Improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. However, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer 1: [Agreement]

Health, education and trade are the keys to the sustainable development of the developing countries. However, there has been heated debate about whether the governments of developed nations ought to place responsibility for aiding the poorer countries in these sectors. I firmly believe rich nations should step forward to help underdeveloped nations to be lifted out of the poverty trap.

To commence with, healthcare is without a doubt something we are entitled to; it is our basic right to have access to healthcare. For hundreds of thousands of people, however, it is simply not a right, but a luxury. Societies devastated by civil wars and grinding poverty do not have access to healthcare; even the most primary medical supplies are out of reach for those vulnerable people. In countries like Yemen, health aid can go a long way towards ameliorating poverty and helping underprivileged people in their time of need.

Similarly, education is an essential right that we all believe we are also entitled to. Education can play a paramount role in an individual’s personal development and society as a whole. It paves the way for job prospects and can help those disadvantaged people in severe poverty. Not only does education alleviate an individual’s condition, but also improve their community. Therefore, rich nations should launch programmes that teach specific skills set that poor people can use to find work. Likewise, aid for trade creates a window of opportunity for developing countries, particularly for the least developed countries. Many poorer nations encounter trade-related infrastructural obstacles which constrain their potentiality to engage in global trade. However, trade and commerce is likely to stimulate economic growth and can eradicate poverty eventually.

In fine, the best way to help poorer countries is to improve the holy trinity of health, education and trade. Therefore, richer countries should embark on aid projects in these areas so as to ward off poverty.

Model Answer 2: [Disagreement]

It goes without saying that health, education and commerce take the centre stage in the sustainable development of the third world countries. People, however, are deeply divided on the issue of whether developed countries ought to shoulder more responsibility for aiding the developing countries in those sectors. In the case, I firmly disagree with the opinion expressed, and I will explain why.

First and foremost, recipient countries do not have the primary institutional capacity to carry out aid projects supported by rich nations. Therefore, they cannot manage the development programmes by reason of the lack of robust institutions and for corruptions. A case in point is Nigeria. The country still cannot ward poverty off despite receiving a substantial amount of foreign aid for the last three decades. So offering aids is not a viable solution.

Secondly, overseas assistance, in most cases, fuels corruption and entrenches authoritarian regimes consequently. The development aids are channelled into politicizing economies rather than aid projects, like a hospital, school and economic zone for example. Ultimately, the money spent to suppress political opponents, like sub-Saharan Africa for instance. In addition to this, trade proposals face vehement opposition from the powerful vested interests.

Last but not least, foreign aid promotes a culture of dependency. Donor countries try to play an unwanted role in shaping the politics and economy of the host country. Consequently, it reduces the quality of governance. A good example here is ‘Zimbabwe’. The country has a long history of aid dependency. The major risk here is that the rich country has the political leverage, which in turn shapes the policy of the recipient country that serves the donor country ultimately.

To draw the conclusion, foreign assistance often puts a curse on the recipient countries. Therefore, aids in selective sectors by the rich countries is not going to change the future of poorer nations unless those poor nations themselves try to improve their fate.

One Comment to “Essay 71 – Improvements in health, education and trade are essential”

Education, health and trade are considered as a mainstay for any nation’s economic development. It’s a matter of debate, where some people advocate that the development of poorer nations is being stifled and developed nations ought to shoulder more responsibility for aiding in respective sectors. I strongly agree with the perception expressed and my inclination is justified in the below paragraphs.

First, it is perceived that most obstacles to development are created because of mismanagement of funds and corruptions. Higher authorities and politicians often fuel corruption and manipulate the system for their own benefits. The recent data published by “The Time Now” shows that misusage and corruption in the government sector in many countries have increased by 20% compared to the past decades. Moreover, certain sectors like education, health and trade are being managed by incompetent candidates causing the economy to get more impacted. So rich nations should come forward and strictly monitor how their funds are being utilised by the authority in poor nations.

Secondly, many recipient countries do not have the necessary infrastructure to undertake any aid projects successfully. Therefore, they cannot manage the development programs pertaining to education, health and trade. One example can be Nigeria, that still cannot control poverty despite the aid it receives from multiple countries for many years. So, offering aid is not a viable solution and stringent policy and stern monitoring are required by donating countries.

To conclude, only monetary aid from the rich nations will not ameliorate recipient nations future. They should also ensure system and monitoring to ensure that sustainable development is achieved.

Model essay #1:, improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. however, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas. to what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.

In today's interconnected world, the development of poorer nations is crucial for global prosperity. While improvements in health, education, and trade are essential for their progress, the responsibility of richer nations in aiding the development of poorer nations cannot be overlooked. In my opinion, I strongly agree with the notion that wealthier governments should take more responsibility in assisting poorer nations in these areas.

Firstly, when it comes to health, poorer nations often struggle to provide adequate healthcare services to their citizens due to limited resources. Richer nations, with their advanced medical technologies and resources, can play a significant role in supporting healthcare infrastructure, providing medical aid during crises, and offering training and expertise to local healthcare professionals. For instance, countries like the United States and the United Kingdom have been actively involved in providing medical assistance and support during global health crises such as the Ebola outbreak in Africa.

Similarly, in the realm of education, richer nations can contribute by sharing their expertise in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational infrastructure. This can help in improving the quality of education in poorer nations, leading to a more skilled and knowledgeable workforce that can contribute to the economic development of their respective countries.

Moreover, trade plays a vital role in the economic growth of poorer nations. Richer nations can support the development of industries in poorer countries by providing access to their markets, facilitating technology transfer, and offering financial assistance for infrastructure development. This can lead to increased employment opportunities and economic growth in the poorer nations.

In conclusion, the assistance of richer nations in health, education, and trade is indispensable for the development of poorer nations. By taking more responsibility in these areas, wealthier governments can contribute to creating a more equitable and prosperous global community.

Model Essay #2:

While it is undeniable that improvements in health, education, and trade are crucial for the development of poorer nations, I hold the view that the primary responsibility for the progress of these nations lies within their own governments. I believe that while richer nations can offer support and assistance, it is ultimately the duty of the governments of poorer nations to prioritize and drive their own development.

First and foremost, the governments of poorer nations are in the best position to understand the specific needs and challenges faced by their societies. They have the local knowledge and understanding required to implement effective policies and strategies tailored to their country's unique circumstances. For example, the government of Rwanda has successfully implemented healthcare initiatives that have significantly improved the country's health outcomes, showcasing the potential for local governance to drive positive change.

Furthermore, placing the primary responsibility on the governments of poorer nations encourages accountability and self-reliance. When governments are expected to take the lead in their nation's development, it fosters a sense of ownership and commitment to implementing sustainable solutions. This can lead to more effective and enduring improvements in areas such as education, healthcare, and trade.

Moreover, history has shown that reliance on external assistance alone may not always lead to long-term development. Empowering the governments of poorer nations to take the lead in their own development can lead to more sustainable progress in the long run, as it builds local capacity and resilience.

In conclusion, while it is beneficial for richer nations to offer support and assistance to poorer nations in crucial areas such as health, education, and trade, I firmly believe that the primary responsibility for the development of poorer nations lies within their own governments. By prioritizing local governance and empowering these governments to drive their own development, we can foster sustainable progress and self-reliance within these nations.

To conclude,if we want to live in a beter world with peace and harmony,we should always help each other. Therefore,I believe that richer nations should help the poor countries in all the fields. ====================== IELTS Buddy Feedback Here is the corrected version: In today's sophisticated society, people of the developing countries are still fighting for their basic rig h ts such a s better healthcare, proper education and a sound source of income. While Because the governments of the underdeveloped countries are struggling to improve the living standards of their people, I believe that contribution s by richer nations should be more in this regard. To begin, all human beings should help each other. Gove r nments of richer nations can take many steps to improve the living standard s of the poorer na t ions. (it is not really clear why this short paragraph is here – paragraphs should really be at least three sentences. I would delete this as you seem to be just repeating your thesis) Firstly, in the field of healthcare, developed countries can support he underdeveloped in many ways. They can send their expert doctors to train the medical staff in the developing countries. Also, they can open free medical camps in the selected areas of poor countries. In this way free medical advice could be given. Such camps can also start health awarness c a mpaigns to make people aware of unhealthy lifestyle s . To conclude, if we want to live in a bet t er world with peace and harmony, we should always help each other. Therefore, I believe that richer nations should help the poor countries in all the fields. ===================== Further comments: Grammar and vocabulary: Overall, your grammar control and range of structures are very good, as is your vocabulary and collocations. You had a lot of spelling mistakes, though, so be careful with this. You miss your ‘s’ in quite a few places as well. Organization: Your organization is again good. Clear paragraphs with each discussing a central idea, and transitions used to help the reader follow the ideas. Only problem is with that ‘dangling’ paragraph at the beginning. It is like you have just repeated your thesis again. Content There is small issue with your content. You need to make it clearer WHY developing nations should help developing nations. You have instead focused most of your ideas on HOW. You do mention this in your thesis, but your essay would benefit from a bit more information about this in respect of each factor within each paragraph. The question insinuates that developed countries are not doing enough, because it says they ‘should do more’. So for each of your ideas / paragraphs, it would be better to first spend a couple of sentences stating the problems developing countries have with each issue, and then going on to say why developed countries are in a good position to help. Here is a possible example to show you what I mean for your paragraph on health (I took your last idea out because it may be getting too long): Firstly, in the field of healthcare, developing countries face dire problems. Taking the African continent as an example, diseases such a malaria and AIDS are prevalent, resulting in thousands of deaths every year, and malnutrition is also a major problem due to drought. Developed countries have to send more doctors to train the medical staff in the developing countries. Also, they can open free medical camps in the selected areas of poor countries. In this way free medical advice could be given. Such camps can also start health awarness campaigns to make people aware of unhealthy lifestyles. You don’t have to organize it this way, but you do at some point in your essay need to make some reference to the problems developing countries face and why developed countries are in a good position to help. That said, it’s still a good answer and you still make reference to why developing countries need help so I’d expect it to get a good band score, particularly because as I said you have very good organization and grammar.

Improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. however, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas. to what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion, sample answer:.

It is widely acknowledged that improvements in health, education, and trade are vital for the development of poorer nations. However, the extent to which the governments of richer nations should take responsibility for helping the poorer nations in these areas is a topic of much debate.

I strongly believe that the governments of richer nations have a moral obligation to assist the poorer nations in improving their health, education, and trade. This is not only a matter of humanitarian aid, but also a matter of global stability and prosperity. By investing in the development of poorer nations, richer nations can help create a more equitable and sustainable world for all.

In terms of health, the governments of richer nations can provide financial aid, medical supplies, and expertise to help improve healthcare systems in poorer nations. This can help reduce the spread of diseases, improve maternal and child health, and ultimately save lives. In the realm of education, richer nations can provide support in the form of teacher training, educational resources, and infrastructure development to ensure that children in poorer nations have access to quality education. This can help break the cycle of poverty and empower future generations to contribute to their nation’s development. When it comes to trade, richer nations can provide technical assistance, market access, and investment to help poorer nations develop their economies and participate more fully in the global economy.

While it is important for the governments of poorer nations to take responsibility for their own development, the support of richer nations can significantly accelerate progress and help overcome the many challenges that poorer nations face. By working together, we can create a more prosperous and equitable world for all.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in improving their health, education, and trade. This is not only a matter of moral obligation, but also a matter of global stability and prosperity. By working together, we can create a more equitable and sustainable world for all.

Improvement in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. However the government of richer nation should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nation in such areas. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Sample answer:.

Humans are social animals people receive help from other people as well as give help to other people in their life. For the development of poor countries, to improve basic things are essential such as health and education. I strongly agree that government of rich countries should help developing nations in such areas.

Firstly, if rich countries take responsibility for improving basic things of poor countries such as health and education, then they will become helper for development of poor nations directly as well as indirectly. For instance, if rich authority provides advance technical instruments to poor nations for improve health. Then health of poor countries people will improve So that they can give their best in work. This indirectly will help to own countries economic system.

In addition, if authorities of rich countries give more opportunity for study, then students of poor countries can gain more knowledge as well as can expose in foreign countries Which will help for improving technology and system of own country. Moreover, foreign countries can establish more industries in poor countries which will encourage more employment in poor countries. So that it will become financial help for poor countries.

Overall, nowadays world totally transfer in the globalization. So that authorities of rich nations can help to other nations through different ways. So that rich nations should take responsibility for improvement of poor nations.

On the other hand, it rich countries help to poor countries then people of poor countries may become total dependent and presentation of hard working will be reduced dramatically so that, help of rich nation may give negative effect to poor nation in future.

Improvement in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. However, the government of richer nation should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such area.

You should write at least 250 words.

Model Answer:

No doubt that richer nations have better facilities and they have improved fields like health, education and trade. However, poorer nations are less developed in such fields. I agree with the claim that richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in this matter.

Richer countries are developed in major fields which helps in overall improvement of country. In the matter of education, they have better and fast means of education and also they have updated education. To illustrate, they use computers which makes education easy and faster. Health facilities are also improved like they have better technical machines for body checkup and for operations also big hospitals with quality of medicines. Moreover, improved business helps to make better economical strength. So such fields make a county rich and updated.

On the other hand, the story is totally opposite in poorer countries. They are on the way of development., so they are at the back in every field as compare to developed countries. For example, they use traditional means of education and have not updated education. Similarly, small hospitals with simple treatment can not face the serious health problems. Every country’s business is depend on education. So it is obvious that poorer nations with low education can not make a good standard of trade.

To put the matter into proper light, developed or richer nations should help more the poorer by giving their resources and better means. But there is also a need that poorer countries should follow the richer and should do self improvement.

In conclusion, it is clear that to walk with modern world poorer nations should have to improved, otherwise they fall down from present. Help of richer countries will not only goes to poorer but will help world to improve.

Improvement in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer countries. However, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Improvements in Health, Education and Trade Are Essential for The

Improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. However, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas.

Today?s world has been divided into developing and industrialised countrieswhich the main difference between them is the amount of money that governments apply in important sectors such as education, health and commerce. Most of the poorer nations are buried in debts as a result of their unbalanced finances which are reflect in a failed health care, an unstructured education system and a weak international trade. This vicious cycle will continue indefinitely unless wealthier nations show interest in minimizing the worldwide economic differences, as well as taking more responsibility for assisting unfortunate countries.

Most of the African countries live in sub-human conditions because of the extreme poverty , upheaval, hunger, disease, unemployment, lack of education and both inexperienced and corrupt administrations. The devastating consequences of the AIDS epidemic in those countries could improve if the infected populations receive free drugs to control the disease, have access to health professionals and get information on how to prevent its spread. But this can only be achieved through international help programs in which leaders of the world?s richest countries donate medicine and also send doctors and nurses to treat and educate those in need.

Moreover, most of the poor countries rely on selling agricultural products and raw material to rich nations and buying industrialized products from them resulting in a huge financial deficit. Consequently, they borrow a significant amount of money from the World Bank to try to improve their broken economies, but sometimes the money disappears with no significant changes and they cannot even pay the interest to the bank. Regarding this issue, last year the G8, which is comprised of leaders of the eight richest nations, decided to forgive billions of dollars worth of debt owed by the world?s poorest nations. In addition, they developed adequate loan programs to financially assist those countries.
