Globe to offer iPad (2022) and iPad Pro (2022) via GPlans

Globe has announced that they will be offering both the iPad (2022) and iPad Pro (2022) through the GPlan postpaid plans. Both devices are the latest iPad offerings from Apple packing improved specifications with the iPad Pro coming with the new M2 silicon, an 11-inch or 12.9-inch miniLED display, and iPadOS 16.1.

The iPad Pro sports Apple’s M2 – their next generation of chips. It promises improved power efficiency and custom technologies. It supports pro cameras, Face ID, Thunderbolt, and a four-speaker audio system. It also comes with WiFi + 5G capabilities and support for Apple Pencil.

On the other hand, the new iPad has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display, an A14 Bionic chip, and 12MP cameras for both the back and the front. It can take 4K videos and supports WiFi 6 for faster transfer speeds.

Globe’s GPlans: What you need to know

Globe has recently added the all-new GPlans powered by GCash to its GPlan offers. Dubbed as Globe’s most flexible subscription plans yet, GPlans are packed with various essentials such as data, free GoWiFi access, unlimited all-net calls and texts, free KonsultaMD subscription for health essentials as well as GCash credits. What else do you need to know about GPlans? Let’s dig deeper!

Globe ’s GPlans are the telco’s latest postpaid plan offerings. GPlans are available to customers who want to apply for postpaid subscriptions as well as existing postpaid customers who are up for plan renewal.

The telco revealed that the old plans, including ThePLAN, ThePLAN PLUS, and TheBASIC PLAN 499, are no longer available. However, the new GPlan is available for as low as PHP 599 up to PHP 7,999 per month. GPlan now offers the following variants:

• GPlan with Device – for those who want to choose from a range of mobile phones, tablets, and wearables. They either come for free or with a one-time cash-out or charged to their monthly bill.

• GPlan SIM-Only – for those who want to get double data allowance, unlimited calls and texts, but still use their existing devices.

• GPlan SIM-Only All-Data – gives subscribers data allocation of up to 80GB per month.

• GPlan with GCash – a limited-time promo offer that allows users to choose from various offers such as premium content subscriptions, vouchers from Globe’s partners, or product boosters. GPlan with GCash is available from March 26 to June 30, 2021, only.

Meanwhile, GPlans are also available as Platinum GPlans 3799, 4999, and 7999 for Platinum customers.

GCash credits

As per Globe, the GCash credits that come with GPlan (with GCash) can be spent through the following:

• Avail of premium subscriptions in HBOGo, YouTube Premium, YouTube Music, Discovery+, NBA, and more. • Buy gaming consoles from Globe’s partners or subscribe to gaming promo offers. • Get add-ons to boost mobile data (GoBOOST, GoSURF, SURF4ALL), pay for Globe At Home bill, avail of WiFi Mesh, etc. • Buy essentials and leisure items in Lazada, Shopee, Grab, Metromart, FoodPanda, and more. • Avail of GInsure for COVID-19 and dengue medical coverage. • Purchase a new gadget such as iPad 8th Gen, Mi Notebook, or Huawei Matebook. • Payment for rides via Grab, Lalamove, etc.

The GCash credit will be sent in 24-48 hours upon plan activation or effectivity of the new contract in case of plan renewal. GPlan subscribers will receive a text from GCash notifying the GCash credit received from the new postpaid plan.

However, in case subscribers failed to receive the GCash credit that comes with the postpaid plan, they may file a concern in GlobeOne Help & Support, and a GCash representative will address the issue within 3-5 business days.

Inclusions and contract period

All GPlans come with a free 3GB of GoWiFi, a free subscription to KonsultaMD, and a limited-time free 3-month GInsure. The free three months of GInsure offers PHP 140,500 worth of insurance coverage against COVID-19, dengue, made possible through GCash and Singlife Philippines.

Do note that the unlimited calls to all networks under GPlan 599 is part of GPlan’s introductory promo, valid only until June 30, 2021.

GPlan with Device has 12, 24, and 36-month contracts, depending on the device customers choose. On the other hand, GPlan with GCash has a contract of 24 months, whereas GPlan SIM-Only and SIM-Only All Data both have a contract of 6 months.

Interested customers may avail of GPlan through the following channels nationwide:

To apply through the Globe Online Shop, follow the steps below.

1. Select Postpaid Plan (GPlan with Device, GPlan with Device, GPlan SIM-Only, or GPlan SIM-Only All-Data) 2. Prepare application documents: Proof of identification, proof of billing address, and proof of financial capacity 3. Fill out the online application form, and attach all the requirements for faster approval. 4. Wait for updates on the application via text or email within seven business days. Those who didn’t receive updates may email at [email protected] .

GPlan’s Data Rollover

With GPlans, the subscribers’ unused data allowance for the current billing month can be extended to the next billing month. Do note that the validity of data rollover is only within the following month. If the data remains unused in the third month, the rolled-over data gets forfeited.

Moreover, data rollover applies only to the plan’s main data allowance. This means that unused data coming from data add-ons do not support the rollover feature.

Subscribers may check their data allowance via the GlobeOne app dashboard or through SMS by sending DATA BAL to 8080.

GPlan Add-Ons

As per Globe, GPlans subscribers can also get an add-on at any time. Add-ons will be automatically charged in addition to the subscribers’ monthly plan for the current bill period. Check out the table below.

Convert data to Rewards points

GPlan subscribers may also maximize their unusual and active (unexpired) data by converting them to points. 1GB of data is equivalent to 10 Globe Rewards points. This applies to the remaining balance from their main data allowance, data rollover, and active data add-ons.

Besides, the validity of converted Globe Rewards points can be checked through the GlobeOne app upon conversion.

Record date is determined for south bow spinoff.

CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 09, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- News Release – TC Energy Corporation (TSX, NYSE: TRP) (TC Energy or the Company) today announced the setting of the distribution record date of Sept. 25, 2024 for the previously announced spinoff of TC Energy’s Liquids Pipelines business into South Bow Corporation (South Bow), by way of a plan of arrangement (the Arrangement). Pursuant to the Arrangement, TC Energy shareholders will retain their interest in TC Energy and receive a pro rata interest in South Bow, as further described in the management information circular of TC Energy dated April 10, 2024.

The spinoff has received the requisite tax rulings in Canada and the U.S., as well as required shareholder and court approvals. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of the remaining closing conditions to the Arrangement, it is expected that the Arrangement will become effective on Oct. 1, 2024.

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will both implement “due bill” trading markets for common shares of TC Energy (TC Energy Common Shares) commencing Sept. 25, 2024 and ending at the close of business on Oct. 1, 2024. The TC Energy Common Shares are expected to trade in the “due bill” markets under the designation TRP on both the TSX and NYSE.

Additionally, the TSX will implement an "if, as and when issued" trading market commencing Sept. 25, 2024 and ending at the close of business on Oct. 1, 2024 for TC Energy Common Shares and common shares of South Bow (South Bow Common Shares). The TC Energy Common Shares and South Bow Common Shares will trade in the “if, as and when issued” trading markets under the designation TRP.W and SOBO, respectively, on the TSX. There will not be an "if, as and when issued" trading market for the TC Energy Common Shares nor the South Bow Common Shares on the NYSE.

The TC Energy Common Shares will resume "regular way" trading on the TSX and the NYSE on Oct. 2, 2024 under the designation TRP. The South Bow Common Shares will commence "regular way" trading under the designation SOBO on the TSX on Oct. 2, 2024, but will not trade "regular way" on the NYSE until one trading day after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) declares South Bow's registration statement on Form 40-F effective. TC Energy currently expects that the South Bow Common Shares will commence "regular way" trading on the NYSE on or about Oct. 7, 2024. Estimated proportionate allocation of adjusted cost base between TC Energy Common Shares and South Bow Common Shares is expected to be posted on the TC Energy and South Bow websites when available during fourth quarter 2024.

TC Energy and South Bow each intend to declare independent dividends for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2024 on Nov. 7, 2024, reflecting their respective proportionate amounts of TC Energy’s dividend prior to the Arrangement. The dividends are expected to be paid on Jan. 31, 2025 to shareholders of record on Dec. 31, 2024. All dividends, including the expected dividends to be declared on Nov. 7, 2024, are subject to the discretion and approval of each company's respective Board of Directors.

Globe iPad Air and iPad Mini Postpaid Plans

Globe has released Postpaid Plans for both iPad Air and iPad Mini with retina. Unlike Smart who offered both tablets under Plan 1499, Globe has it at the lowest postpaid plan 499, plus they have an unlimited LTE/Internet offer under Plan 999.

Globe iPad Air LTE Globe iPad Air plan starts at Plan 499, with a monthly amortization of P1,125 for 24 months. Under Plan 499, subscriber gets 85 hours of Internet (or LTE access whenever possible). Globe offers a no-contract for a fee of P28,990 . Under this plan, you get iPad Air LTE 16G.

Globe also offers iPad Air LTE with unlimited LTE under Plan 999, you cash out for this plan is P22,200. Cash out can be charged via your credit card with zero percent interest.

Globe iPad Mini LTE with Retina The smaller brother, iPad Mini is offered under the same plan – Plan 499 with 85 hours LTE surfing, and Plan 999 with Unlimited LTE access. The cash out for Plan 499 is P23,990 or you can choose to pay it P1,000 monthly under Plan 499. Cash out for iPad Mini under Plan 999 is P18,000.

Australia has a plan to combat the iPad kid: Set a national age limit for social media

• Australia's putting an age limit on social media this year.
• "I want them off their devices," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.
• Opponents fear the law could push kids toward more dangerous channels.

The Australian government wants kids off their screens and into the great outdoors.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government was planning age limits for social media to protect young people's mental and physical health, Reuters reported .

An exact age minimum hasn't been finalized, but Albanese floated a range of 14 to 16.

The government is exploring how to enforce the new law, he told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

"This one is for the mums and dads," Albanese said in a video on X . "I want kids to have a childhood. I want them off their devices and onto the footy field and onto the netball courts. I want them to have real experiences with real people."

Representatives for Meta, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, and X did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

While most social-media platforms bar children under 13, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida signed a bill in March preventing kids under 14 from using social media.

Opponents of the proposed Australian law say it may not stop kids from using the internet but instead drive them to less safe parts of the web.

According to Reuters, Australia's eSafety Commissioner, a government agency dedicated to online safety, said in June that "restriction-based approaches may limit young people's access to critical support" and encourage them to seek out "less regulated non-mainstream services."

"We know online harms can threaten safety across a range of platforms at any age, both before and after the mid-teen years," the eSafety Commissioner said Monday in a press release . "We need to continue preparing our young people for the technology trends and digital environment of the future."

Globe residential plans vs. Globe business plans. Are globe at home plans throttled?

We have talked to a globe contractor suggesting that we take a globe business fiber plan instead of a personal plan.

He said that Business plans are much better because there is a cap of around 150GB/month in personal plans, which, once consumed, would throttle your internet speed. In business plan, that cap is refreshed daily.

How true is this? Or is this just a scam to trick us into getting a plan from him?
