Check for a light blue highlight on your shared screen, which indicates others can see your shared Zoom screen. Click Share again to share your window.

With Zoom for the Mac, you have two options for sharing your iPad/iPhone screen: wirelessly or via a wire.

Before you attempt to share your iPad’s screen, there are a couple of things to be aware of:

  • Your iPad/iPhone and Mac must be on the same network.
  • Zoom client for Mac 3.5.27094.0918 or later.
  • This only works with the following iOS devices: iPhone 4 or later; iPad; iPad mini, 4th generation or later

Your iPad will connect, be displayed on your computer screen, and shared with your meeting. You can interact with your iPad as usual.

You must connect your iPad directly to your Mac with the included cable (which varies depending on iPhone/iPad model).

How to screen share a powerpoint presentation in zoom.

Giving a presentation over Zoom? No biggie. You can easily present your slideshow by using the screen share feature. Here's how.

Quick Links

Grant access to share screens in zoom, screen share a powerpoint presentation in zoom.

No matter where you work, meetings all have one thing in common: PowerPoint presentations. If you use Zoom, you can easily present your slideshow to the participants by sharing your screen . Here's how it's done.

If you're the host of the Zoom meeting , you'll be able to share your screen without issue. However, if you're joining a meeting that you aren't the host of, you may need to request permission from the host to be able to share your screen.

As a general rule, we recommend that hosts disable the screen-share feature for participants by default for security reasons . If you aren't the host of the meeting, be sure to reach out to the host in advance to request permission to share your screen during the Zoom call. Hosts can always enable the feature during the call, but it's always good to be a step ahead.

If you're the host of the meeting and someone is requesting permission to share their screen during the meeting, click the up arrow next to "Share Screen" at the bottom of the window.

In the menu that appears, click "Advanced Sharing Options."

The "Advanced Sharing Options" window will appear. In the "Who Can Share" section, click the bubble next to "All Participants."

All participants in the meeting can now share their screen.

To screen share your PowerPoint presentation, go ahead and open the PowerPoint presentation that you would like to present. However, before you put the presentation in Slide Show view, you'll want to share your screen. At the bottom of the Zoom meeting window, click "Share Screen."

If you're using a single monitor, you will immediately start sharing your screen. If you're using dual monitors , you'll need to click the screen that your presentation will be shared on. In our case, that will be "Screen 2."

To begin sharing that screen, click "Share" at the bottom-right corner of the screen select window.

You're now sharing your screen. Now, in Microsoft PowerPoint, select the "Slide Show View" icon in the bottom-right corner of the application.

From here, deliver your presentation as though you were standing in front of a live audience.

If you are giving a big presentation through Zoom, you're not going to just jump straight into it. You may need to speak to the audience a bit before sharing your screen. If so, here are a few tips on how to look better on your Zoom call .

Troubleshooting, how to share screen with zoom on iphone & ipad.

How to Share Screen with Zoom

If you’re using Zoom meetings for teleconferencing, you may find it useful to know how you can share the screen of iPhone or iPad from Zoom. This can be helpful for many reasons, whether to go over work together, show a presentation, walk through something, or any number of other purposes for screen sharing.

Zoom makes sharing the screen of iPhone and iPad quite easy, but like anything else you need to know how it works. This article will show you how you can screen share using Zoom in iOS and iPadOS.

Although you don’t need a Zoom account to join a meeting, you’ll need one if you want to host a meeting. So, make sure you sign up for a Zoom account and simply follow the steps below to share your screen.

share presentation zoom ipad

Now that you have learned how to share screen with Zoom app on both the iPhone and iPad, you’re ready to use the feature anytime you need it.

As you may have noticed, the screen sharing feature is similar to what you’d use for screen recordings on iPhone and iPad , so if you’re already familiar with that it shouldn’t be too foreign to you.

For those who own multiple iOS devices, you can even use one of those devices to video chat and another device to screen share content with your participants. This feature could come in handy during an online lecture or presentation, or for many other purposes.

Zoom offers both free and paid subscription plans . The free plan has a 40-minute limit on group meetings and capable of hosting up to 100 participants. If you want a longer duration limit on your Zoom meetings, you’ll need to subscribe to the Pro plan that costs $14.99 a month and lets you host 24-hour meetings. Additionally, the $19.99/month business plan will let you host up to 300 participants in a single meeting.

That being said, Zoom certainly isn’t the only video conferencing software that lets you share the content on your iPhone or iPad’s screen. There are also great solutions from Google Hangouts Meet , Skype for Business, and there’s even MacOS native screen sharing if you’re on a Mac, so you can use whichever works for you for your particular needs.

Whether you’re using Zoom for online classes, work related meetings, medical, or even personal use, you may find that Screen Sharing is a great feature to add to your video conferences.

Did you successfully share your iPhone or iPad screen using Zoom? Do you use multiple iOS devices for doing your presentations, slides, and online lectures? Do you use another screen sharing solution instead? Let us know your thoughts and opinions on Zoom in the comments section down below.

It worked thx

I would love to have instructions for this part of the above article:

“For those who own multiple iOS devices, you can even use one of those devices to video chat and another device to screen share content with your participants. This feature could come in handy during an online lecture or presentation, or for many other purposes.”

Let’s say I started a Zoom meeting on my iPhone and wanted to use my iPad as a whiteboard. Is there a way to use the iPhone for the video chat and the iPad as whiteboard, sharing the iPad screen with the other meeting members? How would I do that?

Many thanks in advance!

I am curious as to whether Zoom sharing from a cloud service such as iCloud, etc listed, reduces the bandwidth I need for the share. That is, does it avoid me downloading and sharing a multi-gig video for example, over a slow cellular connection. I haven’t been able to determine this.

This app is criticized for its privacy leaks, and a lot of people already have removed this app.

Are U asleep?

Because many people use Zoom, what do you think?

Loved the tutorial on the cropping/zoom feature on IPhone which is so useful yet not readily obvious. Thanks

Using my iPhone Xs, I carefully followed your first set of instructions but after tapping on the subsequent screen did not have at the top. It showed every other choice in your screenshot, just not the first one .

I am having the same issue. Were you able to get this figured out?

Professionals around the world are adopting a hybrid work model. This change in work habits comes with limitations, such as no in-person meetings. However, Zoom has emerged as a savior. A free-to-use video conferencing software, it allows you to make and attend video and audio calls.

Available as a web and mobile app for Windows, macOS, Android, and iPhone, Zoom has an easy-to-use interface and allows up to 100 participants. To help you make the most, we have prepared a complete guide on how to use the Zoom app on iPhone and iPad.

How to set up the Zoom app on iPhone and iPad

How to start a new meeting on the zoom app for iphone, join a meeting using meeting id on the zoom ios app, how to host a scheduled zoom meeting on iphone, change your zoom backgrounds on iphone, how to share screen on the zoom ios app, edit personal meeting room settings on the zoom app for iphone, how to chat on zoom, use siri shortcuts to join or start a zoom meeting.

Once you have downloaded Zoom from the App Store , here’s how you can proceed to set it up on your device.

Pre-requisites

  • iOS 8.0 or above for iPhone
  • iPadOS 8 or above for iPad
  • Working internet connection with minimum 600kbps bandwidth for one-to-one calls with high video quality
  • Minimum 1.2 Mbps for HD video calls
  • 600kbps or 1.2Mbps for group calls and 1.5 Mbps for group video call

Permissions

You need to grant the following permissions to run the Zoom app on your iPhone:

  • Contacts : To make a video/audio call.
  • Location : To generate an Emergency Response Location. This location will be used as a reference while dialing emergency services from the Zoom app.
  • Calendars : Zoom will add a scheduled meeting as an event to the default calendar app.
  • Microphone : To use the microphone when joining a meeting or webinar.
  • Camera : To allow one-to-one or group video calls.
  • Photos: To send images in chat or for screen sharing during a meeting.
  • Background App Refresh: To send notifications.
  • Notifications: To notify regarding meetings, meeting invites, scheduled meetings, and more.
  • Siri & Search: To join the next meeting, view today’s meetings, and start a personal meeting by setting up Siri shortcuts.

Now that you have granted all necessary permissions, it’s time to learn more about using Zoom. Keep scrolling!

  • Go to the ‘ Meets & Chat ‘ tab.
  • Tap New Meeting .
  • Next, toggle on to start a video meeting .
  • Optional : Enable your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) to create a private meeting room and start or schedule a meeting at the specified time. (More on this later).

How to start a new meeting on the Zoom app for iPhone

Here’re some more controls to run your meeting smoothly.

  • Tap the ‘Zoom’ button at the top to get information about your meeting like Meeting ID, host name, passcode, invite link, encryption, and more.
  • To invite participants to the meeting, tap Participants → invite . You can invite contacts directly if you have granted permission to the default Contacts app or copy and share the invite link.
  • To share content in a Zoom meeting, tap Share content and choose the type of content you want to share.

Tap on the ‘Share content’ from zoom app on iPhone

Note : To leave a meeting temporarily, click the end button at the top right. You can choose ‘ end meeting for all ‘ if you are the host.

If someone has invited you to a Zoom meeting, there are two ways to join it. One is by directly clicking the shared link, and another is by using the meeting ID. Here’s how you can join a meeting using the meeting ID.

Note : The host must enable and share the meeting ID to join the meeting.

  • Launch Zoom and tap Join in the ‘Meet & Chat’ tab.
  • Enter the meeting ID and enter your name that will appear when you join the meeting.

Join a meeting using meeting ID on the Zoom iOS app

Sometimes, you might want to schedule a meeting in advance. Zoom offers an option to schedule meetings for your desired date and time. You can even schedule a recurring meeting. Here’s how:

  • Open Zoom and go to the ‘ Meet & Chat ‘ tab.
  • Now, tap Schedule .
  • Set the start time and duration .
  • Optional: You can change the default calendar for the meeting notification, use a personal meeting ID (PID), enable waiting room, and modify other additional meeting options.

How to host a scheduled Zoom meeting on iPhone

Note : A non-recurring meeting ID will expire after 30 days. However, you can restart it within 30 days.

To schedule a recurring meeting:

  • Follow the above steps and hit Repeat .
  • Now, select the suitable time interval for the recurring meeting: Every Day, Every Week, Every 2 Weeks, Every Month, or Every year .
  • Once the changes have been made for the meeting, hit Save .

If you don’t want to show your messy room while attending a meeting, Zoom offers an option to apply a virtual background. You can choose from a list of virtual backgrounds or set a custom one.

For example, you can set a virtual background with a birthday cake to celebrate someone’s birthday in the meeting, etc.

Here’s how you can change backgrounds in Zoom:

  • Start or join a meeting.
  • Tap More at the bottom right.
  • Now, choose Backgrounds and Filters .

Change your Zoom backgrounds on iPhone

Zoom is majorly used in businesses where collaborating on documents and projects is important. Hence, its screen sharing feature is helpful. You can share your screen to show its content to participants. Here’s how:

  • In a meeting, tap Share Content at the bottom.
  • Tap the screen from the list of options.
  • Select the start broadcast option.

You can also share photos, folders, or files from iCloud, Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, Box, Website URL, and Bookmark.

  • While sharing the screen, your notifications will be visible to all the participants. Therefore, I recommend enabling Do Not Disturb.
  • To stop screen sharing, tap the red-colored timer at the top left and select stop sharing.

Zoom offers a high level of customizability for meetings. You can edit settings for your meeting room while in a meeting. Tap More and select Meeting Settings .

You will get the following options:

  • Meeting Topic : You can edit the meeting topic to your liking and tell the participants more about the agenda.
  • Mute Upon Entry : Use this option to mute yourself in the meeting.
  • Play Join and Leave Sound : Toggle it on if you want to be notified via a sound when a participant enters or leaves.
  • Always Show Meeting Controls : Disabling this option will auto-hide the meeting control bar. I recommend turning it on to access meeting controls easily.
  • Show Self View : Turn it off to hide your video view from the meeting’s display
  • Show my connected time : It shows how long you have been in a meeting.
  • Touch Up My Appearance : This option uses AI to enhance your digital appearance in real-time.
  • Closed Captioning : Turning it on will provide subtitles of the in-meeting verbal communication. It helps follow the conversation easily or meet accessibility requirements.
  • Show Name when Participants Join : Enable it to display each participants’ name when joining the meeting.
  • Show non-video participants : Show or hide participant’s names or profile pictures on the Zoom Room’s display if their video is turned off.

Besides being one of the most popular video-conferencing apps, Zoom also doubles down as a messenger. You can chat with other participants in the meeting.

  • While you are in a meeting, tap More → Chat .
  • Select whom you want to send the message: everyone or a specific person .

How to chat in Zoom on iPhone

Note : You can also mute chat notifications by clicking the bell icon at the top right under the Chat tab to avoid disturbance during the meeting.

Zoom also works perfectly with Siri. If you use Siri Shortcuts daily, you will enjoy the fact that you can join or start a Zoom meeting using Siri Shortcuts. For the uninitiated, Siri Shortcuts are commands used to perform tasks by triggering custom Siri phrases or tapping a button.

Here’s how to check available Siri Shortcuts that you can use with Zoom:

Note : Before setting up Zoom Siri shortcuts, ensure that Hey Siri is enabled on your iPhone/iPad.

  • Open Zoom and tap Settings at the bottom right.
  • Tap Siri Shortcuts .
  • Join the Next Meeting: To join the meeting using Siri, you need to trigger the shortcut by saying, “ Hey Siri, Join the next meeting .”
  • View Today’s Meetings: To view your Zoom meetings for the day, ask Siri, “ Hey Siri, View today’s meetings .”
  • Start My Personal Meeting: You can start a personal meeting by triggering Siri with the following phrase: “ Hey Siri, Start my personal meeting .”

There’s also an option to change the voice phrase to trigger the action using a custom phrase. After adding the Siri Shortcuts, you can edit them or remove them from the Shortcuts app on your iPhone/iPad.

That’s it!

The hybrid work model is the new normal, and Zoom is one of the best tools to quickly adapt to the new normal. I hope that our guide on the Zoom app for iPhone or iPad helped you get the hang of it. American literature site updates, news, and commentary, using zoom on the desktop and powerpoint on the ipad: a game-changer for making my class videos.

This week, I figured out how to write on PowerPoint slides with the Apple pencil and record that in Zoom. You classroom tech wizards can skip this post because you doubtless have a far better solution, but this one was a game-changer for me. I’m writing it down for two reasons (1) possibly to help those teaching online who aren’t tech wizards with an easy method to mark up and record their lectures and (2) so I don’t forget how to do this.

Background: Last year, WSU moved from Blackboard to Canvas, which includes Panopto as a video capture suite. I dutifully took the several weeks of training in all this from WSU’s office of AOI (Academic Outreach and Innovation), but I ran into a roadblock when trying to record with Panopto. I could never trust that it would actually show just the PowerPoint, as I told it to, and when it did show the PowerPoint, it would only show the speaker’s view. AOI couldn’t solve it, and neither could I, so I went to plan B.

Plan B was Zoom, which does a great job of recording PowerPoint and a tiny picture of me in the corner, so the students know that I exist and am not exclusively, or even primarily, a disembodied voice. Here’s the process:

  • Open a Zoom meeting. Click on Share Screen, and go to the three dots that indicate more settings. Click on Record on this Computer. Note: I learned to share screen before I started recording after recording a lot of videos that began with my large concerned face clicking around to share after the recording started.

share presentation zoom ipad

2. After you record the lecture, stop recording, end the meeting, and navigate to where the recording is on your computer. On mine, it goes to the Documents – Zoom folder. I don’t edit it because (1) I don’t have time and (2) I hate those videos where every pause is edited out, leaving the viewer gasping for breath.

3. Once the .mp4 recording is available, upload it to Panopto – Upload Media.

share presentation zoom ipad

3. This will take a little while. After it’s uploaded and ready, click on Edit. Edit allows you to turn on Smart Chapters (based on the titles of your PowerPoint slides) and also to generate Automatic Captions. You can then Share the video link in other places in the Canvas course space (Modules).

share presentation zoom ipad

4. The captions and so on will take a little while to render, but that’s basically it.

Now here is the game-changer part:

When I was recording with Zoom and using PowerPoint on my desktop, I could annotate slides using the Zoom tool. But if you use the Zoom annotation tool, the annotations hang there on all the subsequent slides like decorations on a Christmas tree, unless you remember to clear them for each slide. By the end slide, the whole thing looks like a Jackson Pollock.

This latter task assumes that you can juggle four things at once–Zoom, the annotation tool, the turn-off-the-annotation tool, and your brain. It also assumes the mouse will click on these instead of balking and sulking in a corner somewhere.

Enter the iPad! If you bring up the PowerPoint on an iPad and use an Apple pencil for annotations, these problems disappear.

  • Connect the iPad to your desktop or laptop computer. I use a cable, since it’s usually more stable than AirPlay, but you could also use AirPlay.
  • Open a Zoom meeting, click on Share Screen, and choose iPhone/iPad via Cable.
  • Open the presentation in PowerPoint on the iPad and select Draw. Make sure the Apple pencil is already connected via Bluetooth.
  • Go to Slide Show – Start and begin your lecture. You can use the Apple pencil to write things (much easier than manipulating a mouse), circle, cross out, and otherwise use the kinds of emphasis and explanations available when you’re writing on a whiteboard in a physical classroom.

Best of all, once you’re finished recording and are closing the PowerPoint on the iPad, it asks you whether you want to preserve the annotations. I always say “No, in thunder,” but you could choose to keep them.

Would a whiteboard feature be easier? Maybe. I’ve tried whiteboard features like Google Jamboard but couldn’t get them to do what I wanted; also, Jamboard tended to snap itself shut at odd moments. Trusty old PowerPoint won’t quit, and it is wonderful for annotating and discussing text when you’re doing close reading.

Would a document camera be easier? I sometimes use a little inSwan USB Document Camera that I bought for teaching from home at the beginning of the pandemic, which does a good job of showing actual books. But to use that for close reading and discussing texts means switching the camera view in Zoom in the middle of the video, and it’s not necessary if you have the text already typed in to PowerPoint.

share presentation zoom ipad

So, in short: this method is easy, reliable, and fun. I can’t ask for more than that from a tool for teaching.

How to Share Your iPhone, iPad and Android Screen in a Zoom Meeting

Phone sharing screen to Zoom meeting

Zoom has quickly exploded in popularity due to its remote conferencing and video chat capabilities. While not without its share of  criticisms over privacy and security  — including  lying about data protection  —  the platform still sees millions of users meeting online, sharing screens and  collaborating together  while remote.

This guide shows you how to share your iPhone, iPad and Android screen  so others can see it  in a Zoom meeting. You can do this in two ways: Method 1 uses only your mobile device and is limited. Method 2 gives you more flexibility to multitask, use more features and share both a computer and mobile screen (including iPhone 14) with Reflector .

If you use both a computer and a mobile device for work, your best bet is to skip to method 2 . You can share content from your mobile device while using your work computer, or you can share both  screens in the Zoom meeting  at the same time.

How to share your iPhone, iPad and Android screen in a Zoom meeting

Method 1: zoom  mobile app  .

This method only uses your phone/tablet. Multitasking is  not   available.

Open the Zoom app on your phone or tablet.

Start or join a meeting.

Tap the Share Content button.

A menu will appear listing content you can share. Tap “Screen.”

A menu on your phone/tablet will pop up to indicate where you’ll share your screen. Select Zoom.

Tap Start Broadcast. After a brief countdown, a message will let you know you are successfully sharing your screen with everyone in the meeting.

You won’t be able to see other meeting participants on screen or multitask with other apps on your device, but your colleagues will be able to see your mobile screen . This is how it will appear to them :

Share phone to Zoom natively

N o t e :   You   w i l l   o n l y   b e   a b l e   t o   s e e   w h a t ’ s   o n   y o u r   m o b i l e   d e v i c e   s c r e e n   a t   t h i s   t i m e . Zoom menus cut off parts of your shared screen in your colleagues' view.

Method 2: Use Reflector with the Zoom desktop app (multitask, more features, share better)

This method lets you share better. Multitask, use more features and facilitate meetings easier when you’re working remotely. It uses both your mobile device and your computer. Sharing this way allows you to do   all of   the following   at the same time :

  • Share your mobile device scree n (with option to share your computer screen as well) — including the iPhone 14
  • See your colleagues on  your computer video chat
  • Use your computer to take notes, browse the web and  use other apps
  • Show all parts of your shared screen — nothing is cut off from view

Use a different videoconferencing platform? This method also works with Microsoft Teams , GoToMeeting , Google Meet , Cisco Webex , Slack and Discord .

Download and install Reflector on your Mac or Windows computer.

Make sure your computer and mobile device are connected to the same wifi network.

Launch Reflector on your computer.

Open Zoom on your computer and join a meeting.

On your mobile device, open the screen mirroring/cast options and begin screen mirroring to Reflector.

Not sure how? Check these out:

  • How to Screen Mirror iPhone to Mac and Windows computers
  • How to Screen Mirror iPad to Mac and Windows computers
  • How to Screen Mirror with Android

Important: To make sure your mobile device screen shares properly, hover over your device in Reflector and click the settings cog next to the device name. Ensure "Always on Top" and "Fullscreen" are toggled off .

Reflector device settings

These must be toggled off to successfully begin sharing your device screen over a videoconferencing platform like Zoom. If you prefer, you can toggle these settings back on after  you begin presenting your computer screen.

In Zoom on your computer, click the share button and select the option to share the window labeled Reflector. It will include the name of your mobile device.

Zoom share button

Now you’re wirelessly sharing your mobile screen to your Zoom meeting. You can present from your mobile device while working on your computer screen and seeing your teammates in video chat at the same time.

Everyone will be able to see what's on your phone screen. Learn how to turn off notifications while screen mirroring.

Get Reflector today to work, share and collaborate better.

You can share your whole   desktop   so your mobile device screen and computer screen are   both   visible   to others in the Zoom meeting   at the same time. To do this, just select “Desktop 1” instead of the name of your mobile device in Step 7.

Using iPads and Zoom for Annotation

On-screen annotation using ipad and apple pencil, how to use zoom whiteboard with ipad while hosting a meeting, how to use powerpoint and zoom with ipad, additional tips.

Using an iPad to draw or annotate.

Zoom includes a built-in collaborative digital whiteboard that an instructor and students can draw on together in real-time. It works with a mouse, touchpad, or touch screen on most devices (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iPad, but NOT iPhone). This is sufficient for simple drawing or writing.

However, instructors who desire a more high-fidelity solution, for more intricate drawing and handwriting, may benefit from using an iPad and Apple Pencil with Zoom or other presentation software such as PowerPoint. This solution can replicate drawing complex figures on a classroom whiteboard or annotating over a slide presentation.

How does it work?

Join a Zoom meeting from an iPad and screen share the iPad to the Zoom meeting. Zoom for iPad has a built-in whiteboarding feature that works seamlessly with the Apple Pencil. You can start drawing on the shared whiteboard and everyone in the Zoom meeting can see it.

Alternatively, you can open your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation on the iPad, then screen-share that to Zoom. Both PowerPoint and Keynote on the iPad have drawing and annotation tools built-in so you can draw over your slides and save those annotations if desired. Google Slides does not support drawing or annotation on the iPad.

QUICK TIP – You’ll want to make sure your Apple Pencil is fully charged and also correctly paired via Bluetooth to the iPad you will use to annotate ahead of time. Older 1 st Generation iPads will require manual pairing. Newer models will automatically pair the Apple pencil to the iPad.

QUICK TIP – These On-Screen Annotation instructions apply to both live meetings AND pre-recording video content. The drawing and annotation can increase student engagement when viewing videos.

Many instructors want to share the iPad as a whiteboard while also being able to simultaneously speak and see the students in a Zoom session.  This requires the iPad PLUS another computer

Using iPad and an additional computer:

  • Join the Zoom session using your host login/ Onyen credentials from a laptop or computer
  • Use that computer for audio and video
  • Then join the Zoom session from the iPad as a separate device and select “SCREEN SHARE”
  • Then you will be prompted for the “MEETING ID” – enter correct Meeting ID
  • Then screen share the iPad with Zoom’s whiteboard as needed
  • Use your computer and laptop for Audio and Video and iPad as a separate white board
  • Use the Apple Pencil to annotate and draw on iPad whiteboard

Using Zoom directly from iPad

  • Log into the Zoom App with your Onyen Credentials and start your desired meeting

Whiteboard sharing

  • While in a meeting, touch “Share Content”
  • Select “Whiteboard”
  • Draw with Apple Pencil

The annotation tools should appear automatically, but you can tap the pen tool to show and hide them.

Enable Multiple Participants to share Whiteboard:

  • Start your Zoom meeting as the host.

If you have simultaneous screen sharing on, multiple participants will be able to share a whiteboard at once.

Open Your PowerPoint Presentation

  • In PowerPoint, touch “Open” on the left-hand menu
  • Select your desired PPT
  • “Save a copy” locally to the iPad if loading from an online source

Log in to Zoom

  • Open the Zoom app on the iPad with your Onyen credentials

Start your pre-scheduled Zoom meeting

  • In Zoom, touch “Meetings” on the left
  • Meetings that you have created will appear here.
  • Touch “Start” on the right of your desired meeting

Share the PowerPoint to Zoom

  • While in a Zoom meeting, touch “Share Content”
  • Select “Screen”
  • Switch to PowerPoint on the iPad to present and draw from within PowerPoint

Pairing Apple Pencil manually for 1 st Generation iPads

  • Remove the small white cap on the Pencil.
  • Plug in the Pencil to the charging port on the bottom of the iPad.
  • Follow the prompt to pair the Pencil to the iPad.
  • Charge the Pencil by plugging it in the iPad’s charging port

Stop Sharing and End Meeting

  • In Zoom, touch the arrow at the top to reveal the menu
  • Touch “Stop Share” on the menu
  • Touch “End meeting” in the bottom right

Apple iPad event: all the news from Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ reveal

By Wes Davis , a weekend editor who covers the latest in tech and entertainment. He has written news, reviews, and more as a tech journalist since 2020.

As expected, Apple refreshed its iPad lineup for the first time in over a year during the “Let Loose” event on May 7th.

New iPad Pros with OLED outside and M4 chips inside , along with updated iPad Airs available in sizes that go up to 13 inches were the headliners. There were also new accessories on display, like the Apple Pencil Pro with haptic feedback and Find My built in and a Magic Keyboard that adds a function row for a more laptop-like experience with your tablet.

Software updates included some additional AI-powered features, and a new Final Cut Camera app to support multicamera productions.

You can follow our live reactions to all of the updates right here or check out the highlights in our roundup . Check below for every update from the Let Loose iPad event.

Apple quietly kills the old-school iPad and its headphone jack

Hands-on with the new ipad pro: yeah, it’s really thin, the 7 biggest announcements from apple’s ipad event, the new apple pencil pro is harder to lose and better to draw with, apple’s new m4 chip is focused on ai, apple announces new ipad pros with oled displays and thinnest design ever, apple adds a 13-inch ipad air to the mix, apple’s ‘let loose’ event live blog: ipads all the way down.

Apple apologizes for iPad ‘Crush’ ad that ‘missed the mark’

Still image from the “Crush” iPad ad with the press fully closed and only dripping paint and small debris visible outside.

Apple has apologized after a commercial meant to showcase its brand-new iPad Pro drew widespread criticism among the creative community. In a statement provided to Ad Age , Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of marketing, said the company “missed the mark.”

“Creativity is in our DNA at Apple, and it’s incredibly important to us to design products that empower creatives all over the world,” Myhren told Ad Age . “Our goal is to always celebrate the myriad of ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through iPad. We missed the mark with this video, and we’re sorry.”

Apple doesn’t understand why you use technology

A screenshot of Apple’s “Crush” ad, where an industrial press menaces a piano.

I wonder if Apple CEO Tim Cook was surprised by the visceral revulsion many people felt after viewing the newest commercial for Apple’s iPad. In it, a plethora of creative tools are flattened by an industrial press. Watching a piano, which if maintained can last for something like 50 years, squished to advertise a gadget, designed to be obsolete in less than 10, is infuriating. The backlash was immediate.

The message many of us received was this: Apple, a trillion-dollar behemoth, will crush everything beautiful and human, everything that’s a pleasure to look at and touch, and all that will be left is a skinny glass and metal slab.

Alex Cranz

People sure are pressed about Apple’s crushing iPad commercial

An image of an emoji crushed in a giant hydraulic press.

Credit where it’s due: the commercial for the new iPad Pro is impeccable. In the commercial, a hydraulic press, like the kind that crushes Skittles all day on TikTok , slowly descends onto a whole amalgamation of artistic endeavors. As the large metal plate drops like Tesla’s stock in 2024, it crushes musical instruments and destroys classical sculptures. Tubes of paint pop like balloons sending a cascade of color across Apple’s carefully constructed canvas of stuff. Finally, it accomplishes its job. This gathering of creations meant to represent the whole history of human creativity is laid flat by the unstoppable force of Apple’s hydraulic press.

And then, as the press slowly rises, all of that artsy mess disappears. What is left behind is Apple’s new, beautifully sleek iPad Pro.

Here’s where you can preorder Apple’s latest iPad Air and iPad Pro

Someone using iPad with Apple Pencil

At long last, Apple’s newest iPad Pro and iPad Air are finally, officially real . Preorders opened May 7th, with the former tablet starting at $999 and the latter at $599. Both models come in 11- and 13-inch sizes and are set to arrive in stores on Wednesday, May 15th.

One of the most notable changes in the Pro models is the switch from LCD-based displays to OLED, which could be the killer feature for creatives. But there’s a lot more to like, such as the new M4 chip that is said to offer 50 percent faster CPU performance than the prior model’s M2 chip, plus a new 10-core GPU that supports mesh shading and ray tracing. The new iPad Pro also gets a slight camera shakeup, as it now only features two rear cameras (it ditches the ultra-wide from the previous model, but there’s an improved adaptive flash). There’s also a repositioned front-facing camera that now sits centered along the horizontal edge, which allows for less awkward video calls.

Goodbye to Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio, the best iPad Pro accessory

An image of Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio attached to an M1 iPad Pro.

I had a sneaking suspicion this was going to happen. All the rumors about the new iPad Pro — its shift to an OLED display, the more premium Magic Keyboard — had me convinced that Apple was going to quietly move on from the quirky, very not luxurious Smart Keyboard Folio that became my preferred carry for the 2018 iPad Pro and, later, the M1 iPad Pro.

Sure enough, the Smart Keyboard Folio isn’t compatible with the OLED iPad Pros. The 11-inch version can still be used with the sixth-generation iPad Air, but that’s all. So if you’re set on Apple’s very best tablet, it’s not an option anymore. And with no alternative quite like it anywhere in sight, I’m bummed.

Wes Davis

In a memo sent to stores, Apple says it’s not including stickers with the new iPad Pro or iPad Air , but customers can still ask for them at the store, according to 9to5Mac . The company reportedly pointed to its environmental initiatives , like its plastic-free packaging goals.

Apple has been omitting stickers in more products, but that’s mostly only included gadgets like its AirPods.

Here’s how the latest iPad Pro compares to the new iPad Air (and prior models)

A finger touching the iPad Air’s screen.

After nearly a two-year wait, Apple finally updated its iPad lineup with a thinner iPad Pro and new iPad Air . The new tablets start at $999 and $599, respectively, and both are already available for preorder ahead of their May 15th release date.

These aren’t strictly iterative updates, either. For the first time, Apple added an OLED display to the iPad Pro, along with a new M4 chip . Apple also added a 13-inch Air to the lineup, so both models are now available in 11- and 13-inch sizes. Combine that with their support for the same styli — specifically the Apple Pencil with USB‑C and forthcoming Apple Pencil Pro — and you now have more options to consider if you need a big tablet for work or play.

We’ve got you covered if you don’t have time to watch the full iPad Pro and iPad Air announcement, which also brought word of a new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard .

If you need more info, check here for The Verge’s full coverage .

The new iPads are ditching physical SIM cards

The new 2024 iPad Pro.

Apple giveth OLED screens , and Apple taketh away... SIM cards. As spotted by 9to5Mac , Apple has removed the physical SIM slot on the cellular versions of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models. First the iPhone, now the iPad — Apple is all in on an eSIM future, it seems.

The iPhone 14 was the first model to lose the SIM slot , but only in the US — versions sold in other countries still include a physical SIM tray. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro; Apple’s UK and Canadian retail sites state that the new models use eSIM and are “not compatible with physical SIM cards.”

Maxon announced in October that it will bring its beloved desktop 3D sculpting software to the platform this year, but our first look at it comes courtesy of Apple’s “Let Loose” iPad event .

There’s still no word on the release date or pricing . The UI looks really clean though, and it seemingly supports Zbrush’s Sculptris Pro mode , judging by the icon seen up top.

You can upgrade the iPad Pro’s processor now, too

An M4 chip graphic showing a square labeled M4 sitting on a board.

The newly announced iPad Pro hides a sneaky upgrade option that Apple didn’t mention during its event today. When you cough up the $600 it costs to jump from the 256GB base model iPad Pro to the 1TB version, Apple doesn’t just double the RAM along with that — it also puts a faster chip inside , going from a nine-core M4 chip to a 10-core version.

This is the first time Apple has offered a processor upgrade on a specific tablet model — in the past, no matter what other options you picked on a given tablet, you knew you were getting the same chip as any other configuration. In the past, Apple only tied RAM upgrades to storage boosts; that’s still true here, with the quantity doubling from 8GB to 16GB. You also get the privilege of buying Apple’s glare-fighting nanotexture glass for $100 (lucky you!), which isn’t available on the lower-end models. So, if you really want the best-performing iPad Pro, you have to bump your storage to the 1TB or 2TB configuration.

The iPad Air is now heavier than the iPad Pro

Person using the new iPad Air

When I see the word Air attached to an Apple product, I assume two things: it’s going to be thin and light. You can’t really assume that with the just-announced iPad Airs. For one, both the 11-inch and 13-inch sizes are heavier and thicker than either iPad Pro model.

Behold the spec comparison charts.

Apple’s ninth-gen iPad on a wooden table, viewed from the top down

Along with introducing a new iPad Air and iPad Pro during its Let Loose event, Apple quietly killed its ninth-gen iPad — also known as the last iPad with a headphone jack. The 10th-gen iPad is now the sole entry-level iPad in Apple’s official lineup and, as such, has received a $100 price cut.

Released in late 2022, the 10th-generation iPad arrived starting at $449, or about $120 more than base entry-level iPads from previous years. Apple justified the price increase with new iPad Air-like features, like a 10.9-inch screen and USB-C support.

Apple launches Final Cut Camera app to support multicam productions

icon for Final Cut camera

Apple is releasing a new Final Cut Camera app for iPhone and iPad that can take video and stream it live back to an iPad for a Multicam shoot, as well as provide more controls for filmmakers. The company’s new pro-level app provides “precise manual controls” and can be used as a plain standalone camera app.

The new Final Cut Camera is launching alongside the updated Final Cut 2 app, a successor to last year’s debut Final Cut for iPad. Final Cut 2 has a multiscreen view that captures and controls each Final Cut Camera-running device connected to it. Final Cut 2 also lets you hop between production and editing, allowing you to live-cut your project.

Apple puts more ‘Pro’ in Final Cut and Logic Pro for the iPad

share presentation zoom ipad

Apple is updating two of its biggest pro apps to complement the new iPad Pro models announced today. The updated Logic Pro will be available first, hitting the App Store starting on May 13th for both the iPad and Mac, while the next version of Final Cut Pro for both platforms comes later this spring. Both will be free updates for existing users of the macOS and iPadOS versions.

Final Cut Pro for the iPad finally supports external projects — that is, users can create and access products on external storage and won’t need to import the media to their iPad’s internal storage. That’s a big deal for anyone editing on the go, as even Apple’s higher tablet storage tiers can be limiting when working with massive video files (particularly now that the app supports taking in four camera shots at once).

An overhead photo of the iPad Pro 2024 on a table.

Apple just announced a new iPad Pro , and at a watch party in New York City, a few reporters got to take a look at Apple’s new tablet firsthand. After holding and playing with the device for a few minutes, I can say pretty confidently that Apple’s not kidding about how much more svelte the new model is. At 5.3mm thick for the 11-inch model and 5.1mm for the 13-inch tablet, this new iPad is noticeably thinner and lighter than anything the company has made before.

It’s such a big difference that the larger model, which I’ve always felt was kind of preposterously huge, feels much more comfortable to hold and use. (And it’s technically even larger now, up to 13 inches from 12.9 before.) You can tell the difference between the Pro and the new Air from practically across the room, and as someone who has carried around an 11-inch Pro for the last year and a half, it’s really a big difference. The biggest question I have for now is about fragility: is the new Pro potentially too thin? It feels rigid and sturdy enough in my hands, but there are always tradeoffs with a device like this. We have lots of testing to do.

Apple just wrapped up its “Let Loose” event, where it showed off its first new iPads in nearly two years. But the event had more than just iPads — we also got a first look at some refreshed accessories and updated software.

If you want a quick rundown of everything Apple announced, check out our roundup below.

A screenshot of the Apple Pencil Pro taken from Apple’s Let Loose iPad presentation.

Apple announced its third-generation Apple Pencil today during its “Let Loose” iPad event, adding Find My support and new capabilities for adapting the stylus to different creative tasks. Available to order today for $129 — the same price as the second-gen Apple Pencil — the new Apple Pencil Pro introduces features closer to what you’d find on pens for dedicated drawing tablets , like a “Barrel Roll” gyroscope feature and a squeeze gesture for switching between software functions.

This is the first real update to the Apple Pencil series since the second-generation model was announced in 2018 . While the more affordable USB-C Apple Pencil that was released last year supported a wider range of iPad models than the Apple Pencil 2, it also ditched advanced second-gen features like pressure sensitivity and double-tap tool switching — making it less useful for tasks like graphic design and 3D sculpting.

Apple’s new Magic Keyboard makes the iPad Pro feel ‘just like’ a MacBook

A screenshot of Apple’s new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro.

Alongside the long-expected OLED iPad Pro , Apple has also released a lightly updated Magic Keyboard with an aluminum palm rest and a larger trackpad with haptic feedback — and finally, a function row.

The new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4) comes in two colors (black and silver) and two sizes: one for the 11-inch Pro and one for the 13-inch model. They cost $299 and $349, respectively, and like the new iPad Pro models, they are available for preorder today, shipping next week. They are not compatible with the new 11- and 13-inch iPad Air models announced today or with previous iPad Pro models. Those still use the first-gen Magic Keyboard, now called Magic Keyboard for iPad Air (M2) . Rolls off the tongue!

Joanna Nelius  and  Tom Warren

Apple’s  next-generation chip, the M4 , is coming to the new iPad Pro. The new OLED iPad Pro models will include the upgraded chip, which is focused on improving performance for AI-related tasks in iPadOS.

During an event on Tuesday, Apple focused heavily on the M4’s AI capabilities. A new neural engine makes it “an outrageously powerful chip for AI,” the company says, capable of 38 trillion operators per second (TOPS). It’s supposedly 60 times faster than the NPU of Apple’s A11 chip, from 2017, but that number still falls short of the Snapdragon X Elite’s 45 TOPS. However, Apple still claims the M4 can deliver the same performance as the latest PC chips with only a quarter of the power.

At its “Let Loose” virtual event this morning, Apple introduced its long-awaited iPad Pro updates. The new 13-inch and 11-inch tablets have a fresh design, more powerful internals, and a thinner profile than ever before, and they come with a major display upgrade. As rumored, Apple has switched to OLED screens on both sizes, bringing perfect blacks, richer color saturation, and enhanced contrast to its flagship iPads. Oh, and the front-facing camera is now in the correct (landscape) position for video calls.

The iPad Pros use a tandem OLED structure that allows the display to reach 1,000 nits of peak full-screen brightness — just like the Mini LED model before it — and 1,600 nits for HDR content. The 13-inch model measures just 5.1 millimeters thick, which Apple says is its thinnest device ever. (The 11-inch is 5.3 millimeters thick.) For those who prefer a matte display finish, a nano-texture glass coating will be available for the first time with these iPad Pros.

share presentation zoom ipad

Apple has unveiled its 2024 iPad Air, now in two sizes for the first time thanks to a new 13-inch option. The company also updated the 11-inch iPad Air. Both tablets are outfitted with Apple’s M2 chip and will be in blue, purple, starlight, and space gray colors. The tablet will start at $599 for the 11-inch and $799 for the 13-inch model, and they’re available today on Apple’s site .

The new iPad Air has a single rear 12MP camera lens and a front-facing 12MP camera, as before — now centered on the long edge, or what I’m now calling the One True Placement. It’s also got support for the Apple Pencil Hover feature, which was previously exclusive to the iPad Pro.

Apple’s “Let Loose” event logo.

Y’all ready for some new iPads? That’s what’s on deck for today’s “Let Loose” event .

Rumor has it we might be seeing some OLED iPad Pros, a bigger iPad Air, a more laptop-esque Magic Keyboard and a “pro”-style Apple Pencil. Possibly an M4 chip? We expect this to be fast and breezy like last October’s “Scary Fast” event.

You can erase the logo for the company’s “ Let Loose ” iPad event (10AM ET tomorrow) at the top of its home page . I can’t seem to erase the whole thing before it switches to new art, though.

Very unsatisfying. 6 / 10.

The last thing the iPad needs is a spec bump

A 2022 Apple iPad Pro in a Magic Keyboard case on a wooden desk.

When Apple CEO Tim Cook and a bunch of his deputies take the virtual stage next week to announce new iPads, they’re going to spend a lot of time talking about specs. If the rumors are true, we’re going to get new iPad Pros with OLED screens and thinner bodies, new Airs with faster chips and a correctly placed front camera, and a couple of new accessories. Before they even launch, I feel confident telling you these are the best iPads ever. But after all these years, I still don’t know how to tell you whether you should want an iPad. Or what you’d want to do with it.

This has been true forever, of course. The iPad is the jack-of-all-trades in Apple’s lineup, a terrific device in many ways that still feels increasingly redundant now that so many people have big phones and long-lasting laptops. Apple seems to have spent the last decade-plus enamored with the idea of the iPad as a shapeshifter — a device that can be exactly what you need at any given time. The company loves that the iPad’s use case is hard to pin down, that it means different things to different people. It’s a fun, good, ambitious idea: The One Gadget To Rule Them All. The way to make that happen, though, is not to upgrade the chips or move the buttons or redesign the rounded corners. It’s to focus less on the iPad itself and more on the things you attach to it.
