Stephen 'tWitch' Boss and Allison Holker's 3 Kids: All About Weslie, Maddox and Zaia

Stephen "tWitch" Boss was a family man first and foremost.

The former Ellen Degeneres Show DJ died by suicide at age 40 , his wife of nine years, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed to PEOPLE on Dec. 14, 2023. "He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans," she shared in a statement.

Boss and Holker Boss shared three children: Weslie Renae, 16, Maddox Laurel, 8, and Zaia, 4. The couple first met in 2010 on So You Think You Can Dance and married three years later. Holker Boss was already mom to daughter Weslie, whom Boss adopted. The couple welcomed their first son together, Maddox, in 2016, followed by daughter Zaia in 2019.

A few weeks before Boss' death, the parents of three appeared on Jennifer Hudson 's eponymous talk show and spoke about the possibility of having more kids . "I think we would love to start trying for another one," said Holker Boss.

Boss agreed, saying, "We do. I love the little babies, I love them. It's a constant conversation."

On Father Day's in 2022, he wrote on Instagram that " being dad is my favorite earthly assignment ."

In a May 2023 interview, Holker Boss spoke with PEOPLE about how she and her kids have supported each other in the months following Boss' death . "I always want to make sure that they see me really strong for them, but it's been amazing to see that my kids are also there for me now," she said.

She also said that the kids still feel connected to their father, explaining that they believe Boss is now among the stars. "So we go out there, and we talk to him. I've told them if they ever need him, he's always listening. He's guiding and he's protecting. We still feel his presence with us."

Weslie Renae Fowler, 16

Holker Boss welcomed daughter Weslie Renae on May 26, 2008, with a previous partner. Boss later adopted Weslie and the two shared a special bond.

Weslie is currently a high school sophomore. "She's so cool. She's such a good kid. She's so respectful," Holker Boss told Jennifer Hudson of her daughter in November 2022.

Weslie grew up playing soccer and joined her high school's team. In an Instagram post celebrating Title IX's 50th anniversary, Weslie shared a few photos of herself on the soccer field and wrote: "Soccer is where I can channel my focus in something I truly love and form bonds that last a lifetime."

Off the field, she has also joined her parents at red carpet premieres and events. In October 2022, she attended the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with her mom and dad.

Like many kids her age, Weslie is also active on social media (though her Instagram is managed by her parents). In 2020 — when she was just 12 years old — Weslie responded to a user who asked why she "dresses like a boy" with a TikTok , saying, "Patriarchy is dead. Just because I don't wear dresses and bright pink doesn't mean I'm dressing like a boy."

She continued her response with, "This is my style. I wear comfy clothes and darker colors and just because I dress like that doesn't mean I'm dressing like a boy and it doesn't mean that boys or girls are defined by certain things because of their gender. It doesn't mean anything and just because you can't open your eyes doesn't mean I'm about to change."

Holker Boss later praised Weslie for sticking up for herself . The proud mom opened up to PEOPLE about the incident, explaining, "What we taught her is by you addressing it, it almost releases it from you. You don't have to hold on to those negative comments ."

She added, "We didn't tell her to make that video, that was of her own accord, but what we have told her is, 'Are you addressing it? You don't have to hold onto that pain anymore.' And hopefully that person sees it and realizes, 'Oh, wow, maybe I should look in on myself.' "

The high school student isn't afraid to speak about other social causes either. When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in July 2022, Weslie joined her mother for an Instagram video where they listed all the things a 14-year-old girl wasn't allowed to do as a U.S. citizen. The video concluded by asking how, if she were to get pregnant, would she be able to take care of a baby if she is not "legally able to independently to take care of herself" at that age.

In February 2023, Weslie shared her first social media post since Boss' death . In her TikTok video, the teenager posed in front of a mirror, showing off photos of her and Boss, which were visible inside her phone case.

She captioned the video: "i miss u."

On the first anniversary of Boss' death, Weslie posted an emotional tribute to her dad, sharing that she was reminiscing on their " beautiful memories ."

"A year of missing you, but not a single day goes by without thinking of what you’ve given to the world. Your love, guidance, and wisdom continue to inspire me. Missing warm hugs, your wisdom, and the sound of your voice," she wrote.

"Though the pain of your absence remains, I find serenity in the beautiful memories we shared. You were my father, my superhero, and my best friend, and my biggest advocate. Your love and support shaped me into the person I am today," Weslie continued.

While talking to PEOPLE in August 2024, Holker Boss said that she and Weslie are " best friends. "

"We lean on each other in our high moments, but also our low moments, when we're really emotional or triggered or going through something," she said. "I'm really, really grateful that she sees me and I see her. We listen to each other and we communicate."

Maddox Laurel Boss, 8

On March 27, 2016, Boss and Holker Boss welcomed son Maddox Laurel. He was born on Easter Sunday and the new parents told PEOPLE in a statement at the time that the birth " was truly an unforgettable moment ."

As an infant, Maddox was already showing that he had inherited his parents' dancing genes. " Our baby dances every night ," Holker Boss told PEOPLE a few months after his birth. "He's already a popper. He loves hip-hop music. He jams out every single night. It's incredible. We actually had our baby to the song 'Push It' by Salt-N-Pepa, so he's musically inclined, and he's got a lot of rhythm."

And as the years have passed, Maddox has participated in plenty of Boss family dance parties . In August 2022, he even joined his parents at the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance — the very show where Boss and Holker Boss first met. Following the finale, Holker Boss shared photos of their family outing on Instagram, writing in part, " This show just means the world to us !! It feels like home!! And now bringing our son Maddox to see was just perfect!!!"

The same month, Maddox started first grade. Boss marked his son's first day of school on Instagram , writing, "First day First grade!! The time is going by too fast but little Boss you are taking the world by storm. Go get em mane!!! We love you Maddox."

In September 2022, Holker Boss opened up about the back-to-school season in the Boss household, calling it "beautiful chaos." She continued, "Our kids are thriving. They're so excited to be back in school , back into their sports and activities. There's a lot of excitement and nerves, but as a parent, it's so rewarding, you watch [your kids] go through all of the emotions. It's been a really cool time."

Holker Boss put together a small celebration at home for Maddox's seventh birthday in March 2023 that included presents and lots of candy.

"Happy 7th birthday my sweet sweet Maddox!" the mom-of-three wrote on Instagram. "Oh I love you so much and couldn't be more proud or grateful to be your mommy. I'm so proud of you! You are brave, strong, endearing, loving, and full of joy. You have this beautiful passion for life that brings light into every room you walk (run, jump, fly) into."

She continued: "We had an incredible talk the other night and we talked about how powerful you are and that we share a forever bond… your the sun and I'm your moon.. pulling for each other forever and ever!"

Zaia Boss, 4

The Boss crew became a family of five with the arrival of daughter Zaia in November 2019.

Boss and Holker Boss' older children adjusted to Zaia's arrival well, with the DJ telling PEOPLE in 2020, "Weslie's always just been the best big sister, even with Maddox before. It's like having a built-in babysitter. And with her new sister, she's also eager to help. Very, very helpful. And Maddox is really excited."

When Zaia was just 16 months old, however, she ended up in a leg cast after "going down a slide in the park." Holker Boss told PEOPLE about the accident, "They said she's so little that [they'd] cast her up just to be sure. So it was only a couple of weeks, but either way, it's really sad. We see this tiny little baby in a cast , but it's also kind of cute, in a weird way."

To celebrate Zaia's 2nd birthday in 2021, Boss penned a heartfelt tribute to his little girl on Instagram , writing, "Happy birthday Zaia!!! This little Boss princess is 2 years old today and already making her mark on the world and our hearts. My sweetpea, you are truly one of a kind. With each day that goes by, you astonish and inspire us………and demand that Elmo always be on the TV. IG FAM please help me wish Baby Z a happy birthday."

Just ahead of her 3rd birthday in 2022, Zaia and her family dressed up as the Addams Family for Halloween . Mom and Dad fittingly took on the roles of Morticia and Gomez, while Weslie and Maddox transformed into Wednesday and Pugsley, respectively. As for Zaia? She turned into the most adorable Pubert — mustache and all.

Embracing discomfort and taking calculated risks can help you evolve and reach new levels of success. You may find that the very things that terrify most employees can become the catalyst for your next opportunity. The next time these three risks come up, consider leaning into the opportunity.

1. Relocating To A New Market

The prospect of relocating to a different city can be so daunting that many may turn down new roles or even change companies in order to stay close to their home base. I’ve been there—early on in my career, I relocated my young family first to Orlando and then to Denver to take on roles with growing responsibilities within my company. It’s not easy starting over in a new place, but I ultimately have found that the benefits far outweigh the initial discomfort.

Moving to a new location exposed me to how markets across the country operate differently and broadened my understanding of the construction industry. Most importantly, I was able to build valuable relationships with leaders in my new region. Many of these contacts also eventually moved to other cities to pursue different roles within our company, expanding my network and influence beyond one area. As a result, today I have relationships across the country I can call on for advice or support with a project.

It's important when you do move to make the most of the experience and be intentional in building relationships. Get involved with company culture committees, and attend events and celebrations. The more you can immerse yourself in the company culture and the more coworkers you can get to know on a personal level, the stronger your network will become.

2. Taking On A New Role Or Assignment Outside Your Experience

As companies evolve, roles also change and shift. Occasionally there will be an opportunity to lead an initiative no one has done before—for example, taking ownership of a new technology or starting an office in an untested market. It can be intimidating to build a role or team without a blueprint, but don’t let your fear keep you from volunteering for the challenge.

I’ve often advised my three sons (two also work in construction) to seek out the most difficult jobs. It’s the best way to learn in your career. When you take on a project no one else will do, you build skills no one else has—increasing your value to your organization and setting yourself apart from your peers.

This can also build your profile at the company. Senior leaders aren’t paying close attention to the easy projects that are running on autopilot: They’re focusing their energy on trying to resolve their pain points. In other words, they aren’t keeping as close of tabs on the markets that are doing well as they are on the ones that are struggling.

When you raise your hand to lead or work in the challenging market—and follow through by helping it to become more successful—you’ll build a reputation as someone the leadership team can trust.

3. Asking For Help

In a culture that often champions self-sufficiency, asking for help can feel like admitting defeat and showing a sign of weakness. However, it’s a crucial step toward professional growth. Some professionals may exercise the mantra "fake it until you make it," fearing that asking for help or advice will expose a weakness.

In reality, seeking clarity and admitting gaps in your knowledge can prevent costly mistakes and shows that you care about the quality of your work. Asking for advice may even help you connect with a valuable mentor who is more seasoned in the field.

Asking for help fosters a culture of collaboration and learning. It demonstrates that you value the expertise of your colleagues and are open to learning from them. This can build stronger, more collaborative teams.

Often, what intimidates the majority of employees can be the very thing that propels you toward your next big break. When presented with such risks, don't let fear immobilize you—embrace it.

Mookie Betts returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup on Monday after an eight-week stint on the injured list with a fractured hand and added to his legend with one swing.

In his second at-bat, he homered to left field. He also didn't have a rehab assignment.

He went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and scoring one run in the win.

“Being able to pencil his name in the lineup, we certainly got a lot better,” Roberts said of Betts before Monday’s game. “We’re kind of getting to the point where we’re putting guys in their respective spots in the order, which adds length and makes us a better ballclub.”

His return also marked a c hange in his position , again. Betts has moved back to the outfield and is now batting second instead of leadoff, the spot he has been in since he arrived in Los Angeles. He isn't a stranger to the outfield; he has won six Gold Gloves there.

Betts' performance sparked a topic of conversation for FOX Sports personality Colin Cowherd and he made a pretty big statement.

"The two worst trades in major league baseball history both belong to the Red Sox," Cowherd said. "They gave up Babe Ruth, and they gave up Mookie Betts.

"You think I'm being hyperbolic here, Mookie Betts had been gone for two months. The kid's incredible. When he was in his prime, the Red Sox were like, ‘We're going to move him to the Dodgers.' Yeah, you'll need a search party for the guys they got for him because only one player still remains with the Red Sox."

Coincidentally, the Betts trade came exactly 100 off-seasons after they traded Ruth. The trade of Ruth was followed by an 86-year World Series drought. Could something like that happen again? It might be too early to tell.

Boston traded Betts to the Dodgers in Feb. 2020. He was entering the final year of his contract and the two parties failed to agree on a long-term solution. Instead of waiting for him to hit the free agent market, the Red Sox made a massive with the Dodgers. Betts ended up signing a 12-year, $365 million extension in July that year.

The Red Sox haven't been the same since. They won the World Series in 2018 and since then, they rank 17th in winning percentage, 17th in run differential, and 18th in home run differential in the years that have passed.
