseeing various projects from start to finish. My role encompasses website management, promotion, advertising, budgeting, and staff management. This experience will aid my events management studies and career. My education, work experience, and active social life have provided me with a range of valuable skills to succeed in this course and career.

In addition to my studies and work, I lead an active lifestyle, regularly exercising and playing for my rugby team. I am a reliable, enthusiastic, and determined person eager to study events management. There is an increasing demand for event managers to organize diverse events. Events management spans small local events to large conferences. My interest in events began in my youth and grew during a work experience placement at a hotel. I achieved a distinction in a Level 3 Travel and Tourism course, and now want to continue my education to start a career as an events manager.

The Travel and Tourism course enhanced my understanding of the sector’s career opportunities and operations. The modules on marketing and airports were particularly insightful. My studies improved my confidence, interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. I am a responsible, mature, and committed student determined to succeed. Balancing my studies and sports developed strong time-management skills which will benefit my university studies. I aim to complete a degree in events management .

Extract of sample "International Events Management at University of Surrey"

The paper “International Events Management at the University of Surrey" is a sapid version of a personal statement on management. The world is actually advancing fast in the field of events management at the global level. It, therefore, becomes necessary to have a broad and polished worldwide outlook in international events management. One of the best institutions that offer well-trained events organizers through detailed training and examining is the University of Surrey. The school has been said to offer some of the best modules that make it easy for learners to understand the operations of the events industry with ease as they learn how to plan and manage different world-class events.

The university has also been said to give out opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills that relate to the international events industry and provides an opportunity to learners to know how to handle the different problems that organizers face in their professional world today. It is on the above aspects that I hope to acquire my master’s degree in international events management from this university to get firsthand information from reputable professors and lecturers who are armed with reliable events management skills and knowledge plus an unbeaten experience in the events managing the industry.

I am hopeful that on completing the course that in most cases is challenging, needs a lot of creativity and requires real-world assessments, I will be in a position to make designs, plan, organize for staging and finally evaluate different events. I also believe that I will have acquired the relevant experience needed to carry out live events by myself. From my childhood years, I was inspired to pursue a career in events management that was drawn from some of the excellent media shows that in most cases hosted well-organized shows and events from all over the world.

The passion and zeal with which the companies that hosted high profile events organized themselves and arranged the events program made me feel there was a niche in the industry that needed to be identified and come up with a better way of addressing the gap through quality education. I also gained ideas and skills related to events management through reading books and interviews done by the event organizers. I sometimes went a step further and acquired first-hand information from the organizers alone so that I get to understand the industry well.

The recognition of the events organizing people being limited by their qualifications in the industry has pushed me to make a decision to pursue this master’s degree in international events management. Most of the event organizers solely depend on their college degree and their diligence to perform their duties. On completing my studies, I hope to help them in solving the problems that they face in their professions today.I am enrolled currently for an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Reading.

In my current studies, I have attended classes in fundamental principles of economics, management, and law, technical principles of building design and construction during my first year of study. On my second year, I focused on building the modules done during my first year of study while emphasizing on the practical bit to the real construction industry. Currently, am taking modules in events organizing as it is what my heart has been yearning since my early age and I want to be one of the events organizing professionals in the near future.

Throughout my university education, I have been making good relationships and positive attitude with whom we share class and the professors who teach me too through my knowledge of the importance of good communication in the events management industry. It is through the class efforts that I have gained precious experience and knowledge that is of great use in my future events management jobs that will require the skills I develop while at school. To finalize, it is my hope that in future, with the guidance of the highly learned and experienced professors and lecturers at the University of Surrey, I will have systematically cultured my sole thinking and my research capabilities in the events management industry.

I ultimately plan to carry out my duties as a qualified events manager in the international platform being convinced that, studying together with the dedicated professors, lecturers and students in your university, I will be able to connect with informative research and get a more stable academic foundation.

Personal Statement:Tourism and events management

Insert subject personal statement.

My interest in Travel and Tourism stems from early holidays with family and friends. I have been fortunate enough to visit various cities around the world including Las Vegas, Rhodes and Frankfurt and this has encouraged me to see more of the world, experiencing as many different cultures and landscapes as possible. My sixth form studies have made me more aware of the business aspect of the industry and I would like to gain a greater insight to allow me to pursue a career in this area. Being an ambitious and hardworking individual I feel that I would be ideally suited to the growing and changing world of tourism. My Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism has allowed me to study a range of different modules. The two modules I have found most interesting were 'the business of travel and tourism' and 'customer service in travel and tourism'. Finding out the realities of how these businesses are run has been fascinating and I feel that good customer service is the key to a successfully run company. I have also attended a summer course in which I achieved Level 2 NVQ Delivery of Effective Customer Service and BSC Level 1 Award in Health and Safety at Work. This shows that I am a dedicated and motivated person that understands and aspires to have a successful future. Throughout my Travel and Tourism studies I have acquired a number of important skills. Independent research skills have been necessary to successfully complete assignments as they encourage you to search the media for certain information and statistics. Report writing and presentation skills have also been developed throughout my time at Sixth Form, both of which have helped me to achieve my target grades. Studying Psychology at A-Level has allowed me to develop skills in time management and prioritising work due to the high course content and essay based exam work. The course content has given me a better understanding of human behaviour, which will help me when covering modules on customer service and when putting this skill into practise. Working as a theatre steward and as a staff member at the Catalyst Museum has developed my skills of team working and customer service. The Catalyst Museum is a successful business that relies on the hard work and professionalism of its staff to keep its youthful target audience happy. I am currently a volunteer staff member for Rogue Events, a Europe wide events management company. As part of my involvement I have to interact with people from all over the world and help those if they have any questions or queries, ranging from customers to special guests we have at the event. As a member of the organisation team I have had to develop strong problem solving abilities to ensure that events run smoothly for visitors and have been able to gain an insight as to how the events are run including the business side.

As well as being committed to further education in my chosen career, I enjoy an active lifestyle attending different social events with my family and friends. Due to the skills I have gained I am generally the organiser of these events and I excel at the booking process including the organisation and travel arrangements. These skills also proved useful when organising personal trips throughout Europe.

In the future, I would like to complete my higher education in my chosen subject and move overseas. I am looking forward to University life and all it has to offer, and I fully intend to take advantage of the facilities and societies on offer at the University.

General Comments:

Results day came, and though i was super happy with my Tourism grade, i was a little disappointed with my Psychology. Though it was not something to worry about as Chester changed my offer to Unconditional, which meant i'd gotten my firm place in my favourite University. I start in September 2014 and i couldn't be happier.

Comments on the statement:

I spent hours upon hours researching and making this statement. I spent a good 2 weeks looking at examples on TSR, taking on points on what other people had written. I sat in my college library and looked through UCAS help guides, jotting down important information on the Dos/Don'ts when it comes to your personal statement. It was the best thing i could have done. After making my first drafts, i sent it to COUNTLESS amount of people, asking for their opinion and what they would change. After about 20 checks, i had my final draft. Letting my tutor have the last look over, it was ready to be sent off and i was more than happy with it. So my advice to people is to research as much as you can before you write, and show it to as many people you can manage.

  • Business Management Masters Personal Statement Sample

Written by Hannah Slack

This is an example personal statement for a Masters degree application in Business Management. See our guide for advice on writing your own postgraduate personal statement .

Businesses have been instrumental in building our modern way of living. The versatility and innovation of business quickly captured my attention when I started my first job, and my interest has only continued to grow. Having undertaken various work experience roles and achieved a 2.1 in my undergraduate degree, I intend to further my education through a Masters. My main interests lie in strategic management and marketing as I enjoy learning new methods for existing and succeeding in an increasingly globalised market.

I have always been a self-motivated worker who is not afraid of a challenge. I am particularly drawn to management and marketing roles as they are often fast paced environments, involving different tasks and decisions each day. They also allow for a healthy balance between both independent and group work, which I believe is vital to running a successful business with engaged staff. My undergraduate work placement in an international marketing company enabled me to first-hand experience the fast-paced and efficient work style of successfully competing companies. I was also able to understand more about how to plan and manage a large staff force to make sure the business can perform and compete at optimum levels. Furthermore, last year I had a part-time job in a small local business which enabled me to learn and develop valuable skills in growth and future planning which are vital during the early stages of a young business.

In addition to my qualifications and work experience, I am a keen basketball player and often represent my club at the local leagues. Both my successes and failures in sporting competitions demonstrate my constant desire to improve and my determination to continue even in times of failure. I have also had the opportunity of being a team captain and coaching younger league games. Both roles allowed me to develop my leadership and strategy planning skills.

I am applying to your university because it offered the best array of modules for me to both improve my knowledge in my current interests and explore new areas of Business Management I am less familiar with. I was also particularly impressed by the wide array of connections the department has that will guarantee each student an invaluable work experience opportunity. I believe that your university will be the best institution to take my education to the next level and enable me to compete effectively as a strong candidate after graduation.

I think that I will be an excellent fit for your department as I enjoy involving myself in extracurricular activities. I am therefore excited to apply for leadership roles in the some of the postgraduate clubs and organisations the department offers. And, if the opportunity presents itself, I would be interested in creating and running my own project with my fellow peers.

BSc International Business Management Personal Statement Example 1

I look forward to studying for a BSc in International Business Management because I think the challenges of a future career in management in a rapidly changing environment excite me. My visits to Europe have made me aware of the importance of international issues and their necessity in today’s modern global economy.

At the GCSE level, my interest in entrepreneurship began when I was fascinated by businesses’ real-life struggles to remain solvent. Inspired by entrepreneurs who have turned small companies from start-ups to multinational corporations, I am determined to follow in their footsteps.

My A-Level ‘Applied Business’ course has allowed me to apply business theories in real-life settings, such as recruiting college students. I have developed communications skills through giving presentations, contributing to teams, and learning the importance of time management and prioritising tasks.

I have shown persistence and dedication to completing tasks to a high level. Furthermore, I have taken an active role in devising solutions to problems. From A-level Maths Statistics, I have gained the ability to solve problems independently without asking for help.

As well as increasing my knowledge of geography and French, I’ve learned that it is essential to understand how different cultures operate and that businesses must adapt to local conditions to succeed. I’ve also become better at planning and prioritising tasks, and I can now write essays and speak French fluently.

The ‘Young Enterprise Programme’ at college allowed me to take charge of a business venture. I learned how to manage people effectively, negotiate contracts and deal with problems. I also learnt to be diplomatic but to remain positive and determined.

When faced with obstacles, I remained optimistic and focused because I believed it was the only thing that would help us succeed. We made a profit of £1,200 selling personalised hoodies.

I am Chair of XYX, a charity fighting bullying in primary schools. My role involves organising events and making decisions. As part of the organisation, I help others design, carry out and evaluate activities and maintain good working relationships.

At ABC Optimus Services, I worked under the supervision of a senior manager and shadowed him for three weeks. During this time, I was introduced to various aspects of business management, including how large companies operate, negotiate contracts, evaluate employees, and manage projects. I also received training on the skills and characteristics needed to be successful in a leadership role.

As part of my Language Studies course at university, I have been interning in Bamie, a small local store in Germany. It has given me an insight into working in different types of stores and different cultures. I look forward to doing a placement year abroad as part of studying languages next year.

On top of that, I have helped at a Bencap Christmas party, sold fair trade products, collected for Christian Aid, marshalled the Faraday carnival downhill run, and ran in the ReachOut stretch.

My experience has taught me that I am good at managing people; I am organized, objective, practical, and quietly driven. These qualities have helped me become more open-minded and are a solid foundation for pursuing this degree.

Personal statement - msc international management share.

  • 12 May, 2013

I am keen to pursue MSc International Management at University of Brighton. By researching the course curriculum available at university website, I become to know that this course helps students to develop the global business knowledge which will help me to achieve my future career goal. Moreover, I believe getting a chance to pursue my study career in thisUniversity will progress me both professionally and intellectually. Besides the opportunity to apply my theories and ideas in practice will benefit me to enhance my skills and to achieve a deeper understanding of the field of InternationalManagement.

According to my research I have found that this course will be the perfect opportunity for me to continue to hone my communication and management skills, empowering me to be a more powerful and confident leader. Through hands-on exercises and projects designed to closely mimic those that I will encounter in my future career, this program will provide me with the accurate training and preparations I need to handle such tough challenges in the future. I believe this MSc will provide me with the knowledge of business concepts as well as the understanding of the matters that I will need to become a successful business professional. Intuition alone is not good enough to run a business. I believe that a strong business education is very crucial to successful business management in this Modern age, for this reason I hope to be able to acquire an MSc International Management. Moreover, my previous academic qualifications will give me an upper hand to obtain better score in this course. If I can successfully complete the course, it will create a platform for me to explore different career opportunities such as Policy advisor or analyst, Management analyst, public relations (PR) account executive and Compliance officer. For this reason, this MSc International Management will be the right choice for my future career progression.

Following my SSC and HSC I studied Bachelor of Business Studies from National University, Gazipur, Bangladesh in May 2012. Then I studied Master of Business Administration in HRM from Southeast University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in September 2014. Later on, I started my working career as a HR officer at Nassa Group in December 2014. I am still working with this company, and it was really a fascinating experience for me to work with them. My work experiences have led me to identify all my potentials including my strengths and weaknesses. I have also come to understand the need to be well equipped with the knowledge in the field of business. For this reason, I have decided to continue my further study with this course at University of Brighton. As I have gained a lot of experiences it will be easier for me secure a suitable position in if I have this degree.

University of Brighton offers International Leadership and Management, International Logistics and Finance, Sustainable Strategic Management, Managing Organisational Behaviour, Marketing in an International Context, Research Methods for master’s degrees and Management Integration OR Work Experience. Moreover, I will also have an opportunity to study some of the optional modules which include Entrepreneurship and New Venture Planning, Consultancy or Business Solutions in Action. All the modules are highly demanding and suitable in today’s business world.

I am determined to continue my study in this course in the UK as the study environment in my country is quite different and we get to study with only the national students. Furthermore, the political chaos makes it harder for students to get the degree without any delay. On the other hand, the UK has a great multicultural and diversified student community which is an opportunity for me to learn with lot of students from different nationalities. UK education brand is highly respected by employers in our country as UK degree prepare graduates with academic competencies, developed personal and professional skills that are imperative for organizational success. The transferrable skills graduates carry forward from UK are pivotal for transforming organisational growth and gain competitive advantages. This is also a reason to study again in UK. In a recent Survey of International Graduate Outcomes 2019 by Universities UK International produced by iGraduate shows that 82% international graduates say that their UK degree are worth the financial investment and similar number of graduates say they are satisfied or very satisfied with their careers. Nearly 83% feel that UK degree has helped them to get jobs. These aspects have driven my ambition to gain the degree from a UK institution.

The University of Brighton is a public university dependent on four campuses in Brighton and Eastbourne on the south shoreline of England. Brighton University is known all through the world as a result of its great courses and dedication to instruction quality and execution. It has a boundless number of excellent mentors where I can arrive at the equivalent precise top-quality training. Moreover, The University of Brighton is ranked as a top 5 university for world-leading research impact in business and management studies (REF 2014). I can discover my desired course I need in this University. University of Brighton is one of the first UK universities which use Job Teaser, a new online placements system presenting placement options in the UK and Europe, which gathers together all the job opportunities, events and resources I will need to help me with my professional development. Also, I found one more unique feature which is Bee purple event that run throughout the academic year which that will improve my employability and help me grow a successful business. I will look no further if I get this opportunity to study at University of Brighton.

Whether talking about a recent news story, how you meet targets in your weekend job, or simply why you want to study business at uni, that spark of genuine motivation and enthusiasm will get you noticed. That's what business admissions tutors told us when we asked them what they look for – and here are some more of their top tips.

Find out everything you need to know about writing your personal statement , including how to write a killer opening and our top tips.

A spot-on business personal statement – in a nutshell

Dr Pam Croney, admissions tutor at Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University, is especially looking for evidence of:

  • an independent learner
  • a thinker and doer
  • an innovator or potential entrepreneur
  • a good communicator who likes giving presentations
  • an interest in what's happening out there in the business world

Can you demonstrate any of these?

She also likes it when applicants give their own views on a topical issue, like why you think a particular company crashed, what sparked the revival of a vintage brand, or whatever else gets you fired up. Admissions tutors love to know what you’re genuinely enthusiastic about!

What business and management tutors are looking for

  • Structure and organisation: to study management, you need to demonstrate that you are capable of managing yourself. Your personal statement needs to be structured, organised, and free of spelling or grammatical errors.
  • First impressions count: Sue Blything-Smith, Business and Management Admissions Tutor from University Campus Suffolk, says 'you should aim to be unique and original and provide a good opening line that reveals something about your aptitude and enthusiasm’. She really likes to see statements that demonstrate personality and flair but don't go too over the top: keep it formal and remain objective.
  • Examples of your relevant skills: Sue is also impressed by applicants who describe situations where they’ve demonstrated relevant skills like good communication or teamwork, problem-solving, initiative, leadership, or achieving goals.
  • Research the course: London School of Economics is keen to know things like why you want to study management, what specific aspects of their course interest you, how it relates to your academic studies, and what additional reading or other activities have led you to apply.
  • Entrepreneurial flair: Bournemouth likes its business studies applicants to show they are 'self-starters' who enjoy identifying and solving business problems.

Making your business experience count

It’s not just what you've done but how you've reflected on it. If you work-shadowed the CEO of a multi-national company, that's great, but it will have zero impact unless you spell out what you personally gained from it.

Similarly, if your part-time supermarket job or role in a Young Enterprise programme has helped you develop your skills and confidence, that’s great too. But it will only have an impact on your statement if you explain how or give an actual example.

It's the "how" that brings your statement to life and makes it interesting and personal. So try to think of specific occasions or unique ways you have demonstrated your potential, or maybe something you've observed about customer behaviour, management styles or an effective (or ineffective) marketing campaign.

It's even better if you can then link it to something you've learned in your business, economics, or psychology studies, or read in the Financial Times, The Economist, or on the BBC website.

Or consider the transferable skills you've gained through extracurricular activities and how they can show what the University of Bath describes as 'an active interest in understanding people, work, and organisations'.

I will not let the difficult times we are all facing weaken my intentions to seek a better education for my future. I will not become complacent. I choose to remain proactive and ambitious to be better prepared for the future.

After traveling to London last year, I realized that it is a city of opportunities for young adults. The university has in place strategies to integrate students from outside the UK, both on the campus and in the business market, which you do not see in other countries. Combined with excellent facilities and the proximity to the historic financial district of Canary Wharf, I can only imagine what network opportunities are up for grabs, establishing the your university as front runner to pursue my studies

When considering a business degree, I took into account which of my translation undergraduate training expertise could be transferable to this field. Technical-Scientific Translation Practice units prepared me to be rigorous in order to avoid mistakes and be competitive in a demanding industry, and this required me to create methodologies to work faster and more effectively. Business and Commercial Translation Practice contributed to my growing interest in business studies as I gathered insights on how companies operate at the same time it motivated me to do independent research on the topics that were discussed. It also trained me to cope with pressure from clients that want the work done for yesterday.

Taking part in your International Business Management will be crucial for my understanding of the ins and outs of the global business world. I look forward to the units such as Markets and Marketing in a Digital World because these subjects are up to date with companies that need to keep up with customer consumption behaviours changes to be competitive in growing markets.

During the undergraduate, I was involved in projects as vice-president, where I was responsible for coordinating a group of multicultural students in academic-related activities where it was demanded to plan events, assure they were properly carried out, and delegate tasks to the capable individuals. The goal was their integration in the academic environment and promote inclusion in the university. This experience enhanced my organisational and leadership attributes. A dynamic I enjoyed being a part of and will seek to encounter in your university.

In terms of extracurricular activities, I am interested in your IT Society because there is a significant Information technology component in translation represented primarily by computer-assisted tools (CAT), which, is the software used to aid translators in their day to day activity, or none professionals for example: “Google Translate”, a subject which represents the future of the field. Learning new software always excites me, and those events and activities will only contribute to that.

After I finished my degree, I moved to Luxembourg, where I came across a multicultural reality I have never experienced before. The following months were filled by helping run my mother’s child care. Handling the elaboration of contracts, weekly schedules, assuring correct billing, in line with the ministry of education authorities guidelines, and also communicating with the parents who were from different nationalities, therefore, speaking different languages.

Knowing three different languages helped me in this exchange. This experience inspires me to understand further how these types of interactions work on a bigger scale, and your human resources modules would be ideal to obtain that information.

At the same time, I started working as a freelance translator. It helped me understand the importance of networking and creating strong business relations that are strengthened by hard work, commitment, punctuality, availability, and results.

I am confident I will have success in this masters because I do not expect anything to come easy, nonetheless, I am eager to be immersed in business studies, utilize every ability at my disposal to be of value to any company that my skillset is suitable for and continue to strive as I gather the information and gain experience to create my translation company, knowing that attending your university is the right first step.
