English Past Question 2021

NECO English Past Questions and Answers PDF Free Download – English is one of the major subjects in Jamb. Before you register for NECO exams, you must set the modalities through which you would follow in studying for the exams. Texts to be read for the exams are always recommended and candidates are expected to cover all aspects of the recommended text to be effectively prepared for the exams.

even if you don’t need the past question for anything, you need to get it because a large chunk of the questions are gotten from the English language. NECO places so much emphasis on the English language and as such, one hundred questions are extracted from that subject alone for the exams.

NECO English Past Questions and Answers Pdf Free Download

NECO English Past Questions and Answers PDF Free Download Pattern

As is customary in jamb exams on all subjects, NECO English past question follows the multi-choice pattern. Questions are given in the company of 3-4 suggested answers and the candidate is expected to choose the most appropriate option from the stream of options.

We have made it simple for you. We bring all the questions which are usually in the objective pattern. We have put them together but indicate the specific years for every question and the correct answers to save you time. All you need to do is to devote quality time to studying the Past Questions.

Why you need NECO English Past Questions and Answers PDF Free Download

As a candidate who is determined to make it in the exams, you do not need to be motivated to get a copy of the last question. But in any case, we have decided to show you some of the benefits of getting this question. See below.

– It Helps you improve on your speed;

The speed at which you will answer questions in the actual exams after having studied this past question will be different from the one you would have used without having studied the past question. This is because as you constantly study the past question, you get used to the terms and as soon as it occurs in the exams, you quickly spot the answer and move on to the next question. This will continue until you are done answering the questions.

Most students sometimes lose marks not necessarily because they do not have answers to the questions but because they run out of time. I know I mentioned that you can use past questions books but there is only one way you can check your speed and that is with the Past Questions.

-You can explore and master answers to the questions

Questions that otherwise would have confused you in the exam hall will not get you sweating because you have the chance to find answers while solving past questions. It is important to take time to check the answers to the questions you solve them.

Sample of NECO English Past Questions and Answers PDF Free Download

As a way of proving our genuineness, we have decided to include the NECO English Past Questions and Answers PDF free Download sample in this post. The various sections and how the question is patterned will be discovered in this post.

Dear Mother,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. Thank you for your love and concern, as always. Your letter brought me much joy, and I am grateful for your support and interest in my future plans.

As I approach the end of my secondary school education here in Nigeria, I have carefully considered the profession I would like to pursue, and I am excited to share my decision with you. After much contemplation and soul-searching, I have set my heart on becoming a Civil Engineer.

I understand that this choice might come as a surprise to you, but allow me to explain my reasons for selecting this profession. First and foremost, I have always been intrigued by the world of construction and infrastructure development. Growing up in Nigeria, I have witnessed both the challenges and the opportunities we face in the field of civil engineering. The state of our roads, bridges, and public facilities often leaves much to be desired. I believe that as a civil engineer, I can play a pivotal role in improving the physical infrastructure of our nation, contributing to its progress and development.

Nigeria is a country with immense potential, and I am eager to be part of its transformation. With a rapidly growing population, there is a pressing need for skilled professionals who can design and build sustainable structures and systems. I want to be at the forefront of these efforts, ensuring that our communities have access to safe and reliable infrastructure.

Moreover, civil engineering is a field that offers diverse career opportunities. From designing and constructing buildings to working on transportation systems and water supply projects, there is a wide range of specializations within this profession. This flexibility excites me, as it allows me to explore different areas and find the niche that best aligns with my interests and strengths.

Another reason for choosing civil engineering is the potential to make a positive impact on the environment. I am deeply passionate about sustainability and environmental conservation. As a civil engineer, I can adopt eco-friendly practices and incorporate green technologies into my projects, reducing our ecological footprint and preserving the natural beauty of Nigeria for future generations.

Furthermore, pursuing a career in civil engineering is aligned with my academic strengths and interests. Throughout my secondary school education, I have consistently excelled in mathematics and physics. These subjects form the foundation of civil engineering, and I find great joy in applying their principles to solve real-world problems.

Lastly, I have conducted thorough research on reputable universities in Nigeria and beyond that offer excellent civil engineering programs. I am confident that with hard work and dedication, I can gain admission to one of these institutions and receive a quality education that will equip me with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in this field.

In conclusion, I am passionate about becoming a civil engineer and contributing to the development of Nigeria. I believe that this profession aligns with my values, interests, and academic strengths, providing me with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my fellow citizens. Your unwavering support means the world to me, and I promise to work diligently towards achieving this goal.

Thank you once again for your love and encouragement. I look forward to your response and the guidance you can offer as I embark on this exciting journey.

                Yours lovingly,                 CHINEKS.

Indiscipline among Secondary School Students and Ways of Curbing it

Secondary school is a crucial phase in the life of a student where they are not only acquiring knowledge but also developing their personality and character. However, in recent years the issue of indiscipline among secondary school students has become a cause for concern. It is not uncommon to hear stories of students engaging in acts of vandalism bullying substance abuse and even violence. This indiscipline not only affects the overall learning environment but also hinders students’ personal growth and future prospects.

Indiscipline among students can manifest in various ways. Some students may consistently skip classes or arrive late disrupting the flow of learning. Others may engage in disruptive behavior during class interrupting the teacher and distracting fellow students. Then there are those who resort to violence or bullying creating a hostile and unsafe atmosphere. All these instances of indiscipline have long-term consequences for the students themselves as well as for their peers and the school community as a whole.

There are several underlying causes of indiscipline among secondary school students. One primary factor is the lack of proper guidance and supervision from parents or guardians. In many cases parents are too preoccupied with their own lives or neglectful of their children’s activities leaving them to their own devices. This lack of attention and guidance can result in students seeking their own path often leading to indiscipline.

Another contributing factor is the influence of peers. Teenagers are highly susceptible to peer pressure and can easily be swayed by their friends’ actions and attitudes. If a student’s social circle consists of individuals who engage in indiscipline it is highly likely that they will also indulge in such behavior. Schools need to create an environment where positive peer influence is encouraged and students have role models to look up to.

Furthermore the current education system often focuses solely on academic achievements putting immense pressure on students to perform well. This intense pressure can lead to stress anxiety and frustration among students making them more prone to indiscipline. It is imperative for schools to adopt a holistic approach to education considering the overall development of students’ physical mental and emotional well-being.

To curb the issue of indiscipline among secondary school students various measures can be implemented. Firstly there needs to be enhanced communication and collaboration between parents teachers and students. Regular parent-teacher meetings should be conducted to discuss student progress and any behavioral concerns. Parents should be actively involved in their child’s life providing guidance and support.

Additionally schools should prioritize character development and impart values such as respect empathy and responsibility. This can be done through extracurricular activities community service projects and workshops on life skills. By instilling these values early on students will be more likely to exhibit disciplined behavior and make positive choices in their lives.

Creating a safe and inclusive school environment is also crucial in curbing indiscipline. Schools should have strict policies against bullying violence and substance abuse with a zero-tolerance approach. Teachers should undergo training on conflict resolution and classroom management techniques to effectively deal with disciplinary issues. Encouraging open communication and providing counseling services are also important in addressing the underlying problems that may lead to indiscipline.

Ultimately curbing indiscipline among secondary school students requires a collective effort from parents teachers and the education system as a whole. By creating a nurturing and disciplined environment fostering positive values and providing appropriate guidance and support we can reshape the future of our students. Let us work together to instill discipline and ensure that our secondary school students are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

Readthe passage below carefully and answer the questions on it. "Water Meandering"! The mention of this topic usually takes me retrospectively to my secondary school days. It also reminds me of our geography class. We were a set of three streams: A, B and C, and Isee myself in our class with my classmates well seated. The subject we never liked was geography. This was quite surprising to our Guidance Counsellor who worked hard to ensure that most of us offered geography up to the School Certificate Level. Not only our Guidance Counsellor, our school Principal was also surprised at our attitude towards geography. He had always encouraged us to choose geography as one of our subjects for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). He once boasted: "In the near future, Ishall travel by air with one of you seated as my pilot." We had received this encouragement with thunderous ovation, but our old geography teacher became the spoiler. Our old geography teacher killed inus the zeal of becoming future pilots, or, would Isay, he destroyed our urge of becominguseful citizens of our fatherland. When this teacher left and Mr. Udenkwo was posted to our school to handle geography, we realized that "Water Meandering" was not the only topic in geography. In fact, we discovered that "Water Meandering" was not even a topic on its own. But before this time, the only topic we knew in geography but which we could not really explain, was "Water Meandering." Also, with the coming of Mr. Udenkwo, as young boys and girls, we began to ask questions about the competence of our old geography teacher. From these questions, we realized that our old geography teacher was not a subject specialist after all. We realized too that this teacher only had the Teachers' Grade II Certificate. Whether he studied geography at the Teachers' Training College (TTC) or not, was another thing we could not uncover. On the other hand, we discovered that Mr. Udenkwo had a bachelor's degree in geography. But before Mr. Udenkwo was posted to our school, much harm had already been done. So, all his efforts to bring us back to the subject proved abortive. Only one of us heeded his entreaties. To demonstrate his ingenuity in the subject, Mr. Udenkwo took his only 'apostle' from the scratch. When we finally took the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), surprisingly, this student made a distinction in geography. Today, this same student is a professor of geography. Our story is typical of what obtains in most secondary schools inNigeria; many teachers are made to handle subjects they do not major in, thereby "killing" the morale of their 6 students. This practice should be discouraged by school administrators. Therefore, subject specialists should be made to handle their areas of specialty, especially at the School Certificate Level. Read the passage below carefully and answer the questions on it. When Nigeria returned from the London 2012 Olympic Games without a single medal, the refrain among the country's sports administrators was that the lessons of the bad outing would serve the nation well in going forward. Never again was the general cry from the Nigerianpublic, who felt that the country with a youth population of over 70 million deserved better than a barren show at the world's biggest stage. The London 2012 Olympic Games was the first competition since the 1988 Games in Seoul that Nigeria would participate in without winning a single medal. Following the outcry that trailed the poor performance, the then president convened a sports summit where all the experts pointed at poor preparation and low morale as the reasons for the country's shameful performance in London. After the summit, the general consensus was that for Nigeriato get it right again, the country must drop the fire brigade approach to preparations for major competitions. There was also the agreement that preparations for future Olympic Games should start early and thus many youth programmes should be lined up by the National Sports Commission (NSC) to nurture and produce champions. However, shortly after the summit, the then sports minister was replaced. Thus the programme and the path to success laid by experts at the summit were put aside. First to go was the Nigerian Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM), which was supposed to champion the youth development programme expected to lead the country to the podium in subsequent international competitions. Following that, was the total blackout of the majority of the federations from international competitions which were supposed to help the athletes gauge their standard, as well as ease the upcoming stars on to the world stage. The reason for the neglect of the federations was lack of funds, but surprisingly, the resources always managed to be available whenever it is football programme. With the exit ofthe last administration, most of the sports federations heaved a sigh of relief, believing that the new regime would treat all the federations equally. However, such expectations have been hampered by the continued apathy to the needs of the Nigerian sports in an Olympic year. To feature at the Olympic Games, athletes are expected to go through qualifiers with their mates from other countries. Absence from the qualifiers means that the athlete or team has automatically been ruled out of the games. So it has emerged that, Nigeria may not feature in some of its core events due to its athletes' inability to participate insome championships that served as qualifiers for the Olympics. https://stcharlesedu.com FREE COPY - SUMMARY PASSAGE QUESTIONS REMOVED S1013 III ENGLISH LANGUAGE 1hour NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL Senior School Certificate Examination https://stcharlesedu.com 1hour ENGLISH LANGUAGE PAPER III Do not open this paper until you are told to do so. No (3) Good morning respected judges, my worthy opponents, My colleagues and audience,

I (your name) hereby standing for the motion that says religious studies should be made compulsory for students in secondary schools and if I have your permission I would like to begin by defining religious studies. Religious studies also known as the study of religion , is an academic field devoted to research into religious beliefs, behaviors , and institutions. It describes, compares, interprets, and explains religion, emphasizing systematic, historically based, and cross-cultural perspectives.

From The above definition it is obvious that religious studies is of great important and should be made compulsory in secondary schools with The following points of mine.

Firstly, One of the most common importance of Religious teachings is that it helps students understand the place of various religions in our society. It helps them resolve the important questions of their own inner self and this understanding contributes to a more just and cohesive society.

Secondly, Religious education in any school should not simply be a subject making up a proportion of the taught curriculum.

It needs to pervade the congenial environment in the school. Such an environment is not just good for the school but also for the society as a whole as well primarily because students are themselves the propagators of moral values and these are the values that are the most valued and cherished for the quality of relationships amongst the whole humanity.

By listening and responding to stories from religious traditions, students are assimilating it as part of their personal, social and emotional development. They have opportunities to take part in celebrations and special events whilst using their understanding in communication, language and literacy. Utilising artefacts, music, stories and art from varying cultures helps them in increasing their knowledge and understanding of the world increases as they ask questions about religion, culture and worship and develop attitudes of curiosity and respect.

Thirdly, It introduces students to different cultures and religions through various learning about stories, people, places and times of special importance, and artefacts and beliefs that are part of modern life and society. Students are encouraged to respond sensitively to all religions, traditions and cultures, using their imagination and sense of wonder. I believe I have confused you enough with my points. Their study of faiths develops appropriate, secular view of the world and a religious community with a significant local presence. Thank You.

No (4) Once upon a time there lived a carefree and complacent young man named, Jagu. He had high dreams but low actions. He often dreamed and boasted that one day he will amaze the world with his feats. His father was a very wise man. He wanted to put some sense in him. He wanted to instil in him that if he wanted to be successful, he must work for it. So, he made a plan to teach his lesson. He took the help of a fortuneteller.

He sent him to Jagu. The fortuneteller said to Jagu. “I am a famous fortuneteller; I know something big is going to happen in your life on the first day of the next month. Take this flower and keep it with you.” Jagu was quite excited to get the flower from the fortuneteller.

He went home and told the incident that success was coming his way. He will prove it to the world on the first day of the next month. He told all his friends and relatives. Everyone was curious to see as to what would happen on the first day of the next month. The most excited person was Jagu himself. The night before the first day of the next month he could not sleep. And the next morning as he woke up, he found the day to be as normal as the other days had been. No news of any success came. The day came and just went ordinarily. Jagu became quite dejected.

At the right time his father came and told Jagu, “Success does not come with dreaming and predictions, you have to work hard and win it and create it. Go out, and create your own success with efforts.” Jagu learnt the lesson and stopped counting his chickens before they were hatched.
