National Essay Contest

National Essay Contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, creativity, and initiative of Pakistan’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to inspire society to learn from young minds and to think about how each of us can make a difference in the world.

A national essay competition is a contest that invites participants from a specific country to submit an original essay on a particular topic or theme. The competition is usually open to students, professionals, or anyone interested in writing. The winner(s) may receive a prize or recognition for their work, and the competition aims to promote writing skills, critical thinking, and creativity.

Why the National Essay Contest?

Essay competitions are held for a variety of reasons. They can provide a platform for students and writers to showcase their skills and gain recognition for their work. Essay competitions can also encourage critical thinking, research, and writing, helping to develop these important skills in participants. Additionally, essay competitions can raise awareness about important issues and topics, and promote discussion and debate among the wider community. Rules and Regulations

1. Eligibility: The contest is open to individuals of all ages residing within the national boundaries. Participants must be citizens or legal residents of the country. Employees, relatives, or affiliates of the organizing committee and sponsors are ineligible. 2. Theme:  Essays must adhere to the specified theme provided by the contest organizers. Creativity and unique perspectives on the theme are encouraged. 3. Submission Guidelines: Entries must be submitted electronically through the designated online portal or email address. The preferred format is a typed document in a standard word processing software. Submissions must be original and previously unpublished. 4. Word Limit: Essays should not exceed the specified word limit, with a tolerance of +/- 10%. Submissions deviating significantly from the limit may face disqualification. 5. Language: All entries must be submitted in the official language(s) specified by the organizers. Translations of non-English entries should be provided. 6. Deadline: Submissions must be received by the specified deadline. Late entries will not be considered. 7. Plagiarism:  Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. All entries will be subject to plagiarism checks, and any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification. 8. Judging Criteria:  Entries will be evaluated based on originality, creativity, adherence to the theme, clarity of expression, and overall impact. The decision of the judging panel is final and binding. 9. Multiple Entries:  Participants may submit multiple entries, but each entry must be unique and adhere to the specified guidelines. 10. Awards and Recognition:  Winners will be announced on the specified date. Prizes, if any, will be awarded to the top entries as determined by the judging panel. Winning essays may be published or featured on the contest website or in related publications. 11. Notification of Winners:  Winners will be notified via the contact information provided during submission. If a winner cannot be reached within a specified period, an alternative winner may be selected. 12. Rights and Permissions:  By submitting an entry, participants grant the contest organizers the right to publish and showcase the work, with proper attribution. 13. Confidentiality:  Judges and organizers will treat all submissions with confidentiality. Only winning entries may be publicly disclosed. 14. Disqualification:  Entries not adhering to the rules and guidelines may be disqualified. Any attempt to influence the judging process may result in disqualification. 16. • Urdu Essay must be typed and not handwritten.
• Both types of entries need to be converted to PDF files.

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development, is holding an inter-university essay writing competition in Urdu and English languages to commemorate the 75th birth anniversary of Pakistan.

The competition is aimed at sensitising the youth to analyse opportunities and challenges faced by the nation and identify their role in the development of Pakistan through critical thinking, creativity and productive engagement.

The topics in both languages are: development journey of Pakistan from 1947-2022; lessons learnt viz-a-viz other countries; and Pakistan at 2047: national youth aspirations.

The first prize winners in each category will receive a cash award of Rs500,000, second position holders Rs300,000 and Rs200,000 for those standing third. Those securing positions from fourth to tenth will receive Rs100,000 a head.

According to the agency, the candidate must be a national of Pakistan or Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a university student with an upper age limit of 25 years.

The submissions are required to be sent along with a registration form. The students can only participate in either language. The Word count should be between 2,500-3,000.

The deadline for submissions is August 26.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2022 ) :Higher education Commission ( HEC ) in collaboration with Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives is holding Inter-university Essay Writing Competition in urdu & English language in order to commemorate 75th anniversary of Pakistan .

According to official sources from HEC , the essay writing competition is aimed at sensitizing the Pakistani youth to analyze opportunities & challenges faced by the country and identify their role in development of Pakistan through critical thinking, creativity and productive engagement.

The deadline for submission of Essay is August 26, 2022. It is a great opportunity for the youth to demonstrate their extra ordinary writing skills and win national awards.

As per details, the essay topic in English including, Development Journey of Pakistan from 1947 to 2022; Lessons Learnt viz-a-viz Other Countries, Pakistan at 2047: National Youth Aspirations.

Similarly, the essay topics in Urdu including Pakistan ki Tarraqi ka safar (1947-2022): Taraqi pazeer mamalak say taqabli jaiza. The second topic is 2047 ka Pakistan : Nasl-e-Noh ki Umangain.

HEC announced prizes for both English & Urdu winners including 1st Position Rs. 500,000, 2nd Position Rs. 300,000, 3rd Position Rs. 200,000 and 4th -10th Position Rs. 100,000 (each).

The development comes after heavy rains and flash floods wreaked havoc across the country resulting in the closure of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Creative Writing Contest

Calling aspiring writers aged 16-19 currently enrolled in high school in Pakistan to submit stories of not more than 1,500 words on one of the prompts below. Don't miss out this chance to exercise your creative talent and be recognized on a public platform. Winners will receive exciting prizes to boot!

• Write a story about a never-seen-before magical object that turns up along the banks of River Indus.
• You're in your backyard when you stumble across a portal to another world. You decide to go through the portal. Tell us what happens next.

Guidelines:

• Submissions must be short stories and original works of fiction.
• Academic and argumentative essays are not included within the purview of creative writing in this competition.
• Submissions must be in English and cannot exceed 1,500 words.
• Participants must be aged 16-19 years and currently enrolled in high school in Pakistan. You are required to submit a photo of your school ID and either your B Form or passport copy for verification of your date of birth.
• Your story cannot already have been published elsewhere.
• One submission is allowed per participant.
• Be sure to include your full name on your submission.
• The deadline for the competition is June 30 at 11:59 pm. Entries submitted after this date will not be entertained.
• Plagiarism will be taken seriously and will serve as grounds for disqualification. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Copying another's work
• Taking an original idea and claiming it as your own
• Quoting specific phrases without attribution
• Translating from an original work and claiming it as your own
• Making slight changes to an original work so that you are paraphrasing while maintaining the basic structure of the original
• Results will be announced in August. The winning contestants will be awarded with certificates and prizes as well as the chance to have their story published in the USEFP newsletter!

2022 International Essay Contest.

The Goi Peace Foundation Japan has invited young people (below 18) to participate in the 2022 International Essay contest. The competition is open to all youth living in Japan. The theme for this year's contest is: "MY VALUES".

Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing and Speech Competition- 2022/ 23

Today, Embassy of Pakistan, Kathmandu organized award giving ceremonies of 10th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and 6th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition. Abrar H Hashmi, Ambassador gave away awards to the students.

This year, the topic of Essay Writing competition was “SAARC – How can it be used for Regional Prosperity”. Students securing first, second and third position in the Essay Writing Competition were presented Gold, Silver and Bronze medals along with Souvenir and cash prizes. The next ten best students were also presented with consolation cash prizes.

Top position holders of the Speech Competition on “Impact of Climate Change on our Livelihood – Common Challenge to South Asia” too were given Gold, Silver, Bronze medals along with Souvenirs & cash prizes. The next thirteen best students also received Souvenirs & cash prizes.

A good number of Nepalese students from 38 Higher Secondary School to University students participated in the two competitions. Ambassador Hashmi lauded the participating students for their critical thinking and called on them to embrace the challenges of the future. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of youth interactions between the two countries as the abiding bridge.

The two competitions are held each year consecutively for last five and 10 years respectively which have become very popular among the Nepalese youth and attract the brightest students from all over the country.

MEET THE WINNERS OF THE QUEEN'S COMMONWEALTH ESSAY COMPETITION 2022

The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC) is the world's oldest international schools' writing contest, established by the Society in 1883. With thousands of young people taking part each year, it is an important way to recognise achievement, elevate youth voices and develop key skills through creative writing. 

Each year, entrants write on a theme that explores the Commonwealth's values, fostering an empathetic world view in the next generation of leaders and encouraging young people to consider new perspectives to the challenges that the world faces. Themes have included the environment, community, inclusion, the role of youth leadership, and gender equality. 

In the past decade alone, this high-profile competition has engaged approximately 140,000 young people, over 5,000 schools and thousands of volunteer judges across the Commonwealth. 

This year, the competition theme was 'Our Commonwealth', reflecting on our Patron Queen Elizabeth II's seven decades of service to the Commonwealth as an inspiring example of the steadfast commitment and important contribution we can all make to our societies.

We were thrilled to receive a record-breaking 26,322 entries to the QCEC from every Commonwealth region, with the winners and runners-up from New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and India. Sawooly Li 

Senior Winner 

Age 17, New Zealand 

Sawooly Li is a 12th grade student from Rangitoto College in New Zealand. Reading and writing have always been second nature for her—a way of expressing visions, thoughts, and emotions. She loves drawing inspiration and learning from other great writers and their works. Both reading and writing are things which Sawooly aspires to continue far, far, into the future.

Sawooly also has a love for maths and physics, and is heavily involved in such areas in her school, running clubs and participating in competitions. Fostering a strong sense of community, she also leads several in-school organisations, such as UN Youth and UNICEF. In the winters, Sawooly enjoys snowboarding in New Zealand’s beautiful mountains with friends and family.

Madeleine Wood

Junior Winner 

Age 14, Australia 

Madeleine is 14 years old and lives in Melbourne, Australia. She is in grade 8 at Camberwell Girls Grammar School.

She loves travelling, particularly through Europe, and enjoys visiting the museums, historical landmarks and cities in each country. It is from these experiences that she gained a love for ancient, medieval, and renaissance history.

She is also an avid reader, plays the violin and spends much of her time playing basketball or swimming.

Amaal Fawzi

Senior Runner-up

Age 17, United Kingdom

Amaal Fawzi is a 17-year-old girl who was born in Egypt, raised in Lebanon, and now lives in East London. She has an Iraqi father and a British mother, and because of the education system in Lebanon, she has started university a year early! She studies English Literature with Creative Writing and has been writing poetry for many years, though she wouldn’t say she’s been writing poetry well for all of them.

Most of the poetry and prose she likes to write is concerned with culture and identity. Her years in Lebanon formed the majority of her character and cultural experiences, so learning to interact with that in the UK has been a very interesting season. It makes for a lot of writing material, and she’d say that the way she writes is always personal and drawn somehow from her own life.

Maulika Pandey

Junior  Runner-up

Age 13, India

Maulika Pandey, is an 8th grade student from Aurum the Global School.

She has always enjoyed writing since she was a child as she feels writing gives her the power to express her feelings in a creative way. Maulika also enjoys sketching and playing the guitar. Basketball is her favourite sport.

She aspires to be a successful entrepreneur but will definitely continue writing in the future.

She is a dedicated advocate for anti-bullying and body positivity.

Pakistani Ambassador Gives Award To The Winner Students Of Essay Writing and Speech Competition

New spotlight online.

Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan, to Nepal gave away awards to the winning students of the 9th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and 5th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition.

Embassy of Pakistan organized award giving ceremonies of the 9th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and 5th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition.

Students who secured first, second and third position in the Essay Writing Competition were presented Gold, Silver and Bronze medals along with Souvenir and cash prizes.

The next ten best students were also presented with cash prizes. The topic of Essay Writing competition was “Climate Change a Harsh Reality - Measures required to Pacify Effects at Individual and Collective Level”.

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th position holders of the Speech Competition were presented with Souvenir along with Gold, Silver, Bronze medals and cash prizes. The next twelve best students also received cash prizes. Topic for Speech competition was “Importance of Social Media in Education”.

A sizeable number of Nepali students from Higher Secondary Level (10+2) to University level participated in the two competitions. The Ambassador of Pakistan appreciated the efforts of the participating students and called them a strong bridge between the youth of two countries. The ambassador highlighted the importance of youth interactions between the two countries, according to the press release of the embassy.
