IELTS comprises several different sections, one of which is the speaking test. Every individual appearing for IELTS must undertake the activities under this section and answer the questions asked adequately.

In the present scenario, the topic we would like to discuss is ' Describe Your Deam House ’.  So, your answer must touch down on the following aspects:

  • Where is your dream house located?
  • What would it look like?
  • When would you like to live in your dream house?
  • Why is this house perfect for you?

Table of Contents

Describe your dream house in detail: question 1, download e-books for ielts preparation, what will your dream house look like: question 2, important ielts exam resources.

The idea of having a dream house someday fills me with excitement. It will be one place that will be solely mine– a place I can rest, unwind and call my own.

When I think of where this dream house would be situated, I can only envision the cold and peaceful mountains. I have been to hills and mountains during many treks. It's one place that offers me the most joy. The happiness of walking on the side of the curvy, narrow roads and stopping at a small food stall to have a hot cup of tea and noodles makes me feel alive. Life feels simpler there.

My dream house would ideally be small. I don't have the desire to live in a gigantic mansion with all the worldly and materialistic amenities. Although it would be small, it would have hundreds of plants– both inside and outside. My kitchen will be my happy place, where I will always keep everything stocked. The balcony will have a little hammock where I could read a book and get lost in the fictional world.

I would love to have this dream house as soon as possible, maybe in the next year or two. It's only about attaining financial stability and a job I love, and then I can move to my house in the mountains!

The day I move would perhaps be the happiest day of my life. This house will be perfect for me because I have thought of every aspect of it, in incredible detail, over and over. It'll be a house made of love and tranquillity, with a house cat running around to give me company!

In conclusion, my dream house, a harmonious blend of comfort, aesthetic appeal, and functionality, represents more than just a physical structure; it's a sanctuary that echoes my personality, values, and aspirations. Envisioned as a place of tranquility, inspiration, and warmth, it serves as a haven where memories are made and cherished. From its eco-friendly design to the cozy, inviting spaces, each element of this house contributes to an atmosphere of peace and happiness. In describing my dream house for this IELTS Cue Card, I not only share a personal vision but also articulate a future aspiration, showcasing my ability to communicate complex ideas and emotions effectively in English. This dream house symbolizes the culmination of my goals and efforts, a place where I can thrive, grow, and find solace.

Describe Your Dream House: IELTS Cue Card

Ever since I was young, I always thought that growing up would be so exciting. For one, it would involve having a house of my own, my dream house. A place that is just mine, where I can host the people I love and always be authentically myself.

My dream house will be a beach house. So, every morning, I would first pull the curtains away from the life-size windows and watch the waves hitting the shore. I imagine the noise of crashing waves to be rhythmic and peaceful. Moreover, the idea of sitting on the porch while the salty winds rush through the tangles of my hair sounds beautiful to me.

The house would ideally be big enough for me, my parents and my friends if they ever want to stay. I want to be the person whose house is always open for loved ones to stay over. It would have an all-blue theme to match the seaside atmosphere. I also envision a lot of artwork hanging on the walls of my house.

I think no other place would come close to being perfect for me than this one. I am a water baby, and I love the feel of sand under my feet. Moreover, I will personalize this space to match my taste and comfort. I will also add a library room.

If it were up to me, I would want to buy my dream house today. That said, it's not financially possible, so I will strive to work hard and gain stability in my life to have it one day.

Describe Your Idea Of A Perfect Home Or Dream House

Describe your idea of a perfect home or dream house You should say:

Where this place would be? What it would look like? When you would like to live there? Explain why it is ideal for you.

Sample: Describe Your Idea Of A Perfect Home Or Dream House

From the depths of my imagination, I have often visualized my dream house nestled amidst the picturesque mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India. This tranquil region, with its snow-capped peaks and verdant valleys, embodies serenity, making it a perfect location for my haven.

The house itself would be a charming blend of traditional Himachali architecture and modern design. Wooden beams, slanted roofs to ward off the snow, and large bay windows would dominate the facade. Inside, a cozy fireplace would take center stage in the living room, ensuring warmth during those cold winter nights. The interiors would be furnished in soft earthy tones, complementing the natural beauty outside. Expansive terraces would offer panoramic views of the majestic mountains and the valleys below.

Ideally, I’d love to settle in this dream house post-retirement, when the hustle and bustle of city life would have taken its toll, and the lure of a peaceful retreat would be irresistible.

This vision of a home is perfect for me because it aligns with my love for nature and my desire for a tranquil space. Living amidst the mountains, I believe, would provide not only a sensory treat but also a spiritual solace, allowing me to connect with nature, rejuvenate, and reflect on the beauty of life.

Follow-ups: Describe Your Idea Of A Perfect Home Or Dream House

Question 1: do most indian people live in an apartment or house.

Answer:- In India, the type of housing people live in largely depends on the region and socio-economic status. In urban areas like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, due to space constraints and high population density, apartments are more common. However, in rural areas, people predominantly live in independent houses, often with courtyards and agricultural land. The growing middle class in cities is also increasingly moving towards apartment living for amenities like security and community features. So, while apartments are prevalent in cities, houses are the norm in rural settings.

Question 2: Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Answer:- In India, it’s deeply rooted in the culture for young people to live with their parents until marriage, and sometimes even after. The joint family system, emphasizing close familial ties, is prevalent. While modernization and urbanization have led some young professionals to opt for independent living in metropolitan areas for job opportunities and privacy, a significant majority still prefer the comfort and support of staying with their parents.

Question 3: Do Indian people like to rent a place to live?

Answer:- In India, both renting and owning property have their place. For young professionals or those who frequently move due to job assignments, renting is often more feasible. In cities, the high real estate prices also make renting a popular choice for many. However, owning a home is a deeply ingrained cultural aspiration in India, and many work towards this long-term goal, valuing it as a symbol of stability and success.

Question 4: Would you live in a foreign country in the future?

Answer:- Certainly, living in a foreign country has always piqued my interest. I am fascinated by the idea of immersing myself in a new culture, language, and way of life. Such experiences broaden horizons and provide opportunities for personal growth. Given the chance, I would love to reside abroad for a few years, not just for professional prospects but also for the enriching life lessons it would offer.

Question 5: How is modern home design in your country different from that of the past?

Answer:- Modern home design in India markedly differs from the past. Historically, Indian homes emphasized courtyards and open spaces, facilitating communal living. Today, with urbanization and space constraints, homes have become more compact. Modern designs lean towards minimalism and functionality. Additionally, while traditional homes were built with local materials, contemporary ones incorporate global influences, blending Indian aesthetics with international trends.

IELTS CUE CARD TOPIC

Describe Your Idea of a Perfect Home or Dream House where You Want to Live

You should say:

Where this place would be? What it would look like? When you would like to live there? Explain why it is ideal to you?

NOTE  –  The examiner gives you one minute to plan your answer ,  and to help you prepare for the topic, the examiner provides you with a pencil and a notepad. You’ll have to answer the questions given on the topic for one-to-two minutes .

Introduction

Like everyone, I also have a clear idea of what my dream house would be like.

Where would this place be?

It would be far away from the city in the countryside area.

What would it look like?

It would look like a stately house will state of the art infrastructure. The house would have modern facilities like a gym and a swimming pool, but it would also be close to nature because I will build it in the middle of a farmhouse. The electricity generation will happen through solar panels, and a library will be inside to pamper my appetite for reading books.

Moreover, the house’s outside walls will have pictures of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad and sports stars like Sachin Tendulkar and M S Dhoni.

When would you like to live there?

I am a student, and constructing such a house requires a boatload of money. Therefore, I have given myself six years. After finishing my studies, I will work with determination, dedication, and discipline to arrange funds for my startup. And once my venture becomes successful, I will have sufficient money to construct my dream home .

Explain why it is ideal for you.

It is ideal for me because, since childhood, I have dreamed of living an opulent lifestyle in the countryside instead of a city. However, I am an urban dweller, and traffic congestion and air pollution are pressing problems for me. By shifting to the countryside, I will maintain good physical health by avoiding pollution because, in villages, you get clean and pristine air.

IELTS Exam Sample Cue Card Answer: Describe Your Idea of the Perfect Home or Dream House

There can be multiple ways to describe a perfect home or a dream house. If you live in a city or suburb, you could express your wish of living in a village or somewhere surrounded by nature, and vice-versa. You could also tell about what you would like more to be added in your existing place. The following pointers can be used for describing your perfect home:

  • Where will the place be?
  • What would the place look like?
  • When would you want to live there?
  • Why will the place be ideal to you?

Introduction –  Describe Your Idea of the Perfect Home or Dream House

Presently, I live in a city and my home is situated in a central residential area. Taking the opportunity of describing the idea of my perfect home or my dream house, I would want it to be on a higher altitude near the hills and among more greenery.

Where will the Place Be?

I want my house to be in a village in Himachal Pradesh, not too big, just enough for my family to live in. My current city is getting congested with each day, and the air and noise pollution just make it worse.

What would the Place Look Like?

I would want a small bungalow with a garden in the backyard. I am fond of gardening and I will use the garden to grow plants like tomatoes, chilly, lemons, spinach, and a variety of flowers. I will also own a dog which will surely enjoy the huge garden space and run around as he pleases.

When would You want to Live There?

Once I start earning well, I will pay occasional monthly visits to the place to get the work done as per my requirements. When I finally secure a stable financial position, I shall move here permanently, and spend my days in a clean and beautiful surrounding.

Why will the Place be Ideal for You?

The hustle and bustle of city life make a person really stressed, and one has no time to rejuvenate. Owning a place in the hilly areas will ensure peace and tranquillity, and I shall also be away from unhealthy air, which is a major health hazard in cities these days. It will be the most ideal place for me, to spend time with my family for the rest of my days.

Follow up Questions for IELTS Exam from Cue Card Topic

Following ahead shall be a few sample follow-up questions with answers which are asked by the examiner for the next part of speaking. The questions are relatively based on the cue card topics in part 2 of the IELTS exam.

How are Modern Homes different from Older Style Homes?

Modern homes are very different from older style homes in terms of facilities. Modern homes make use of technologies to be integrated into interior designs. IELTS Speaking part 3 Follow Up Questions .

Here are some follow up questions you may be asked during part 3 IELTS Speaking exam by the IELTS examiner related to describe your idea of a perfect home or dream house IELTS Cue Card 2020.

1. Do most Indian people live in an apartment or house?

I think it depends on the region they are living in.

In most of the big cities, like the metropolitan cities, people live in apartments, as there is a scarcity of land in such places and to accommodate the ever-increasing population, there are more and more apartment buildings being built.

However, in the small cities, towns and the countryside, we can find people mostly living in houses, rather than apartments.

2. Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

In my country, young people like to live with their parents, unless they have to move to another city or country, for higher education or for better career prospects.

It’s a part of the Indian culture for children to live with their parents.

3. Do Indian people like to rent a place to live?

No, Indian people do not like to rent a place to live. I think it’s the dream of almost every Indian to own his/her own house.

4. Would you live in a foreign country in the future?

Yes, definitely. I would like to live in a foreign country in the future. I plan to pursue my education abroad.

I think there are better education facilities and better job opportunities in developed countries.

5. How is modern home design in your country different to that of the past?

The modern home design is very different to that of the past, in my country.

The material being used now in the construction of houses if much advanced, like weather proof paints, insulated walls, soundproof windows, etc.

The design of the modern houses is according to the space available.

There is better utilization of space in the modern home designs.

The homes in the past used to be more spacious and not equipped to handle the latest electronic gadgets and equipment, like washing machine, microwave, dishwashers & so on.

6. In your country what type of home do most people live in?

India is a vast and diverse country. People live in different types of houses, depending on the region and the climate in that region.

For example, in the eastern parts of India, houses made from bamboo are very common.

In regions where there is snowfall, sloped houses are common. In plain areas, people design their houses, as per the area and space available.

7. Do people prefer to live in Modern Homes or the older style homes (for example from 50 years ago)?

People prefer to live in modern homes rather than older style homes because modern homes are better equipped to handle the latest electronic gadgets and technology.

Also, the material used to build modern homes is better, for instance, weather proof paints, earthquake proof design, etc. The modern homes are planned better to utilize the space properly.

8. How are modern homes different to older homes?

Modern homes are quite different from the older homes, in terms of the design, material used and the structure of the building.

Older homes were more spacious, with proper ventilation. Modern homes are designed to properly utilize the space, due to the shortage of land these days.

These days, people employ interior designers and architects to plan and decorate their homes.

Older homes may not be equipped to handle the latest electronic gadgets and appliances.

IELTS Cue Card 64: Describe Your Dream House

  • Post author By City IELTS
  • Post date 7th May 2020

IELTS cue card

Short Version

My current house is sufficient for me and my family. But like anyone else, I would like to have some more features in the house. So in future, I want to have house located in less crowded area. The streets of localiaty should be wide enough for a car.

Exterior of house should be painted white. There should be a shady tree just outside the main gate of house. I want at least 4 bedrooms, one kitchen, store room, living room, attached bathrooms and a balcony on first floor. The living room must be spacious so that my all family member can join and stay together in the living room for talking or watching TV.

The interior must appear luxurious, with brown polished wooden furniture, square design glass tables, wall mounted wardrobes and coloured glass fittings. Electricity, water and AC fittings must be done underground. Since we all family members feel it a blessing to have dinner together, so I want a big dining table close to the kitchen where we can comfortably stay connected over meal. I would prefer modern and latest kitchen and other household items like a 42 inch LED, 3-door refrigerator.

Apart from this, I believe that a small yard with plantation will enhance the beauty of house where I would grow vegetables and flower plants. Besides, I also want sufficient space for parking the car and scooter in the house. I would like to have CCTV camera installed, and also theft alarm system in this house.

This house would be incomplete without my family so my family would fill this house with charm, love and joy.

So this is my dream house.

Long Version

The basic feature of a house is to provide shelter, safety, security and privacy however nowadays, modern technologies has made us desire for strongly built houses which include modern designs, household technologies, security, comfort with an added appearance of luxury. Old houses are being replaced with modern house buildings.

My current house is, no doubt, sufficient for me and my family. But like anyone else, I would like to have some more features in the house. So in future, I want to have house located in less crowded area, like away from bustling city, most preferably close to the city suburbs.

It would be better if house is fronting the main road, because in that case, I would not need to go through narrow colony roads to get on to the main road.

I think, this is a typical house building design that I desire for. Once I get to earn for myself, I would save money and someday, would be able to have my dream house constructed.

Band 8 Sample Answer

Well, I always long for (have a strong desire for something) a beautiful house in the countryside and today I want to share with you about that.

So, first of all, talking about its location, I want my future house to be situated in a secluded area (private, peaceful place) where I can stay from the hustle and bustle (busy activity) of city life . It would be so much better if my house is surrounded by some spectacular landscapes, so after a stressful day at work, I can just sit on the veranda (a covered area along the outside of a house), enjoying a cup of coffee and contemplating (admire) the stunning scenery to de-stress and chill out. For me, personally, it is pure escapism.

For the interior design , well, as a person who admires minimalism , I just want to have a house with some basic functions. However, as you can see here, I am a guitar aficionado (someone who is very interested in something and knows a lot about it) who enjoys recording and making videos of me playing the guitar and post them on Youtube, so it is a must to have a small studio equipped with top-notch (very high in equipment) equipment to satisfy my passion .

Anyway, where was I? Oh, another thing I have to mention is that I relish swimming ( enjoy) , so I want to have an outdoor pool whenever I am so frazzled (extremely tired) with my work, I will have a dip in the water at weekends to reduce all the depressive thoughts and de-clutter my mind (get rid of something) .

Hopefully I can live in the house in about 20 years’ time , a bit long I know, but I really need to set aside (save) my money for the house . I mean, had I been born with a silver spoon in my mouth (to be born to parents that are rich) ,   I would have resided in my ideal house right at the moment I reached the age of 18, but I guess for now, I will just have to try my utter mo st to make my dream come true.

IELTS Speaking Cue Card

my dream house essay for ielts

Describe your idea of a perfect home

where it would be?

how big it would be?

what it will look like?

and explain why it would be the perfect home for you

My family and I have only ever lived in rented houses. It is my dream to build a house for my parents with everything that we wanted. Everyone has their own plans to build a perfect home. Likewise, I have imagined how each room in my dream home would look like, what furniture it would have, and how I could decorate it. My house would be a modern villa kind with a huge backyard where I can grow my favourite flowers and plants. Inside the villa, there would be a capacious hall, a TV room with a built-in home theater and a kitchen with a wide dining area. Upstairs, there would be three bedrooms, one for my parents, one for me, and the other one for guests. I plan to have balconies attached to all the rooms so I can grow some bonsai plants and rose flower plants. The balconies would be like little gardens to sit and enjoy sunsets. I have always wanted to have mini gardens on balconies so I would not miss out on that opportunity. Furthermore, the house's interior walls would be adorned with a calming design with cool colours and some home plants. Now, this would be a dream home only if I had my family living there with me. They have lived in the suburbs for quite some time and convincing them to move out would take ages. However, once they see how stunning the house and the neighbourhood would be, I am sure they will immediately agree as having our own home has also been a dream.

Vocabulary:

  • Capacious- roomy, spacious
  • Adorned- decorated
  • Stunning - Extremely impressive

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves.

Actually, in my country if you don't live with your parents, you're a bad egg. The reasoning people have here is that our parents owe it to their children. I believe that as well. They give birth to us, take care of us, raise us well, pay fat paychecks for our education, and when their kids get old enough, they pack up their bags and leave. Sometimes they keep check on their folks, mostly not. And when the parents grow old, they spend their lives in some sad old group home. What happens here, however, is that we stay with them. We take care of them when they grow old. We make sure they get all the love, care and support they need. Growing old is frustrating and painful. They don't go through that alone in my country.

2. Do people in your country like to rent a place to live?

Metro cities in my country are already struggling to accommodate a large number of population and proper housing is one of the key problems for many. If someone does not have a large sum of money to spend on his accommodation per month, he will surely find it hard to arrange a nice place to live .People who migrate to metropolitan cities in search of livelihood especially prefer to live in rented houses as it is the only viable option they have.

3. Would you live in a foreign country in the future?

It is very difficult for me to live elsewhere, leaving all my comforts to try out something new with just excitement. In my country you can never get bored, there is always something around you that can arouse curiosity. Across the nation, there are so many times when you can appreciate diversity. There are so many people from different religions, cultures, places - yes, language can be a wee bit problem but its our patriotism, brotherhood and now well, English language that unites us the most.

Ideal House Cue Card 1

Describe your ideal house.

You should say:

  • Where your ideal house would be
  • How big it would be
  • Who would live there with you

And say why you would like this home so much.

I think I’d really love to live in an apartment in Paris. Oh, the thought of living in the center of Paris is just amazing! I can’t think of anything I’d love more than to wake up every morning in the city of love, with all its charm and culture right at my doorstep .

When it comes to my dream apartment, location is key. I want to be right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of all the best landmarks and attractions . I can picture myself sipping coffee on my balcony, gazing out at the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral in the distance.

As for the size of the apartment, I want it to be spacious and airy , with plenty of room to move around and entertain. I’d love for it to have high ceilings and lots of natural light, and of course, an amazing view. Can you imagine waking up to the sight of the Seine river below, or the twinkling lights of the city at night? It would be like something out of a fairytale.

In terms of layout , I’d like a modern open floor plan with a spacious living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and at least two bedrooms. One for me, and one for a guest room or office. I also want a luxurious bathroom with a spa tub, because what’s a dream apartment without a little bit of indulgence?

When it comes to design and decor, I want my dream apartment to be chic and stylish , with a mix of modern and traditional elements . I love the idea of having exposed brick walls and original hardwood floors , but also incorporating modern furniture and finishes . And of course, I’d want it to be fully furnished and equipped with all the amenities I could ever need .

But it’s not just about the apartment itself. I want to be part of a vibrant and lively community in the center of Paris, with easy access to all the best restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. I can just picture myself strolling through the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the city, and immersing myself in the culture.

Dream House Cue Card 2

Describe your dream house.

  • How big your dream house would be
  • What the layout would be
  • What you would do there

Why you would enjoy living there so much.

First and foremost, I want my dream house to be located in a peaceful and serene setting , surrounded by nature. Maybe nestled in the mountains, with a stunning view of the valley below, or situated on the coast with the ocean waves crashing in the distance. Either way, I want to wake up to the sound of birds chirpin g and the scent of fresh air every morning.

As for the size of the property, I’d like a decent-sized yard with plenty of room for gardening and outdoor activities. And of course, a pool is a must-have in my dream house. There’s nothing like taking a dip in the cool water on a hot summer day.

Inside, I want a large kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances , as I love to cook and entertain. I can picture myself hosting dinner parties and cookouts in my dream home, with everyone gathering around the kitchen island as I whip up some delicious meals.

In terms of bedrooms and bathrooms, I’d like at least three of each. One for me, one for a guest room, and one for an office/workspace. I also want a luxurious master suite with a walk-in closet and a spa-like bathroom .

As for the design and materials used, I want my dream house to be energy-efficient and sustainable . I’d love for it to be built with reclaimed wood and equipped with solar panels. I’m also a fan of smart home features , so having a fully automated and secure house would be amazing.

Other must-haves in my dream house include a cozy fireplace, a home gym , and a multipurpose room that could serve as a theater or music room. And of course, an outdoor living space like a deck or patio would be the cherry on top .

Ideal House Cue Card 3

  • What location you would choose
  • What the rooms would be like
  • What your life would be like there

And say why this ideal house is so attractive for you.

As a middle-aged man with a large family, I would love nothing more than to live in a quiet, exclusive gated community in a nice suburb of Shanghai. The bustling city has always held a special place in my heart , and having my workplace nearby would be a major plus . But more than anything, I want a safe and nurturing environment for my children to grow up in, with good schools close by.

My dream home would have plenty of space for my family to spread out and relax, with a spacious living room and comfortable bedrooms. I can picture a large backyard with a sprawling lawn and a patio for barbecues and outdoor gatherings . The kitchen would be a cook’s paradise , with top-of-the-line appliances and plenty of counter space for meal prep.

Safety is a top priority for m e, so I would make sure to have a state-of-the-art security system in place to protect my loved ones. And since I love to entertain, it would be great to have a guest room for out-of-town visitors.

Overall, I envision my dream home as a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, where my family can relax and unwind after a long day. It would be the perfect place to raise my children and create lasting memories with my loved ones.

Now, It’s Your Turn

Are you ready now to try to answer this question yourself?

Set up the recorder on your phone and give it a go!

It’s best to record yourself so that you can listen later and try to improve on your answer.

When your recorder is on, ask yourself to ‘Describe your ideal house.’

Then start speaking! Try to keep speaking for 2 minutes without stopping.

Afterward, listen to your recording, and see if you can notice any mistakes. Remember to focus on using interesting vocabulary.

Keep repeating this process. It’s a terrific way to prepare for Part 2 of your IELTS Speaking test.

IELTS CUE CARD

Describe your idea of a perfect home or dream house where you want to live, you should say:.

Where this place would be? idea perfect home live What it would look like? When you would like to live there? Explain why it is ideal to you?

Sample Answer 1

Introduction.

Well almost everyone creates a s clear picture of his or her perfect abode in mind. I also dream of my ideal house and want to turn it into reality

It would be outside the city where I can get rid of the husltle and bustle of modern life and experience peace and happiness. Moreover it will be in a pollution free area. Actually, presently i am living in a congested area. What’s more this is a small-sized house, however I wish to have a huge living space with advanced facilities. It would be a two story house. The ground floor will comprise 4 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a kitchen, a store room and a living room.

And on the first floor there would be a fully equipped gym room, library and meditation room. Apart from this my dream house would contain a swimming pool where I can swim with my friends and a garden in the backyard with all sorts of plants of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Besides i desire to have other facilities in my house like, Wi-Fi, ACs and solar panel.

idea perfect home live

Moving ahead, although this house would have all mod cons, it should also be surrounded by nature and trees. Nextly It will take some time to fulfill my dream of living in a perfect abode because currently I don’t have sufficient amount of money to buy such a house. Explaining further there are a couple of reasons why it’s ideal for me. Firstly, Top-notch facilities in this house makes it a flawless living space for me. Secondly, as it’s a nature-surrounded place, I will always feel myself in the lap of nature.

Sample Answer 2

The house in which I would like to live is a farm house. Though I would not want to live there permanently but yes definitely for the most of my weekends I would love to live in a farmhouse.

I wish that the farmhouse should have minimal facilities and should be more like a cozy hut rather than a lavish apartment. It should just have bare essentials so that I feel closer to mother nature and myself. I desire that the farmhouse should be ideally in the center of a farm and also not very far from my residence.

Not because I want to go back to living in a facilitated home but because I can easily access the farmhouse it should be close by. I would like to live in this kind of a house for various reasons. The very first reason is that I am a nature lover. Another reason is that I can get an opportunity to be away from the hustle bustle life whenever I like.

Living on a farm house will give me an opportunity to grow my own organic food and experience fresh air. I can live longer and have a qualitative life. It will also be an opportunity to feel calmness and be more productive in my work/study. When I talk about this kind of a house in my thoughts I feel keener to really have such a home. It is like a dream home. I feel that we should all experience life in this kind of a home.

We should use less gadgets and electricity and make the most out of daylight and sunlight for our good health. When people dream of furnished apartments and royal houses they forget that they are taking away life from their abode. I will grow my own herbs and use this house to escape from the busy and hectic life. I wish I can make such a house for myself.

Question 1. Do most Indians live in apartments or homes?

Answer – Well it’s determined by the area in which they live, if they reside in urbanized areas like, massive towns, metropolitan cities, they live in apartments because such places tend to be overcrowded and in order to accommodate this proliferating population over there, high-rise buildings are being constructed. But on the flip side population residing in small towns, towns, villages have bigger houses as there is huge space.

Question 2. Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or do they like to live alone?

Answer – Ofcourse youngsters in India prefer to remain with their parents, they follow this tradition. However in this day and age competition is accelerating in each and every field, so young people have to relocate to other cities or countries to make their career or fulfill dreams. For this reason they have to live apart from their loved ones.

Question 3. Would you live in foreign country in the future?

Answer – Undoubtedly yes, i am looking forward to moving abroad for a certain time period for studying and working purpose simultaneously. I reckon, in developed nations such as, Australia, Canada there is advanced education and highest employment rate.

Question 4. How is the design of modern homes in your country different from before?

Answer – In my nation, Homes, which were designed in the past and are being designed in the present time, are vastly different from each other. Nowadays people want all the top-notch facilities in their houses so they are built according to it. Moreover material, used in construction of dwellings is of highly advanced quality. And at the same time it insures protection from natural calamities. However, previously houses were larger, there was less utilization of space. What’s more material quality was not that good.

Question 5. In your country what type of home do most people live in?

Answer – People live in their ideal dwellings according to the members in their family, space or their financial budget. Some live in single-storey houses or others opt for double, multi-storey houses.

Question 6. Do people usually rent or buy a house?

Answer – Well according to my perspective there are two factors which works here, if people are with strong financial health they, definitely like to own a house, otherwise they live in rented houses. Additionally if any person have to migrate from time to time from one place to other place for some purposes, like job, promotion or something like that, he or she, surely will prefer renting a home rather than buying.

Describe your Dream House: Sample Answer 1

The idea of having a dream house brings joy and happiness. The dream will be solely for me to chill, rest and rejuvenate.

I would love to have my dream house around mountains and water streams. I would want to have a small house with basic amenities. The house will be around a lot of greenery.

My dream home will not be very modern, and I would design it to reflect the old architectural style. I prefer to have a large space on the balcony to sit and enjoy nature. The house will have 2 rooms. 1 room will be solely dedicated to making a library.

Nowadays, my whole week is very hectic, which sometimes gets hectic and stressful. I prefer to stay at the dream house during my holidays and weekends and relish the environment.

The day my dream house is built will be the happiest day of my life. It will be a house made out of love and a house where cats will run around.

Describe your Dream House: Sample Answer 2

When you work hard, the first priority that comes to your mind is a house. Similarly, even I envision having a dream house for my family.

I have spent all my life in a small house on the narrow roads of Banaras. Since I shifted to Mumbai for job opportunities, I have always dreamt of having a house in Mumbai.

I imagine my dream house to be a 4-bedroom house with all the modern amenities. The area of the apartment should preferably be in a posh area. The accessibility of all the requirements should be easy.

I would shift to my dream house when I have stability in financial requirements and settled in a job. This house can change my lifestyle forever.

Getting a house in Mumbai will fulfil one of my bucket list wishes. The dream house will change my lifestyle and bring my family more happiness, prosperity and growth.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Discussion

After completing the speaking part 2 test, the examiner might ask follow-up questions related to the cue card topic in speaking part 3 or the discussion round.

We have curated some follow-up questions with answers for your better understanding.

Q. What do Indians prefer apartments or houses?

Answer. According to me, it depends on the region people are living in. If it is a metropolitan city, people prefer apartments because land is scarce. Whereas in the small region, people prefer to live in houses.

Q. How is modern home design in your country different to that of the past?

Answer. The modern home design is very different from the past in my country. The materials used now in making houses are much more advanced, such as weatherproof paints, insulated walls, soundproof windows, etc. The design of the modern houses is according to the space available. There is a better utilisation of space in modern home designs. In the past, homes were more spacious and not equipped to handle the latest electronic gadgets and equipment, like washing machines, microwaves, dishwashers & so on.

Q. What type of home do most people live in in your country?

Answer. India is a vast and diverse country. People live in different types of houses, depending on the area and the climate. For instance, houses made from bamboo in eastern India are very common. In regions where there is snowfall, sloped houses are common.

Q. Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Answer. In my country, young people prefer to live with their parents. When they have to move to another city or country for higher education or better career prospects, it’s part of the Indian culture for children to live with their parents.

So I have been living in a 4-storeyed house for the last twenty years. It seemed fine at first, but as time went by, I gradually realised that there are many things about this house that I don’t like. For example, the stair is so steep that I’m almost always out of breath when I reach my room on the third floor. I want to move somewhere else.

I have to say I prefer a high-rise flat to a house. This is mainly because the air there is fresher and there are fewer mosquitos, which are a terrible nuisance by the way. My ideal flat would be on the 20th floor or so, overlooking the whole neighbourhood. It would have a spacious living room, a fully-fitted kitchen, three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

The living room would need to be large enough to accommodate about 30 people, because I often invite friends over or throw small parties . I would like my sofa to be comfy and big enough to lie in and sleep. The walls have to be sound-proof as I can’t deal with noise; I must have a quiet environment to work or relax.

  • Steep: (of a slope) rising or falling at a sharp angle: Eg: The tent is set up on a steep mountain, where you can spot a breath-taking view.
  • Out of breath: gasping for air, typically after exercise.  Eg: After climbing the mountain, she was out of breath.
  • High-rise: tall modern building with many floors Eg: Rose lives in a high-rise apartment in the city.
  • Overlook:  to provide a view of,  especially from the above.  Eg: John’s house overlooks the valley.
  • Nuisance: someone or something that causes a problem for other people, an area, etc.   Eg: Sheela is such a nuisance that I hate her her company
  • Throw party: to host or hold a gathering.  Eg: John decided to throw a party to his friends.
  • Sound-proof: to prevent sound from coming into a room or building, or from being heard outside it  Eg: Rose was looking for a soundproof apartment.

Sample Answer 2

I would want my ideal house to be comfy and spacious, and it should be located in a not-so-urban area with a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.

Painted in yellow and white, the house would somehow look like a little palace for a royal family. The natural glare of the sun is a must for this house and must contain an effective window system for good ventilation. The home would be equipped with air-conditioning and modern appliances for convenience and comfort. Flowers and trees would be planted around it to decorate and make it look captivating.

My ideal house, full of natural light and surrounded by many exquisite gardens, would be the perfect place for me when I need an escape from my heavy workload in the city. I would be able to relish the fresh air, and living there would be the perfect way to relieve stress.

Having the opportunity to live in such a place would be a dream come true for me, feeling like a king in his castle, and I hope that one day I can build a place like this to live in.

Introduction.

Well, dreams play a PART-AND-PARCEL role in everyone’s life in order to fulfill their desires. Although I have several dreams that I want to ACCOMPLISH throughout my life. But here I would like to talk about the dream of a perfect home where I hope to RESIDE in the future.

If I talk about its location, it would be in the HEART of Chandigarh city. When it comes to its appearance, it will look like a palace from outside. BESIDES this, there would be a garden in the backyard of the house, as my grandfather is a farmer, so he would be able to CULTIVATE organic vegetables and fruits. From inside, it would be a LUXURIOUS RETREAT FURNISHED with every modern facility.

idea perfect home house

I wish to move there after finishing my bachelor’s degree since I would need to find work, and there are global firms in this city that provide fantastic opportunities for growth as well as a handsome income. This house would be ideal for me for a VARIETY OF reasons. The first and foremost is that I am part of a joint family, and our existing home is INSUFFICIENT for us, but it would be large enough for everyone to live peacefully.

The other one factor is that my village lacks educational institutes, so this city would be beneficial for my siblings to study in a REPUTABLE institute. And my relatives are already living in this city, so it would be easier for me to strengthen my bond with them. Furthermore, this house would save me time as every type of store is within WALKING DISTANCE, so I would not need to go to other cities to purchase necessary items. Apart from these, i have heard that this city is more cleaner and safer as compared to others. All in all, this is the idea of a house where I hope to reside in my upcoming time

Sample Answer 2

Well, house is a place in which we live. It helps us safe from bad weather such as rain, sunlight, storm and other natural disasters. Today, i am going to talk about a house which i would like to have in future.

As a matter of fact(Actually), i live in a village and my house is quite old. My grandfather built our home and it has less modern facilities. As i belong to a farmer family, so my dream house would be in our farms. At the weekend, i visit our farms where we grow crops, i feel very fresh after visiting that place.

Having a home in farms helps to reduce stress and i will feel close to the nature. My house would have four bedrooms, a lobby, a kitchen. Apart from this, i will also make a sports area in my home because i am a big fan of sports, i love to play Badminton and Tennis.

I would maintain a kitchen garden as well where i would grow all kind of vegetables. I will plant colorful flowers in the front of main gate which would give an attractive look to my house. So, it would be a great house with all facilities and i hope i would live in such a house one day.

Question 1. Do most Indian people live in an apartment or house?

Answer – Actually, it depends on the type of family as well as their income. If I talk about on behalf of family, if the person is living in a nuclear family, then they prefer to live in an apartment; otherwise, they prefer to live in a house on behalf of income if the person is capable of a higher income than they prefer to have a house in the city; otherwise, they prefer to live in the country.

Question 2. Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Answer – To be honest, these days the young generation wants to reside by themselves as they don’t like the interference of their parents in their personal life and they love to experience different places for better prospects.

Question 3. Do Indian people like to rent a place to live?

Answer – No, not at all. Indian people do not like to rent a place to live, as they love to live at their own place following their own culture and traditions.

Previously, houses were largely horizontal, but today they prefer them to be vertical with more stories.

Question 6. In your country what type of home do most people live in?

Answer – These days, people prefer to live in modern houses as compared to the oldest-style homes because everyone wants to live a sedentary lifestyle, and they also want to show off their wealth power in front of others, and everyone wants more safety and security.

Question 8. How are modern homes different to older homes?

Answer – Modern houses are quite different from the older ones in terms of the design, materials used and the structure of the building. The older homes were more spacious, with proper ventilation, but the modern homes are designed to properly utilize the space due to the shortage of land these days. Moreover, people prefer to have more electronic designs to decorate their homes but in the previous time individuals loved to decorate their homes manually.

My Dream House- An Essay

I always imagine how my future house will be. A home is a place surrounded by the people one loves. A house is not made beautiful by its furniture or decor, but by the people that live inside it. My dream house should be a house that I can share with my family when I grow old. I always dream of a wooden house in the hilly areas. My dream house should be the one facing a small river. Through the windows, I could see the sun setting and disappearing into the mountains. My dream house would have a small garden where I will grow my own vegetables and fruits.

The house that I fancy would be considerably big with four rooms and a spacious common area. My dream house should be comfortable for my parents, grandparents and siblings. The house should be equipped with all the modern amenities. It should have a big TV with a home theatre system and a Playstation attached to it. The walls of the house will have light colours that will make it appear bright. There will be sufficient light bulbs and lamps in every room. I also dream of a chandelier in the guest room and a big sofa where everyone will sit and enjoy watching TV together. My grandparents love reading. I wish that my dream house will have a reading space with lots of books.

I have a 3-year old pet dog called Tiger. I also want to have a small yet cosy space in my house for Tiger where he can sleep and relax when he grows old.
