The Indian education system has changed a lot over time. The earlier education was provided in Gurukuls, students used to go to Gurukuls, serve the Gurus, obey their orders and got educated over time. That is, everything was orderly at that time. There was no greed for anything.

But, today it’s not the same as before.

Today’s education system is getting worse day by day. People have started considering educational institutions as a good means of earning money. They focus more on profit than on providing good education.

Instead of improving education, they focus on how to earn more money.

If it continues, education won’t have any importance in the upcoming times and the purposes for which people are educated will have no meaning. That’s why we need to think a little about our education system so that we can make our country’s education system better than others.

First of all, I want to thank my class teacher who gave me this opportunity to speak on the education system in India. I’m very nervous today because it’s my first chance to speak on any topic. So, if I make any mistake, please give me pardon.

You all are well aware of the education system of India. I think, there is no need to explain much about it.

Our education system has many policies, but most of them are useless. It has been molded in such a way that anyone can buy his desired degree with money, just he should be aware of such people who are experts in these kinds of work.

We are going backward day by day from other countries in terms of education. When our education system is not good, how will we compete with them?

There has always been a demand for good education and also questions have been raised on the issue related to it but the government doesn’t pay attention to them. So, our future looks in danger. When we don’t get a good education, how will we get good employment?

From now, it’s very important to pay a little attention to our education system so that we can develop ourselves and lead a prosperous and dignified life.

My greetings to all of you, my name is Aaradhya Soni and I study in class 12th. Today, I’m going to give a speech on the education system in India. By mistake, if make any error, please forgive me.

There is no doubt that our education system is better than before but still, there are many defects that we all have to address together so that we can make our education system better than other countries and see its impact widely on the national and international level.

The biggest drawback in the Indian education system is that the education which is given to the students is less practical. As a result of which, they are unable to learn things properly.

For the past few years, the Indian education system has been so shaken that it’s as if there has been a flood of chaos. Many times neither the exams are conducted on time and even if they are conducted there is a huge delay in the results, due to which the students are falling prey to depression.

The great writers and litterateurs of our country have made many efforts to improve the education system, but the changes in the system have been negligible.

आईटी’ students with 90% marks are not able to get admission to those institutes. This is only because of the disorganized education system.

If it continues, no one will wish to be educated.

That’s why it’s our duty to fix the education system of our country and at the same time try to strengthen it in every possible way.

But during the preparation, I was being graduated from CSJMU Kanpur. I completed my graduation in 2016 and now I’m pursuing an educational degree ( B.Ed. ). 2. Profession – Although I love teaching, but I also do blogging. Both are my favorite jobs.

Education is defined as the process of receiving or giving primary knowledge, especially at the school or university level. Education is a significant factor that helps in improving the literacy rate of the country. After Independence, the Indian government has mainly focused on providing education to everyone and for years the government has introduced new plans to improve Indian education.

The Indian education system is mainly divided into four stages namely lower primary for the children between the age of six to ten years, upper primary with children from the age of eleven years to twelve years. High school, in which the children start their school at the age of 13 and end it at 16 and at the age of 17 to 18 they finish their higher secondary school.

The Indian education system is considered to be the oldest among the education systems around the world. In spite of being the oldest, it is not the best. Lack of reforms and improvements makes the Indian education system ineffective and annoying.

From the beginning, the Indian education system is designed for a child to learn from the book and write exams just to get good grades. While it helps in improving the children's reading and writing ability, it does not help in learning the skills required to survive in the world.

We often hear on the news that unemployment in India is increasing day by day and in spite of many graduates having fancy degrees, many of them fail to land a job. So what is the reason for that? The answer is our Education system. The Indian education system is designed for students to score marks and get good grades and repeat the process but it was never designed to teach the students the skills required to survive in this world.

The education and the knowledge we receive from reading various books is unmatchable and I totally agree with that. But while the Indian education system provides theoretical knowledge for the students it is very important to also teach the students how to apply that knowledge practically which many students fail and that is the reason why there is an exponential increase in the unemployment rate in India.

It is the responsibility of the teachers to allow the students to think differently. The teachers should also make the student understand that classroom learning is important and should teach them how to practically apply it. In addition to this the teachers should be open to the idea of learning new things from the students.

Our education system could be improved if important steps are taken. Instead of encouraging students to study for the exam, where they only muggup the textbooks just for the sake of scoring well, more practical knowledge should be given to the students. The education authorities should give the students opportunities to apply the knowledge they have learned in the textbooks practically.

Our educational system should also allow the students to learn about the financial knowledge that would help them in surviving in this world. The education authorities should teach students about budgeting money, saving money, and the ways through which the money could be invested in different assets like stocks, gold, silver, etc. This will help the students to prepare for the future.

According to the United Nations Organization(UNO), India ranks 145 out of 191 in the world for providing education. We are not even in the top 50 in the world. This shows the level of improvement we need to do to update ourselves. If we want our country to grow and move forward we have to start by improving the education we provide for the children. As the saying goes “The children of today are the future of tomorrow”, we should start by updating the Indian education system from the primary level. Instead of only allowing the students to learn theoretical knowledge, the educational authorities should introduce practical methods through which children can apply the knowledge they learned through the books.

If by moderating our education system, we can bring a wave of revolution then we have to do it for the sake of a brighter future. Thank you.

To conclude this speech I want to say that the entire education system teaches the students about “what to know” through textbooks for scoring in exams but it does not allow the students to learn about “what and all they should know”. It is very important that the students should be taught about financial education and this can only be done by only modernizing the entire education system.

The Indian education system is quite an old system which is reforming slowly. It produces many brilliant minds every year. This is unfair as a single examination determines the whole career of the student. Mugging up subjects without understanding the concept is one of the outcomes of this type of education system. Examinations appear to be a burden on the students. Education must be like exploring things instead of focusing on getting marks.

The Indian education system focuses more on theory instead of giving practical experiences. Classroom teaching also follows the older method of teaching, which includes only books instead of any exciting tools available. It is getting boring day by day for the younger generation. There is very restricted use of Computer Assisted techniques. Online mode of education in India is underdeveloped. Other social issues which Indian education system is facing are corruption, lack of awareness, poverty which is leading to withdrawal from education at a very early age from the countryside.

Now the question arises how the system can be improved? Unnecessary burdens must not be given to students. They must be involved in intensive learning programs instead of boring lectures. They must be judged based on their overall development instead of marks in the examination. Improvement in classroom teaching with proper training to the teachers is a must which must be included in the system as soon as possible. Computer Assisted education must be imparted in all the schools all over India.

Physical activities, yoga, art, singing, dancing, drama & many more must be given importance as any other subject as people are also adopting these as their professional career in future. More practical experiences with skill development must be incorporated into the education system. Many policies have been already reformed by our government to overcome the drawbacks on the current system. So the beginning is already here, but we have a long way to go.

In a developing country like India, Education is one of the fundamental right of all the citizens with superior quality of education. It will drive us in the path of success & economic growth. The Indian education system must be reformed to so that students get better opportunities to learn & shine in future. If we can provide a better education, we will gift ourselves a better future too. Reputable Principal, respected teachers and my dear friends! First of all, I would like to welcome all of you and also thank you all for having me a chance to deliver a speech on the education system in India.

India’s education system is considered one of the oldest in the world. Even, the oldest university was founded in India. But why do many talented students move abroad to get a better education?

Education has some basic functions such as:

• A person’s holistic development,
• Make them open-minded,
• Make them problem-solving,
• Help students make good decisions,
• Help students figure out their hidden talents etc.

But the Indian Education System does not promise to provide these functions. The Indian education system is purely based on rote learning in which students are asked to write answers based on what is written in textbooks.

Education is all about learning but the Indian education system is all about the rat race . Students are not concerned about learning but they are more stressed about leaving others behind by scoring better.

This is the need of the hour to bring some changes in this education system to make it more interesting and interactive. To do this, it is needed to eradicate the competitive environment . Apart from this, eliminate rote learning so that teachers can scale the level of knowledge of the students.

Most importantly, there is a need to adopt a teaching method which enhances the analytical skills of the brain. Activity-based teaching is a great way for this and it will also make the learning process interactive.

Currently, the Indian education system functions based upon “ more theory, less practicals “. If we reverse this, it will help the students to understand the concepts more easily.

To sum it up, there are lots of ways that can make the Indian education system the best version of it. This is all I wanted to say. I hope you liked my speech. Thank you!

5-Minute Speech On The Problems Of The Indian Education System

First of all, good morning to the honourable principal, respected teachers and loving friends and all of you gathered here. In your special presence, I would like to say a few words about the education system in India.

According to  Wikipedia  “ Education  is the process of the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, and habits”. Education is an integral part of overall development and progress for any country.

The primary function of education is to promote a person’s holistic development to prepare students for the real world. Each country possesses its education system. India’s education system is considered one of the oldest in the world.

Most noteworthy, the oldest university was founded in India. But why do many talented students move abroad to get a better education? The reason behind this is; the Indian education system has some flaws that prevent it to be the best education system.

Let’s discuss the problems that prevent the Indian education system to become the best version of it.

1. Rat race

A rat race is a race where the winner gets nothing but the satisfaction that he is ahead of the losers. Students are not concerned about learning but they are more stressed about leaving others behind by scoring better.

We need to stop spreading this mindset to students. We can do that by eliminating the competitive environment among the students. Every student is unique. Just like, different types of trees require different types of environments.

In the same way, each student requires a different environment and needs. Teachers should act like a gardener who understands the needs of each type of plant.

2. Rote Learning

In the Indian education system, It is more important that you can rote learn and repeat like a parrot than having a good understanding of the concept.

Students are asked to write answers the way it is written in the syllabus book. In this process, they forget to understand the concept. They just learn it as-it-is to write a perfect answer to get the maximum marks.

The results of this are visible to us. According to a study, 80 per cent of engineers in India are unemployable. It means after spending 4 years, they are not able to meet the requirements of employers.

This method is not suitable to scale one’s knowledge and skills. A better approach needs to be adopted.

3. Respect For Teachers

Global Teacher Status Index Says that India’s teachers are amongst the least-paid teachers in the world. This is the reason behind the shortage of good teachers.

Today, 50% of the Indian population is under the age of 25 years and deserves to get a decent education but more than 8000 government schools in India have no teachers at all.

Ideally, In a class, student to teacher ratio must be 28:1, but it sometimes reaches 100:1. So there is a need to hire quality teachers and pay them decent salaries.

4. Necessary Knowledge

It is believed that education prepares us for facing the real world. But I don’t think that the Indian education system prepares students for facing the real world. What do you think?

Well, I have a list of items. Do students learn any of these in schools?

• How to make the right decisions
• How to communicate well
• How to write a good email
• How to present your views
• The list goes on.

One of the functions of education is to help students figure out their hidden talents. But the Indian education system is not very promising to meet this criterion. After leaving school, most of the students are confused about what to do in life.

If we want to utilize the full potential of the talent and skill of our youth. We must fill the gap.

Today, India’s education system is one of the largest in the world, with over 250 million students enrolled. It’s a system diverse in its reach, from the remote village schools to the prestigious IITs and IIMs. However, this vast system faces its unique set of challenges.

Accessibility and quality :.

While access to education has improved, the disparity in quality remains a significant concern. Many students, especially in rural areas, lack access to quality resources and teaching.

Rote Learning

The emphasis on rote memorization stifles creativity and critical thinking, skills essential in today’s dynamic world.

Infrastructure and Resources

Many educational institutions, especially government schools, grapple with inadequate infrastructure and lack essential learning tools.

Teacher Training and Evaluation

The need for well-trained, motivated teachers cannot be overstated. Yet, teacher training and evaluation mechanisms often fall short of addressing this need effectively.

Steps Towards Improvement

• Emphasizing Holistic Education : Beyond academics, education must foster innovation, critical thinking, and ethical grounding. Programs like NEP 2020 aim to revamp the educational framework, focusing on holistic, flexible, and student-centric approaches.
• Technology Integration : Leveraging technology for education can bridge the quality gap. Initiatives like e-Pathshala, Swayam, and the National Digital Library are steps in the right direction.
• Teacher Empowerment : Investing in teacher training, providing continuous professional development opportunities, and incentivizing excellence can significantly enhance educational quality.
• Public-Private Partnerships : Collaboration between the government and private sector can bring in resources, expertise, and innovation, essential for educational reform.

The task of uplifting India’s education system is not just the government’s responsibility but a collective one. It involves educators, policymakers, parents, and students. Once a student reaches the senior secondary level that is 11th and 12th, the student has the option of choosing between different streams like science, arts and commerce. Senior secondary classes thoroughly prepare students for higher education.  There are some major drawbacks when it comes to the education system in India. The system focuses on rote learning rather than encouraging free thinking, flexibility and interaction, many schools lack basic facilities like computer labs or even proper furniture and the teachers are either underqualified or underpaid which is a huge impediment to growth and learning. The education system in India has evolved in the past few years to accommodate a more logical and practical approach towards education. The Indian education system can be roughly divided into the pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher secondary, graduate and the postgraduate levels.

The education system in India has evolved over the years and plays an important role in shaping not just the careers of the students but their lives as well. The education system in India is divided into several levels. They are the pre-primary level, the primary level, the secondary level, the higher secondary level, the graduate level and the postgraduate level.

In India, the education system can be said to be state-run. There are centralised boards as well as state boards to which the schools are affiliated. After the higher secondary level, education is imparted in colleges and universities, where the courses are bifurcated into academic, professional, and vocational courses.

An in-depth study of the complete system is crucial for a clearer understanding.

The education system that is currently existing in India can be said to have come down since the Rig Vedic times. In the early period, Mathematics was the only subject through which education was imparted which implies a logical approach to learning. In the latter period, subjects that were included to be taught were Pali grammar, buddhist literature, social values and logic.

For the Hindu society, education was imparted in pathshalas or gurukuls where the students had to stay and serve the ‘guru’ or the teacher and learn their lessons there. Education was free in those times. In a Muslim society there were Madrasas and Maqtabs. The Madrasas exist till today.

When India became a British colony, initially the East India Company did not think of working on or improving the education system in India. It was later that the missionaries coming from Europe introduced Western education in the country. The Sergeant Commission and the Hunter Commission are the commissions that were set up by the British to improve the quality of education in India.

There was immense improvement in the Indian system of education in the postcolonial period. The modern education system in India can be segmented into four distinctive layers roughly. They are: primary,secondary, higher secondary and higher education.

Modern India made it mandatory to educate children in the age group of 6 years to 14 years. The higher education refers to the education after completing the higher secondary level. The graduate, post graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral levels constitute the higher education in the country.

New Education Policy

The New Education Policy has made several amendments in the education system in India. The moderations made in the system has been mentioned in the section below:

• The foundational stage of education runs for 5 years. The age group covered in this segment is 3 years to 8 years.
• The preparatory stage runs for 3 years. The age group covered in this stage is 8 years to 11 years, which ideally corresponds to classes 5 to 8.
• The middle stage of education is between the age group of 11 years to 14 years. The classes covered are 6 to 8.
• The secondary stage is between 14 years and 16 years which includes the classes 9 and 10.
• The higher secondary stage is between 16 years and 18 years which corresponds to the higher secondary classes of 11 and 12.

Literacy Rate in India

The education system in India is controlled and supervised by three central committees - University Grants Commission (UGC). National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). There exists a Ministry of Education in each state. There are more than 37000 colleges and 700 universities in India.

The literacy rate in India for seven year olds and above is 74.04%. The male literacy rate stands at 82.14% while the female literacy rate in India is 65.46%. The GER or General Enrolment Ratio for higher education in India stands at 26.30%. The GER is a metric that represents the percentage of people in the age group of 18 years to 23 years going for higher education.

The Right to Education Act was enacted on Aug 4, 2009, and came into force in Apr 2010. This is an Act of the Parliament of India to safeguard the rights of children to education free of cost. As per the act, the children are entitled to receive free and compulsory education from 6 years of age to 14 years of age.

The Right to Education Act makes it mandatory for the children to free fundamental education irrespective of caste, creed or gender. The Act lists down the norms that the schools must abide by while imparting elementary education to the children of the specified age group.

The education system in India is divided into the pre primary level, the primary or the elementary level, the secondary level, the higher secondary level, the graduate level, the postgraduate level, and the doctoral and postdoctoral levels. The description for each level can be found below.

Pre-Primary Level: This stage covers the education of children between 3 and 6 years of age. While terminology may differ for different regions and schools, this stage mostly starts from the playgroup and ends with upper kindergarten.

Primary Level: This is a relatively longer stage and covers classes 1 to 8 in school. Classes 1 to 5 constitute the primary level and classes 6 to 8 constitute the upper primary level.

Secondary Level: This stage is constituted by classes 9 and 10 in school.

Higher Secondary Level: This stage includes classes 11 and 12 in school.

Graduate Level: This stage includes 3 years of degree courses which are done in the college.

Postgraduate Level: The postgraduate stage can be done in the colleges or universities.

Doctoral and Postdoctoral Levels: The doctoral and postdoctoral levels require research and are done at the universities.

There are a number of education boards in India apart from the state education boards. The central boards are CBSE, CISCE, and NIOS. Each of these boards has a separate set of curriculum for teaching as well as conducting exams.

The centrally operating education boards in India are the following:

• Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE)
• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
• National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

The state-run education boards in India can be found below:

• Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB)
• Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)
• Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE)
• Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE)
• Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh
• Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE)
• Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (RBSE)
• Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE)
• Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE)
• Andhra Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (BSEAP)
• Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education (BIEAP)

The education system in India has witnessed the introduction of various kinds of educational schemes aiming at improving the quality of education among the targeted population. All such schemes that have been introduced and implemented to improvement the education system and therefore the literacy rate are mentioned below:

1. Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act (2009) : This act was passed in 2009 to make education compulsory for all children aged between 6 and 14 years.

2. Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC): This scheme was introduced to aid in the development and promotion of a conducive ecosystem in the higher educational institutes for conducting research by way of communication and exchange of ideas with the foreign nations.

3. National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT): This scheme aimed at improving the quality of education in the higher educational institutes.

4. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA): This scheme was introduced in 2013 by the-then Ministry of Education. This scheme is sponsored by the Centre to facilitate strategic development in the higher educational institutes of the country.

5. NISHTHA 2.0: This scheme was introduced to train the teachers as per requirement to support logical and critical thinking in students.

6. Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana: This scheme has been introduced by the Government of India to facilitate better learning in 14,000 schools located country wide. The aim is to improve and uplift the education in these schools to bring them at par with the other centrally controlled and state controlled schools in the country.

7. Mid-Day Meal Scheme: This system was renamed the PM Poshan or Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman in September 2021. This scheme offers lunch to the children from classes 1 to 8 in the government-run schools.

8. PRAGYATA: This scheme issues an advisory in the form of guidelines, created by the NCERT, to the schools for digital education.

9. Samagra Shiksha: This scheme merges together the schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Teacher Education (TE), and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). This scheme covers the pre primary to the higher secondary level of education in the schools. The scheme fosters equal and all-inclusive education in the schools.

Despite the all round development of the education system in India, there are a few challenges faced by the system. Corrective measures can help in dealing with the challenges and taking the education system of India to be at par with the top ranking systems in the world.

The challenges faced by the system are:

1. Lack of Infrastructure: The lack of infrastructure in most of the schools in the rural area leads to an insufficient development of the students in terms of learning.

2. Rote Learning Methods: This is one of the major drawbacks of the Indian education system. As compared to the top ranking countries, in terms of education, the education system in India lies behind because of the rote learning techniques. The ways of teaching in most of the schools are rather outdated, despite digital platforms being used in a few. Stressing on rote learning fails to instil interest in the students thereby leading to a half hearted knowledge.

3. Lack of Practical Application: Most of the lessons imparted in the school level lack any demonstration or practical application. This leads to an insufficient knowledge among the students which hinders their educational growth in the long run.

4. Expensive Education: The top private schools rank among the best schools in the country. However, the expenses are sky reaching which makes it not just difficult but impossible for most of the population to afford these schools.

5. Teacher to Student Ratio: This is a factor that is constantly hindering proper learning among the students. The class strengths are quite high which makes it difficult for the teachers to pay attention to individual students and address their needs.

Good Morning to one and all present here! Today I am here to deliver a speech about education. It is usually a belief that education is the foundation for all-round development. Life is based on development and that developing and growing is life. If we describe this view into the perspective of education, we can sum up that education is the all-round development of the individual’s personality. Thus, education is nothing but all-round development of the individual’s personality. Education is a process of man-making. Hence, education is necessary for all.

Importance of Education

As per the report of the Kothari Commission, “the destiny of India is being shaped in its classrooms.” Education ingrain civic and social responsibility among everyone. India is a land of diversities. Therefore, in order to bring unity, education is a means for emotional integration. We cannot do without any kind of education. Education is an essential aspect of human development. Education is a means of achieving a world of peace, justice, freedom, and equality for all. Thus, education is extremely necessary for all. No good life is possible without education.

It indorses the intelligence of human beings, develops his skill, and enables him to be industrious. It ensures his progress. Education also channelizes the undeveloped capacities, attitude, interest, urges and needs of the individual into desirable channels. The individual can adjust and modify his environment with the help of education as per his need.

Problems and Prospects

In a democratic country, education is necessary for all its citizens. Unless all the citizens get education, democratic machinery cannot work well. So we may emphasize that the problem of equality of educational opportunities in Indian. This situation is a very formidable one.

Our education system is at cross-roads. The Indian constitution enacted that there should be a universalization of primary education. In the order of the constitution, it was indicated that compulsory education must be for all children up to the age of 14. The universalization of elementary education has been implemented as a national goal. ‘Education for all’ is now an international goal.

The main problems are finances. Rural-urban disparity due to illiteracy. Women’s education, economic conditions of backward communities and non-availability of equipment are some other major problems.

Strategies and efforts at the national and international level

Universal elementary education has run the formulation of the project “education for all”. The provision of article 45 of the Indian constitution is a noble determination for the universalization of elementary education. Big efforts have been made to reach the goal of providing elementary education to every child of the country through, universal enrolment, universal provision, and universal retention.

Our constitution is making arrangements for free and compulsory education with the right of minorities to establish educational institutions. As well as there are education for weaker sections, secular education, women’s education, instruction in the mother-tongue at the primary stage, etc. These constitutional provisions are nothing but our effort to achieve the target of the project “Education for all”.

Thus, in the end, we find that education is a significant factor for achieving success, building characters, and for living a wholesome and happy life. True education always humanizes the person. In this reference, “Education for all” has become an international goal for both developed and developing countries.

It is the tool keeps us happy and peaceful as well as makes us better socialize human beings. Our teachers are like God for us who helps us all in getting good quality education from the institutions. They try their best to make us learn everything and shape us for the future challenges. Our teacher comes in our lives, removes all the darkness, removes all the fears, removes all the doubts, and helps us to find a beautiful career in this big world.

Education is not about to gain only knowledge, however it means, learning the ways to be happy, learning the way to keep others happy, learning the way to live in society, learning the way to tackle challenges, learning the way to help others, learning the way to care older, and learning the way how to behave others. My dear friends, education is like a healthy food which nourishes us both internally and externally. It makes us strong internally and gives lots of confidence by making our personality and giving us knowledge. Good education is only way to remove bad habits, poverty, inequality, gender discrimination and so many social issues.

Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends. My dear friends, education is the tool which removes all the differences among us and makes us capable to go ahead together. It makes our challenging paths of the life very easy to lead. Getting quality education is like yoga and meditation as it requires concentration, patience and dedication. Without education, there is no difference between human beings and animals. Education is a powerful tool capable to solve all the social, personal and family problems. It is like a medicine which has capability to treat almost all the diseases. Getting education is not only means to get good job, it means to make a good personality, to be healthy and fit, to maintain hygiene, to be happy all time, to behave well to others, to tackle all challenges of life and so many.

Education is most important to all of us to lead a happy life. Earlier the education system in India was so poor and undisciplined. The kids of rich people were allowed to study however kids of poor people were not allowed to study in the same school or college. Poor people were forced to do labour in the fields only, which was the main reason of discrimination among people in society, inequality, gender inequality, and lots of social issues because of the lack of good education. Low level of education for poor people made them vulnerable to the economic and political exploitation in their own country. There has been made adequate provisions for the poor people in the Indian constitution in order to remove inequality and ensure the empowerment and participation of people of all levels equally.

The right for proper education is the birth right of everyone, restricting one from getting proper education is the crime. Education helps us to understand between good or bad, right or wrong and help us in taking decision in the favour of right ones. It helps us in everything of wide range of problems. We can solve the mysteries of this universe. Education is like magic which helps us to learn all the magic to stay happily on this planet. It keeps us free of all doubts, superstitions as well as removes away all the social evils affecting the society. Better educated people can safeguard their family and nation in more secure and easy way.

Education means a lot to us, without education we are nothing. We get motivated towards the education from our childhood by our parents and from teachers when we start going to school. Education is not only means to read, write or learn, it is the way to live positively and live life happily. Education provides better opportunity in future for viable economic growth. It helps us to keep ourselves and people related to us happy and healthy. It gives proper understanding to us to tackle to many problems all through the life. Through the proper education, one knows the value of people and value of unity which ultimately reduces the conflicts among people in family, society and country. Good education is the best tool for any nation to go ahead, grow and develop among other strong nations. Well educated people of any country are the most precious assets of that country. Education is the way to reduce mother and child mortality rate by improving their health.

Education brings transparency, stability, good governance as well as helps to fight against graft and corruption. Still, in many backwards regions the meaning of education is nothing. They are so poor that they spend their whole day in earning only two times food. They understand that earning money from childhood is good instead of wasting money in education. Education is really an amazing tool which raises income, improves health, promotes gender equality, mitigates climate change, reduces poverty and so many. It helps in making a peaceful environment at home or in office. Education provides intellectual freedom and keeps us happy physically, mentally, socially and intellectually. It promotes the habit of ideas and experiences sharing among people as well as motivates them for morals, ethics and community responsibilities.

It’s very hard to imagine a world without schools and colleges. I think it is impossible for everyone. Every one of us gets problem in waking up in the early morning or studying all through the night during monthly tests and examinations. However, we all know well about the value and importance of the education in our life. It is not true that if one does not get proper education, he becomes fail in life. However, education provides better chance in life to always go ahead and easy ways to get success in life. Education is very important to all of us as it provides confidence and dare to lot of problems.

Educated people are better able to fulfil their dreams in comparison to the uneducated people. Education is very important for a person to overcome all the ancient superstitions which negatively affects our lives even after being baseless and useless. Illiterate and uneducated people become more prone to the superstitious beliefs very easily as they have no clue about truth. Education improves our awareness about the reality of superstitions and replaces all the negative beliefs with proper reasons and logics. In the ever changing world of high technologies, it needs to be careful and updated all time which is not possible without education. Without education it is not possible for everyone to accept and adapt all the changes of modern world.

A well educated person becomes more aware of the latest technologies and keeps himself more updated to the all changes going throughout the world. In this advance world of internet, everyone go to internet and search required information to get online and quick knowledge. The education system in the modern world has become so easy and comfortable than the ancient time just because of the internet. Everyone knows how to surf internet however uneducated one may not know all the benefits of the internet however educated one understand internet as a gift of technology and use in their personal and professional life to make better and happy career.

Education involves better in the life to make it happy and healthy. Illiterate people do lots of ignorance towards their health, family, society and country. Such ignorance may prove very dangerous in their life and personal and national growth and development. Educated people know better how to keep themselves happy and healthy as well as prevent from a number of diseases. Educated person knows well about the symptoms of any disease and never avoid seeking medical aids unless symptoms gone completely however uneducated person do opposite because of lack of knowledge and poverty. It makes us confident, more sociable and more responsible towards our life.

The current education system in India is not one that is healthy or good. Education has been turned into a mindless rat race. 

The purpose of education is no longer to gain knowledge but to ‘score good grades’ in order to ‘get good careers’. Learning, as a whole, is lost in the pursuit of memorizing the correct answers and remembering ‘key terms’ and ‘important questions’. In this way, no learning is happening!

We need to revert back to the Gurukula system. With its hands-on approach, students would be able to actually learn in a practical way. 

Let us all unite and do away with this mindless process of learning and the bloodthirsty battle for marks!

Warm Greetings of the Day Ladies and Gentlemen!

As you all know we have gathered today to discuss our Indian Education System and what all prospects it holds for our students and of course also for the students flying in from abroad. If we trace its roots, we will realize that our modern education system is not actually our own, but has been taken from the west. The Indian modern-day education in India came with the Britishers who were accompanied with the Christian missionaries. What these Christian missionaries did was that they founded various schools for imparting secular education to the Indian natives and also to draw them towards Christianity.

If we were to go back to the ancient history of the Indian education system, we would realize that it was founded based on the gurukula system wherein the emphasis was laid down on the direct relationship between the guru or what we call in modern times the teacher and his sisya or pupil. This form of education system laid stress on living an austere life and the study revolved around gaining the knowledge of Vedic literature. It was largely dedicated to the teaching of philosophy, theology and philology. It was an all-inclusive education system branching out from spirituality and philosophy to the study of the art of war and stressing on good moral values and a healthy lifestyle.

Education was imparted on the basis of Varna. Both the women folk and sudras were deprived of the education system and vocational courses, if any, were meant for the old members of the community and families. During the medieval period, the ‘madarsa’ system prevailed which much dominated the educational system at that time. The schools were largely madarsas and pathshalas, which were functional, under the supervision of the maulvis, chiefly for the Muslim students and under the supervision of the Brahmin priests for Hindu students respectively.

There was seriously no change observed in the thinking of the people towards education during that period mainly because both the Hindus and the Muslims were still holding on to their traditional outlook and laid emphasis on philosophical as well as religious education instead of secular education.

However, we should also not forget that it’s only post 17th century that secular education gained a huge impetus in Western Europe and it was not until 19 th century that the idea of scientific knowledge came to the forefront.

Whatever the case is, the present education system in India is still not fortified enough to provide its youth with enough job opportunities. The education system is still confined to its classroom teaching and is not well equipped to offer its students a great practical learning experience so much so that when they complete their education they are able to earn their livelihood without facing any obstacles. The education system needs to remain grounded to reality and concomitant with the present market demand so that the students can become revenue generators and not a liability on their immediate family. This is all from my side.

I – Aditya Khare – am your host for today and before we begin discussing about Indian Education System please allow me to welcome our esteemed guest, Mr. ………., for gracing our ceremony with his presence. Ladies and gentleman, for those of you who don’t know he is the head of the education department in Delhi University. Words will fall short of their meaning if I happen to describe his achievements in the field of education, but it cannot go without a special mention that he is constantly striving to make our Indian Education System free from all flaws and accessible to all its young, talented pool of students.

We have not assembled today to praise our Indian Education System because it is still too far from being the best education provider globally. Therefore, let us discuss the main concerns related with our current education system, in what ways we can overcome them so that our students can derive the maximum benefit out of it and it can be given its due value both on national as well as international platform.

I believe that the current education system has failed to meet the expectations of its students in terms of giving them due employment upon finishing their education. There is no connection between the education being imparted to our students and the employment opportunities available in the outside world. As a result of which, the students find themselves unable to cope with the situation and get dejected. However, in recent times both the central as well as the state governments have begun paying attention to this serious challenge and are trying to bridge the gap between the two.

Progress in the field of education has been really dismal. Our government only spends 3.85% of the GDP on education and millions of students still do not get the opportunity to enroll themselves in school even though the mark of improvement in the gross enrollment ratio. Post independence, it was believed that the education system in India requires an overall improvement in terms of the present day needs and fast changing technology.

As previously there was no connection found between the education being imparted in our classrooms and employment opportunities present outside, the experts have set a keen eye on the syllabus and the framework of the Indian education system so much so that these can be adapted to the changing needs of the contemporary times. This would result in gaining better job prospects and we as a nation would then be able to keep a check on the problem of ‘brain-drain’’ and ensure that both the personal interest of the student and the national students can go hand in hand.

We should understand that the fate of our nation depends on our youth and if they are empowered no one can stop our nation from growing and accomplishing new heights on a global platform. In the end, I would request our hon’ble chief guest to come on stage and say a few words in this regard.

To our dismay, our Indian education system is rooted in rote learning where students are bogged down under the load of books and higher the marks a student scores the brighter are the chances of him/her securing a good job in a good company. But let me ask you to what extent is this a fair criterion of selection because marks on the score cards do not dictate everything. There is much more to it in a student than just grades and marks. We also need to evaluate a student on the basis of his creative ability and other level of aptitude. For instance, whereas one student may be good in Mathematics; another student may have inclination towards painting and perhaps would want to become a painter.

The gross mistake we commit is when we start drawing a comparison between two individuals who are born with different abilities and potentials. Evaluating a student only on the basis of preconceived notions, such as if he/she is good at Mathematics or Science or English and not on the basis of his/her areas of interests, which could be playing cricket, football, table tennis, or may be singing, dancing, etc. should always be discouraged. We should let the talent grow in our country and provide it the best possible environment to thrive only then will we as a nation be able to make our country proud globally.

Besides harnessing talent in our country, it is also very important to impart education to every section of society irrespective of caste, class, gender and race. If each and every citizen of our country is educated, they would we be able to awaken their minds to the mysteries and wonders of the world. This way they would be able to free themselves from the chains of superstition, doubt and root out all the social evils which are plaguing our society and degenerating the mindset of our people. Providing education to every section of our society is important because it will then help train their reasoning ability and sharpen their intellectual level to help them logically reason everything and do not get carried away by illogical or false promises of the ruling classes. In short, it would make them cultured, civilized and benign citizens of a proud nation.

Speech on Indian Education System 4

Greetings of the day one and all – I hope this day finds you in the best of spirits!

Welcome to the speech ceremony of today. The speech topic for today is the Indian Education System. I, Sakshi Kalra, am your host for today and believe that you all have got to say something since we all are a product of this system. There are some positives as well as some negatives too. The importance of education can never be undermined for in the words of Lord Brougham, “Education makes people easy to lead, but difficult to drive, easy to govern, but impossible to enslave”. This statement holds so true because in the absence of education a man is just reduced to an animal-like existence.

Have you ever seen a flock of sheep? How it is herded and needed to be taken care of? Likewise, a man without education can be compared to a flock of sheep which can only be herded. Education is really important to civilize a man and help him think rationally otherwise he will be reduced to a mere savage. Do you know from where the word education is derived? It is taken from the Latin word, which means to “draw out”. True education therefore implies honing our mental faculties which are so important for leading a meaningful existence.

However, there are several lapses in our education system so let us know what needs to be changed in it. Since the beginning there have been quite a lot of inconsistencies or flaws in our education system and until this time we have not been able to cleanse our education system of these inconsistencies. In fact, Rabindranath Tagore once wrote a long article about how the education system in India can be ameliorated. Only a few changes have been observed since the colonial era. Many IIMs, IITs, law schools and other learning centers of excellence have been opened up where students are able to score 90% marks so much so that even students with more than 90 percent of marks are finding it so difficult to get admission in a good college and most importantly in the colleges of their choice.

Sadly, rote learning is still prevalent in our system where students study just to fair well in exams and sometimes to clear such exams like AIIMS, IIT JEE or CLAT. The Britishers founded education system in our country with a view to create civil servants and clerks and more or less the pattern is still the same. The students prepare for bank exams, civil service exams and even to get into a good engineering or medical college. We still have good learning centers, schools and colleges but their numbers are still less in comparison to thousands of mediocre or unaffiliated educational institutes which are just money making businesses and spoiling the lives of many students.

Concrete measures are required to be taken in order to improve our education system so that students enjoy in their entire journey of learning and do not consider it as a sheer burden.
