CBSE Class 5 Mathematics Study Material & Detailed Syllabus

The upper primary syllabus attempts to highlight or give extra importance to the development of mathematical understanding and thinking in the child. Parents and teachers must be knowing that the upper primary stage is the transitional stage that takes their wards to a world of greater abstraction. At this level, children begin to move from concrete to abstract notions, wherein the child will learn to use and understand mathematical language, including symbols.

CBSE Class 5 Maths syllabus aims to help learners decode mathematics as a discipline. It has been integrated into our experiences and what we come across in our daily lives which may have an abstract basis. All tools that are used in the classroom are to scaffold the learning process at the intermediate stage of learning. The learning process takes a child from the process of generalisation to distinctivness. Helping the child to develop a better understanding of logic and appreciating the notion of proof is also stressed.
