Materi Kelas 8 : Chapter VII (My Uncle is a Zoo Keeper)

Materi kali ini merupakan rangkuman singkat materi Chapter VII mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa siswi SMP/MTs kelas 8 semester II mengenai Simple Present Tense. Rangkuman ini bertujuan sebagai bahan referensi untuk belajar bagi siswa-siswi maupun referensi mengajar untuk guru. Mari kita lihat apa itu Simple Present Tense.

Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense adalah tenses yang digunakan untuk mengekspresikan peristiwa yang terjadi secara berulang-ulang atau menjadi rutinitas seperti menyatakan aksi berupa kebiasaan, hobi, dan fakta.

Penggunaan Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang terjadi pada saat sekarang. Simple present tense digunakna untuk meyatakan general truth / kebenaran umum, contohnya: the sun sunrises in the east (matahari terbit di timur). Tenses ini juga digunkana untuk menggambarkan tindakan yang menjadi rutinitas atau menjadi kebiasaan yang berulang (habitual actions). Selain itu, simple present tense juga digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang sudah terjadwal / direncanakan.

Rumus Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense memiliki dua bentuk kalimat didalamnya. Pertama yakni kalimat nominal. Kalimat nominal merupakan kalimat yang tidak ada verb di dalamnya tetapi biasanya dalam kalimat tersebut terdapat adjective , noun , adverb , dan lain-lain. Kedua yakni kalimat verbal. Kalimat tersebut merupakan kalimat yang di dalamnya terdapat verb . Untuk lebih jelas mari perhatikan rumus dari kalimat nominal dan kalimat verbal.

Kalimat Nominal

• (+) Subject + to be + adj/noun/adverb Examples : I am a teacher / Saya seorang guru My parents are happy / Orang tua saya bahagia She is very beautiful / Dia sangat cantik –
• (-) Subject + to be + not + adj/noun/adverb Examples: She is not happy with her marriage / Dia tidak Bahagia dengan pernikahannya Your father is not angry / Ayahmu tidak marah I am not a doctor / Saya bukan dokter –
• (?) To be + Subject + adj/noun/adverb Examples: Are you a teacher? / Apakah kamu seorang guru? Is she happy with her marriage? / Apakah dia Bahagia dengan pernikahannya? Are Salsa and Teddy in the classroom? / Apakah Salsa dan Teddy di kelas? – Note : Subject I menggunakan to be am , Subejct They, We, You menggunakan to be are , Subject She, He, It menggunakan to be is .

Kalimat Verbal

• (?) Does/do + Subject + Verb 1 + Object + adverb + … Examples: Do you have bicycle? / Apakah kamu mempunyai sepeda? Does she like banana? / Apakah dia menyukai pisang? Do you go to hospital every Saturday? / Apakah kalian pergi ke rumah sakit setiap hari Sabtu? – Note: Subject She, He, It kata kerjanya / V1 ditambah s/es tetapi di dalam kalimat negative maupun kalimat tanya subject tersebut kata kerjanya tanpa s/es . Sedangkan untuk subject I, You, They, We kata kerjanya tetap atau masih utuh. Untuk membuat kalimat negative dan kalimat tanya digunakan kata bantu do/does .

Untuk memudahkan kalian, perhatikan aturan kata kerja (Verb) untuk orang ketiga tunggal seperti She, He, It yang ditambahkan akhiran s/es :

• Pertama, kata kerja / Verb yang berakhiran -sh, -s, -ch, -o, -x, atau -z mendapatkan akhiran -es. Contohnya go menjadi goes , wash menjadi washes , etc. –
• Kedua, kata kerja yang berakhiran -y dan didahului dengan huruf consonant / mati mendapatkan akhiran -es dengan merubah akhirannya dari -y menjadi -i. Contohnya study menjadi studies , cry menjadi cries , dye menjadi dies , etc. –
• Ketiga, Verb yang berakhiran -y dan didahului dengan huruf vowel / hidup mendapatkan akhiran -s dengan tidak mengubah akhirannya dari -y menjadi -i. contohnya enjoy menjadi enjoys , stay menjadi stays . –
• Keempat, selain dari aturan kata kerja / Verb yang sudah dijelaskan pada poin satu sampai tiga, mendapat akhiran -s. Contohnya cook menjadi cooks , read menjadi reads , sing menjadi sings , etc. –
• Kelima, khusus jika menggunakan subject orang ketiga tunggal seperti She, He, It, untuk kata kerja Have berubah menjadi Has .

Jadi simple present tense bisa kita gunakan saat kita menjelaskan sebuah fakta seperti mendeskripsikan hewan dan lain-lain. Tenses ini juga biasa kita gunakan untuk menjelaskan aktifitas sehari-hari atau daily activities. Kalian bisa coba praktik dengan membuat list aktifitas sehari-hari kalian dari bangun tidur sampai hendak tidur dengan menggunakan bahasa inggris. Hal ini bisa membantu kalian untuk lebih memahami tenses ini.

Ondel-ondel is made of bamboo structure. Its face is made of wood-mask. Its hair is made of palm-fibre. A man inside the structure moves dropping. A pair of ondel-ondels is usually preformed to celebrate a child circumcision. Traditional music like gambang kromong, gasidah, tanjidor, or gendang pencak, acompanies with procession. Of course children are interested in following it.

In the old days, people believed that a couple of ondel-ondel were the manifestation of God and Goddess who would protect the circumcised boy from danger or evil. New ondel-ondel is performed to welcome guest in opening ceremonies held in Jakarta and places nearby.
