Key factors to evaluate parameters of any power plant include, low cost for investing, minimum operation and maintenance cost, and maximum efficiency. This study is about determining and agreeing to the power plants set up in Tamil Nadu, India using observational data followed by the application of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) analysis to rank the existing power plants according to their optimal usage and generation. Various power plants based on different sources of energy installed in the state are taken into consideration, Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) method is used to specify which among them the most suitable one for optimized usage is. The acquired solution will also help in deciding the future prospects about the power plants. The methodology used for the study is a basic approach toward handling such a decision problem and can be further applied to any study of similar nature.

In recent years, there has been a remarkable growth of interest in environmental issues, sustainability and the better management of development in harmony with the environment. Associated with this growth of interest has been the introduction of new legislation, emanating from national and international agencies (e.g. the European Commission) that seek to influence the relationship between development and environment. Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is an important example. EIA means identify, predict and evaluate the environmental effects of proposed actions. EIA is a tool of decision-making development. The three core value of EIA study that has been identifying till date is integrity, utility and sustainability. EIA is a tool for measuring environmental impacts of a upcoming projects or activity covering physical and social factors and providing measure to minimize their impacts. In real sense it is a tool to evaluate the impact of business activity, profitable planning or action leading to bio-geophysical environment and on the health and well being of human beings and interpreting and making public aware about the same. That is to say, EIA focuses on various complications, hardships faced by environment in terms of curtailment of natural resources or human health proned to the upcoming project. It also examines implications of a project that might harm people, their homeland or their livelihood or other nearby developments. After predicting the problems, an

The Rio treaties broadened the concept of common concern and global responsibility for protection of environment. Economic growth and environmental degradation can be de-linked by promoting more eco-efficient growth patterns. Despite the rapid economic growth the concern of environmental sustainability is the challenge of every country. This paper highlights the direct relation of government role in the monitoring process of environmental impact assessment towards sustainable development. The signs of unsustainable growth include high future infrastructure costs, an increasing tendency to produce waste and continuing declines in natural capital of country. Environment and its protection need a wide approach irrespective of boundaries. An economic and social justification characterize all environmental protection measures aiming to protect human health and safety. Through effective legislation on environment issue and with national instrument of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) the path of sustainable development can be easily achieved. The right to decent, healthy and viable environment is not only the right of present generation but is the right of human race on earth. This right becomes the root word for sustainable development. Effective implementation of law and people participation is required to ensure environmental governance in India.

As the word Environment gained its eloquence, in 1972 from the well focused United Nations Conference on the Human Environment which became the periphery of interrelating day to day human activities & its effect on Environment. Further the momentum has been attained in 1992, from the U.N Conference on Environment & Development named as Earth Summit which resulted in farming action plan to achieve Sustainable Development & so emerged the most relevant tool to assess a potential project for environmental impacts known as " EIA ". EIA envisages the future environmental impacts arising from upcoming project or a development activity providing suitable options & feasible measures for reduction of adverse impacts, making project friendly to lives of number of local habitants & hence maintaining sustainable livelihoods. Hence EIA is the best perceived tool for achieving the sustainability, i.e. desired balance between needs of today keeping in mind the demands of future generations. The approach sustainable development was introduced into the global scenario in the 1980s as a sphere co-relating economic development, the natural environment and people. This paper reviews the various analytical tools available to determine environmental impacts & there applications & respective comparison with EIA. The objectives of study to a large extent has been based on mapping & analysis of relevant flows of material, energy, environmental impacts & CO 2 generation per tonne of clinker & cement in Jaypee Sidhi Cement Plant, Sidhi (M.P.) –India, A unit of Jaiprakash Associates through Life Cycle Assessment tool. LCA methods is used for compiling & examining the inputs & outputs of energy, raw material, environmental impacts & emissions directly attributable to the manufacture & functioning of a production of product from " Cradle to Grave ". Production of cement involves the consumption of large quantities of raw materials, energy & pyro-processing. Also cement production is one of the largest contributors to global Co 2 emissions. Environmental impacts are taken in study as per national ambient air quality standards, 2009 of MoFF & CC. LCA methods are more precisely defined in ISO standards 14040 & 14044. Major thrust on following sections have been given in the study is goal & scope definition, inventory analysis, impacts assessment & interpretation. Potential impacts are also evaluated using the software & help of International Reference Life Cycle Data System Method recommended by European Commission in this study. Cost based analyses of above different segments were too taken in account in this research paper. Index Copernicus Value: 3.0-Articles can be sent to [email protected]

Economic development and environmental degradation are usually inversely proportional to each other and this can be reversed by endorsing more eco-competent growth policies. Although with the prompt economic growth, the concern of environmental sustainability is still a major challenge for every country. EIA since its inception has been considered as a holistic tool in assessing the potential impacts of developmental projects on the natural environment. EIA in India was first launched in 1994 and since then it has been undergoing a renaissance, and now several developmental projects have to obtain necessary environmental clearance as per the EIA notification 2006. This paper focuses on a critical overview of the evolution, process, and changes. Evaluation of the process using SOAR analysis helps in increasing the transparency and efficacy in the EIA. This research finally concludes by inferring that EIA if exercised properly shall not only ensure a clean and healthy environment but ...

Environmental engineering has been defined as the Branch of engineering, that is concerned with protecting the environment from the potentially deleterious effects of human activity protecting human populations from the effects of adverse environmental factors and thus improving environmental quality for human health and well beings. Today the major problem in front of us is the pollution caused by various industries such as chemical industries, sugar factories, thermal power plants, and cement industries, etc. Their “ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT” can do economic evaluation of the health damages. In this report we have studied a case study on Pauk H.E. project in Arunachal Pradesh & has studied its impact on the environment. Thus we have studied the EIA plan & also problems related to it.

Chaos and Confusion: Tech Outage Causes Disruptions Worldwide

Airlines, hospitals and people’s computers were affected after CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company, sent out a flawed software update.

A view from above of a crowded airport with long lines of people.

Airlines grounded flights. Operators of 911 lines could not respond to emergencies. Hospitals canceled surgeries. Retailers closed for the day. And the actions all traced back to a batch of bad computer code.

A flawed software update sent out by a little-known cybersecurity company caused chaos and disruption around the world on Friday. The company, CrowdStrike , based in Austin, Texas, makes software used by multinational corporations, government agencies and scores of other organizations to protect against hackers and online intruders.

But when CrowdStrike sent its update on Thursday to its customers that run Microsoft Windows software, computers began to crash.

The fallout, which was immediate and inescapable, highlighted the brittleness of global technology infrastructure. The world has become reliant on Microsoft and a handful of cybersecurity firms like CrowdStrike. So when a single flawed piece of software is released over the internet, it can almost instantly damage countless companies and organizations that depend on the technology as part of everyday business.

“This is a very, very uncomfortable illustration of the fragility of the world’s core internet infrastructure,” said Ciaran Martin, the former chief executive of Britain’s National Cyber Security Center and a professor at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University.

A cyberattack did not cause the widespread outage, but the effects on Friday showed how devastating the damage can be when a main artery of the global technology system is disrupted. It raised broader questions about CrowdStrike’s testing processes and what repercussions such software firms should face when flaws in their code cause major disruptions.
