UOU Assignment 2023

Uttarakhand Open University is a distance learning open university located in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. It provides various programs including B.A , B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, MA, MSc, MBA, PhD Etc. Assignments are Home Work / Project Work for every UOU Program.

Uttarakhand Open University has announced that students of all undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate courses don’t have to submit assignments offline. The assignments will be in the form of online examinations. In this context, pay special attention to the following.

There will be 20 factual questions in the assignment.
The assignment will consist of fact-based questions only with four options.
The level of questions will be like this; 6 Simple questions, 7 Moderate questions & 7 Difficult questions.

Each question will be of one number. If the assignment is of 10 numbers, then each question will be of half mark.

If any student doesn’t pass the assignment exam on the first attempt, he will get another chance but keep in mind that there will be given a maximum of two chances. Students who will not be able to pass the assignment exam on the appropriate two occasions will be given the option of back paper.

On March 17, 2024, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) issued the Jan/July 2024 session assignments for all programmes. The assignments are now available on the official ignou.ac.in website. The deadline for submitting assignments has been extended by IGNOU; candidates can now submit their assignments till June 30, 2024. The deadline had already been extended until June 15, 2024.

Assignments, Term End Examinations, Project or Practical Examinations are all part of IGNOU's multi-tiered evaluation system. Every IGNOU student is required to complete and submit their assignments to the study centre before the deadline. Erin b. logan ba’17: from vanderbilt scholar to white house reporter.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai once stated, “A diverse mix of voices leads to better discussions, decisions, and outcomes for everyone.”

Erin B. Logan, BA’17, is a shining example of this as she gives voice to often unheard perspectives as a White House reporter covering The Biden-Harris administration for The Los Angeles Times . As she covers some of our country’s most critical issues for one of the largest newspapers in the country, Logan credits her Vanderbilt experience with shaping her into the journalist she is today.

While at Vanderbilt, Logan double-majored in History and African American & Diaspora Studies, with an Italian Studies minor. As a student she wrote several op-eds for Vanderbilt’s student newspaper, The Hustler . This experience fueled her passion for digging deeply into people’s stories, and ultimately pushed her to pursue a career in journalism.

After graduating from Vanderbilt in 2017, she moved to Washington, D.C. to attend journalism school at American University. She completed internships with The Washington Post and NPR before landing her first job with a community newspaper affiliated with The Baltimore Sun . This job led to her position with The L.A. Times , where Logan has worked for the last three years. She recently joined The L.A. Times’ Washington bureau as a general assignment reporter, contributing to stories for the daily news cycle and covering President Biden and Vice President Harris.

During her time in the College of Arts and Science, Logan developed a mentoring relationship with Alice Randall, writer in residence of African American and Diaspora Studies.

“It is vitally important that our journalists be informed, critical, and independent thinkers,” said Randall. “Erin B. Logan is all of that, and she is this: a person of courage, motivated by a desire to inform readers, motivated by a desire to create increasingly transparent connections between the governed and the governing.”

Through Randall’s classes, Logan says she discovered ideas that helped her become a better storyteller. “I learned the importance of a diversity of perspectives on anything and everything, how that informs the world, and how you can tell stories through that,” said Logan.

Working as a White House reporter, Logan is often in spaces that have not always been welcoming to many people, especially Black women, and she has experienced difficult moments during her career because of her race and gender. In her current role, Logan is the only woman and person of color on a team of all white men—something she says would normally make her apprehensive. However, she notes that the positive workplace environment fostered by her colleagues makes her feel welcomed, which she feels is a rare occurrence for many who would be in this situation.

“I am in a space right now where I can be authentically myself, and that is a very special thing,” said Logan. “That’s not the experience with most people where they feel like they have to act a certain way, do their hair a certain way, say things a certain way, or not say certain things to avoid being pigeonholed as the ‘race reporter.’”

Although Logan doesn’t want to be labeled as such, she is proud to be a Black woman from the South in journalism and feels her presence is important to provide a new perspective to the public, using a voice that they don’t often get to hear.

“Reporters have a lot of power in the way that they frame stories – it can impact what a person takes away from it.”

And Logan is using her power as a journalist to inform people from all backgrounds about the complicated and nuanced workings of their government.

What Tasks to Give to a New Business Analyst

This question comes to us from Marie, who is a business analyst manager and often has people in her organization approach her for help getting started in business analysis. She wanted to know how to find the right task, or first assignment, that will help increase their confidence and expand their capabilities.

This is Laura Brandenburg from Bridging the Gap. Today’s question comes to us from Marie, who is a business analyst manager, and often has people in her organization approach her for help getting started in business analysis. She wanted to know how to find that right task, or the first assignment, that will help increase their confidence and expand their capabilities.

My First Business Analyst Tasks

As you know, I was in QA before I was a business analyst. Many of you know. I talk about that often. I had experience with testing, test planning, reviewing requirements, and the flow of software projects. I had never written a requirements document before. I started by shadowing a BA in her meetings. I got to take meeting notes and update her deliverables and draft deliverables, and gradually, I was taking on more and more responsibility to help her. A new project opened, and I was assigned to work on that project. I went from shadowing her, to a huge, big project. It was one of the bigger projects our organization had ever undertaken. I also had her guidance, at first. That provided a lot of confidence and stability for me.

First, Choose Business Analyst Tasks to Increase Confidence

How can you take this experience and create a model for how you assign your new tasks to business analysis?

First, I think you want to start with a skills assessment . I shared my approach to that in another video, so we’ll link to that here , about how to go through what their transferable skills are, and what they bring to the profession.

You want to choose a task that’s going to help increase their confidence. It’s either going to be formalizing something they’ve done before, but not in the “formal” way, or something that they had a big gap in. Maybe they’ve never done a data model, or they’ve never done anything like a business process. (And if this is their first time analyzing a process, be sure to download our free business process template which incorporates a host of best practices on process modeling and will give them a head start.)

For a business subject matter expert, you might ask them to meet with a few stakeholders and analyze a business process in their area. Give them a structure. A goal of what that process would be. Perhaps, even a few questions to ask so they know what they’re looking for.

For a QA engineer, you might ask them to document an area of system functionality in a use case. To take that knowledge they have of the system and how to write test cases for the system and get more prescriptive into the view of how the system actually should work.

Ideally, they’d start, for a current state system view, and then the next step would be to evolve that into doing some discovery work and evolve that into updating the functionality in a to-be use case as well so you’re getting that full range of business analysis experience.

So that’s starting with the technique. I think, we think we have to give them a whole project. I think starting with the individual techniques, this is what we do in The Business Analyst Blueprint®. It’s a great way to get that confidence started without having to tackle the entire project all at once.

Assign Business Analyst Tasks to Cultivate Independence

Once you do this, you want to create experiences for them, though, to cultivate more independence. I’ve done this technique, and this technique, and this technique. Could I put that together on a project, or could I start it from scratch or identify the process from start to end? Find the stakeholders myself that I need to work with. Kind of all these ways to take that first level experience and expand it to new experiences.

You also might start to bring them into the projects that you’re working on. Maybe, at first, they’re doing this specific use case, business process, or data modeling work, like on a project that you’ve led and scoped and planned out. And then bring them into the beginning and say, okay, now I’m starting a new project and I don’t know what information I need. I don’t know what the business objectives are. We don’t have to scope to find, yet.

Let me walk you through how I approach that and have them shadow you through some of those tasks, and then take on the more detailed analysis as well.

Go From Individual Business Analyst Tasks to New Projects

Then, eventually, of course, you want to prepare them to start a new project all on their own. It might start with a small one, and then gradually get to more stakeholders, more complexity, until they’re running full-fledged projects like you’re doing as a business analyst today.

And, so, I think just starting with the independent tasks first, and then merging that into full projects, and then thinking about how they would shadow you on some of those projects and then take some of those projects independently on their own is a good way to think about graduating tasks.

Once you go through a skills assessment with somebody, you might discover they’ve done a lot of things before. If somebody is coming from a background of a project manager, or a technical development lead manager, which is a common path into business analysis, they might have more experience with that business objectives scope definition phase, and they might need more help with the detailed requirements phase of how to put together the business processes and all of that. You might shadow them to get the project started, and then provide more guidance and support as they do those detailed business analysis deliverables.

Always be looking for what that person knows and brings to the table already. Leveraging that strength, giving them the next thing that’s going to help them expand their skills and experience.

Another thing to be looking for beyond that, in terms of building a career path, is once I’ve done all that with a set of stakeholders or a specific system, or a specific area of the business, how can I tackle a new challenge? A new set of stakeholders, a new area of the business, an unfamiliar domain. That’s when your business analysis skills start to get put to the test, and that’s where you start to see how generalized these core skills that we have are, and how applicable they are in different environments.

It can get tunnel vision when you’re first getting started in a specific environment. It’s when you start to apply that across multiple environments that you take your skills to the next level. Be looking for those opportunities for people on your team as well as they get comfortable in their business analyst roles.

2024 March Madness TV schedule: How to watch the NCAA Tournament, announcers, Sweet 16 tipoff times

The complete television and streaming schedule for how to watch march madness 2024.

The 2024 NCAA Tournament is down to the Sweet 16. Six incredible days of college basketball -- filled with a variety of dominant victories, shocking upsets and shining moments -- are in the books with the first 36 games of March Madness leaving us only wanting more. Don't worry ... that will come soon enough.

Thursday kicks off four straight nights of the best college basketball you will see this season with the Sweet 16 covering the end of the week and the Elite Eight dominating the weekend. All games will be played across CBS and TBS, with the best in the business bringing you the action from Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas and Detroit.

All four No. 1 seeds are still alive with UConn, Purdue and North Carolina cruising through the first two rounds. Houston was dealt a much tougher go of it by Texas A&M on Sunday night but nevertheless survived and advanced to the second week of the tournament. The four No. 2 seeds are also still in the field, though Iowa State, Marquette, Tennessee and Arizona all had moments of concern in the second round.

Nevertheless, the top eight teams in the nation -- entering March Madness -- are all in the thick of it entering the second week for just the fifth time since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985.

Once we get to the Final Four, you will notice veteran Ian Eagle stepping in as the lead play-by-play announcer, replacing the legendary Jim Nantz, who stepped away in 2023. Eagle will be alongside mainstays Bill Raftery, Grant Hill and reporter Tracy Wolfson on the top announcing team. A longtime staple of NCAA Tournament coverage, Eagle was not alone as someone stepping into a new role on the team. Former Purdue star Robbie Hummel called his first NCAA Tournament broadcast during the first week.

CBS and TBS are leading the way televising 21 games apiece during the NCAA Tournament, while truTV and TNT carried 13 and 12, respectively. The Final Four will simulcast across TBS and TNT. In addition to the March Madness Live app , where you can watch every game, Paramount+ subscribers will be able to watch all the games televised by CBS, while subscribers to Max's B/R Sports Add-On can catch the remainder of the games.

From the Selection Show all the way until the playing of "One Shining Moment" after a champion is crowned, CBS Sports and TNT Sports will be bringing you the magic.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said officials are still working to come up with a cost estimate for damages due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday. President Joe Biden vowed the federal government would foot the bill in the hours after the bridge's collapse.

Buttigieg said at the White House on Wednesday it is "likely" that the administration would turn to Congress to seek funding, "but that shouldn't be a barrier" for immediate funding relief.

It's also too soon to say how long it will take to rebuild the bridge, Buttigieg said, also noting that it took 5 years to build. "It is going to be some time," he said.

Dozens of containers with hazardous material remain on ship but do not pose threat to public, Coast Guard says

Dozens of containers with hazardous materials are among the more than 4,700 cargo containers that remain on the ship that struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Coast Guard Vice Admiral Peter Gautier said at the White House on Wednesday.

Of the 4,700 containers on the ship, 56 contained hazardous materials, he said. But Gautier said the containers pose no threat to the public. They were in an area of the ship largely unaffected by damage, he said.

Two containers are missing overboard. Those containers do not contain hazardous material, he said.

"The Office of Foreign Missions is generally continuing to monitor the situation, and will reach out directly to any foreign missions should we receive information about their citizens being affected, but with respect to any one country, I don't have an update,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said at a briefing on Wednesday.

Miller also offered condolences for the families of those affected by the tragedy. The official said he was aware of reports that some of the victims were from Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. Six construction workers who were on the bridge when it was struck remain unaccounted for. The crew of the ship that crashed into the bridge was from India.

Drinking water quality not impacted near bridge collision, EPA says

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials have determined there are no drinking water intakes near the site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collision that could compromise drinking water quality, according to a statement from EPA spokesperson Shaun Eagan.

At least two regional EPA officials are in the field with the US Coast Guard (USCG), offering support to USCG by “identifying possible discharges of oil” and helping to “determine the contents of the shipping containers,” according to Eagan.

More context: The USCG is currently the lead for any discharge cleanup efforts, but EPA staff are on-site to provide more personnel and equipment if USCG or the state of Maryland requests it to help address any sources of potential discharges of oil or hazardous material from the containers.

Bridge was "not made to withstand" ship's impact, Buttigieg says

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was not designed to withstand the massive impact from a container ship that caused it to collapse early Tuesday morning, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttgieg said Wednesday.

"A bridge like this one, completed in the 1970s, was simply not made to withstand a direct impact on a critical support pier from a vessel that weighs about 200 million pounds —orders of magnitude bigger than cargo ships that were in service in that region at the time that the bridge was first built," Buttigieg said at a White House briefing on Wednesday.

Buttigieg added the federal government is "committed to delivering every federal resource needed to help Maryland get back to normal" following the bridge's collapse early Tuesday.

Buttigieg says loss of life could have been "in the dozens" if not for several factors

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the loss of life from the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday could have been "in the dozens" if not for several factors, including the time of day and the mayday call that happened just before a massive cargo ship struck the bridge.

Buttigieg credited the quick response from emergency personnel for mitigating loss of life during a press briefing at the White House on Wednesday.

"If not for several factors, including those responders' efforts, the mayday call, the maintenance closure that was already underway, and the time of day of this impact, the loss of life might have been in the dozens," Buttigieg said.

Six construction workers who were on the bridge when it was struck remain unaccounted for.

Family members of one of the workers missing since the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge still holds on to hope that their loved one will be found alive.

“We still have faith until this moment, God grant the miracle, it would be beautiful,” Carlos Suazo Sandoval, brother of Maynor Suazo Sandoval, told CNN en Español on Wednesday.

Maynor Suazo Sandoval, 38, a Honduran national, was working on asphalt on the bridge when it collapsed, his brother said.

Carlos, who spoke to CNN outside a family staging area set up by state and federal authorities in Baltimore, said his family is still processing the incident and has yet to tell Maynor’s 72-year-old mother, who lives in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Maynor, who is one of eight siblings, is described as a kind and joyful person who had “vision,” his brother said.

“He always wanted to have his own businesses. He always said his elderly years would be in Honduras,” he said about his missing sibling.

Another brother told CNN earlier Wednesday that Maynor Suazo Sandoval has lived in the United States for 18 years and is a married father of an 18-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.

3 Mexican nationals were on the bridge when it collapsed, one survived with injuries, Mexico's president says

Three Mexican nationals were among those on the Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed Tuesday, Mexico’s president said Wednesday morning.

One of those individuals was rescued and is alive, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said, describing him as “injured” but “safe."

Two are still missing, he added, saying that his administration is in touch with those families, who are being assisted by diplomatic officials.

López Obrador stressed that migrants often work jobs at midnight and do “risky work,” adding “they do not deserve to be treated, as they often are, by some irresponsible politicians and with little sensibility in the United States.”

López Obrador's administration is aware of other missing people, including those he believed to be brothers from Central America, he said.

Acknowledging the difficulty of the situation, López Obrador said his office would remain in contact with family members.

More than a day after the Dali cargo ship crashed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge, authorities are still searching for the six people missing in the crash. Cold water temperatures and choppy waters are affecting divers' attempts to find the bodies of those missing, who are presumed dead.

The investigation: A team from with the National Transportation Safety Board went aboard the ship late Tuesday night to gather evidence for their investigation, agency Chair Jennifer Homendy told CNN on Wednesday. There, they obtained the ship's data recorder, or black box.
No timeline for channel reopening: There is no specific timeline for when ships may be able to move in and out of the channel into the Port of Baltimore, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore says, but he reiterated that it is a priority to get it reopened.
"Long road to recovery": US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg predicted the restoration effort for the city and port won't be quick . He also warned of supply chain disruptions, saying, "The impact of this incident is going to be felt throughout the region and really throughout our supply chains."
Coast Guard assessing hazmat threat: The US Coast Guard is examining damaged shipping containers, some containing potentially hazardous materials , from the crashed vessel, according to a US government document obtained by CNN and a US official familiar with the matter.
Overnight search deemed unsafe: Search and recovery operations were halted overnight due to dangerous conditions, including “very unstable” sections of the steel bridge and shipping containers hanging from the cargo ship, Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace told CNN.

सत्रीय कार्य जुलाई - 2020

स्‍नातक, परास्‍नातक डिप्‍लोमा एवं परास्‍नातक पाठ्यक्रमों के विद्यार्थी सत्रीय कार्य पूर्व की भांति लिखित न होकर ऑनलाइन परीक्षा के रूप में होगा। इस सन्दर्भ में निम्‍नलिखित पर विशेष रूप से ध्‍यान दें –

सत्रीय कार्य मे 20 तथ्‍यनिष्ठ प्रश्‍न होंगे।
प्रत्येक प्रश्‍न एक नम्बर ( One marks) का होगा . जहाँ पर सत्रीय कार्य 10 नम्बर का है वहाँ पर प्रत्येक प्रश्‍न आधे नम्बर (half marks) का होगा।
सत्रीय कार्य में चार विकल्पों के साथ केवल तथ्‍यनिष्‍ठ प्रश्‍न ही होंगे।
प्रश्‍नों का स्‍तर निम्न होगा - Simple questions - 6, Moderate questions - 7, Difficult questions - 7
प्रश्‍न पत्र की अवधि 60 मिनट होगी ।
परीक्षार्थी को अधिकतम दो मौके (chance) दिए जायेंगे, दूसरे मौके का उपयोग करने पर प्राप्‍त अंकों के 90 प्रतिशत का ही लाभ दिया जायेगा। जो परीक्षार्थी उपयुक्‍त दो मौकों (chance) पर पास नहीं हो पायेगा उसे बैक परीक्षा (back paper) का विकल्प दिया जायेगा .

Trump urges Israel to ‘finish up’ its Gaza offensive and warns about global support fading

Former President Donald Trump said he would have responded the same way as Israel did after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas but urged the country to “finish up” its offensive in Gaza and “get this over with,” warning about international support fading.

“You have to finish up your war. You have to finish it up. You’ve got to get it done,” he said in an interview with Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “We’ve got to get to peace. You can’t have this going on, and I will say Israel has to be very careful because you are losing a lot of the world. You are losing a lot of support.”

Trump, who earlier this month became the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee , brought up global criticism of Israel’s offensive even as he has repeatedly attacked President Joe Biden’s handling of the conflict.

According to the newspaper’s transcript of the interview, Trump said “Israel made a very big mistake” in releasing photos and videos of its offensive in Gaza, commenting the country’s public image is “in ruin.” A video shared of the interview does not show those comments.

“That’s a terrible portrait. It’s a very bad picture for the world,” Trump said. “I think Israel wanted to show that it’s tough, but sometimes you shouldn’t be doing that.”

The Israel Hayom is widely seen as a mouthpiece for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Soon after the attack in which Hamas militants killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostages, Trump denounced Netanyahu for allegedly letting him down while he was in the White House. He also said Netanyahu “was not prepared” for the deadly incursion from Gaza.

More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s offensive, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-ruled territory.

Trump also again suggested that American Jews were wrong to support Democrats, days after being criticized by some Jewish advocates for saying Jewish Democrats were being disloyal to their religion. He alleged that Biden “supports the enemy.”
