Limited-Time Offer : Access a FREE 10-Day IELTS Study Plan!

The PTE exam is divided into four modules: reading, writing, speaking and listening. In the first part of the exam, you will complete the speaking and writing modules together. While your writing score will be evaluated through your responses to other questions as well, there are just two writing tasks: Summarise Written Text and Write Essay.

The PTE essay writing task is designed to assess your understanding of grammatical structures, vocabulary, spelling, and, most importantly, written communication skills. As a result, it’s crucial that you familiarise yourself with this section and know what to expect before taking the exam. Keep reading to learn about the essay writing task, how to attempt it, and how to gain an impressive score in this category.

PTE Writing Task

You will be given a 2 or 3 line question prompt expressing an opinion or assertion for this task. The question prompt can be composed in a variety of styles.

Some questions will prompt you with a generalised statement and ask you to elaborate on a particular aspect or pick a side.

Example :  Some people think that teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge what is right and wrong so that they can behave well. Others say that teachers should only teach students academic subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Meanwhile, some prompts will ask you a direct question.

Example :  Do you think the place where a person grew up helps him/her in accomplishing goals in life? Do you agree or disagree?

Following the prompt, you will be instructed to write a 200-300 word essay in response to the question. An introduction section, two main paragraphs that advance an idea, and finally, a conclusion should constitute the elements of the essay in the given order.

You have only 20 minutes to prepare, write, and edit your essay. As a result, it is critical that you practise this task several times well before the exam. For example, you might be required to discuss issues or solutions or to argue against or for a point of view. Likewise, you may need to debate whether you concur or disagree with a given statement.

Types of essays in PTE Writing Task

There are 4 essential Essay types in the PTE:

  • Argument essay type: For this type of essay topic in the PTE, you are given two viable alternatives and are expected to choose and support one of them.
  • Discussion essay type: Applicants are expected to write about a specific aspect of an issue that is being explored in depth in this type of essay.
  • Problem-Solution essay type: candidates are given a problem and prompted to write about possible solutions to the problem.
  • Opinion essay type: Candidates must express their thoughts on a specific topic.

Common Topics for each essay Type

The most effective way to prepare is to become acquainted with the most common types of topics in the PTE Write Essay. PTE essay topics can roughly be categorized as follows:

  • law and policy
  • Environment

Now let us take a look at example topics for each from past question papers.

  • Do you think consumers should avoid over-packaged products or it is the responsibility of the producer to avoid extra packaging of products? Give your views or any relevant example with your own experience.
  • What is the best invention of the last 100 years, the computer, antibiotics, the airplane, and explain why?
  • Many people think regions affect successful people. What are your opinions about native regions and accomplished person influence on the regions they belong to?
  • In some countries around the world, voting is compulsory. Do you agree with the notion of compulsory voting?

Discussion:

  • Company Top level Authorities should or should not take employees’ suggestions or ideas to make any decisions
  • Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. What is your opinion about this? Discuss with appropriate examples.

Problem/Solution:

  • International travel and tourism make people prejudiced rather than broad-minded. What are its causes and what measures can be taken to solve this problem?
  • There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays? Please provide a solution.

This list is obviously not exhaustive, because there are several other unusual question topics.

How to Prepare?

It is critical to prepare for any essay type that you might have to write in the PTE. Your score is influenced by how you present your response. You are evaluated in PTE Write Essay by utilizing good word choice and organizing your answer effectively and correctly while presenting your thoughts. In other words, your aim is to show your ability to use appropriate word choices – a solid command of vocabulary and organize them appropriately to eliminate ambiguity.

A good essay requires a precise and logical structure, and the PTE essay is no exception. In fact, PTE encourages a methodical structural approach with a simple introduction, main body, and closing paragraph, all of which are intended to improve the effectiveness of the computerized marking system.

The key feature of a high-scoring essay is that paragraphs pursue a natural progression of development. This means that the pattern of your passages should quickly recognize strong correlations from the first para to the next and so on. You must avoid writing unrelated loose elements and keep your content coherent.

The subject of your essay is critical, and it is graded by analyzing whether all parts of the issue have been covered in the response and whether offered information, examples, and explanations adequately support the test taker’s point of view.

When it comes to the essay, free your mind. Allow ideas to flow and prepare for a good debate. Be creative as much as possible but only if your approach does not deviate from the topic! If you do not discuss the subject, you will receive a 0 on all attributes.

You will also be granted the following points, which are quite simple to gain:

  • 2 marks for no spelling mistakes
  • 2 marks for no noticeable grammatical errors
  • 2 marks for penning in between 200 and 300 words.

These should be simple marks that you should capitalise on.

To conclude, evaluate the prompt and plan what the question requires you to do. Determine the topic, key points to cover, and arguments to present. After that, you must make a decision regarding which side of the debate you will take. You can then sketch out a rough outline of the structure and content you want your essay to have. Finally, allow yourself a few moments to check for misspelled words, proper punctuation, and proper grammar.

Start practicing your PTE essay as much as possible prior to the test, and keep this advice handy to help you study – we’re confident you’ll do well!

PTE Essay Writing Guide

PTE essays are a form of exam testing that will assess every facet of your writing skills and ability.

PTE essays have become one of the more frequent standardised tests that assess writing competency over the years. You can expect to complete at least one PTE essay during your studies.

Whilst PTE essays can seem daunting, and many myths have arisen around the difficulty or perceived difficulty of PTE writing, the reality is that, for someone who is well prepared, a PTE essay can be completed with relative ease and very minimal fuss.

We will be going through the ins and outs of PTE essays, discussing what they are strict, how to prepare for them, and avoiding some of the common pitfalls around PTE essay writing, as well as a general FAQ around PTE essays and the writing process.

It is hoped that having read through this guide, you will have both the confidence and the preparation needed to conquer the PTE essay process.

Firstly, we will be discussing exactly what PTE essays are, their purpose, and how they assess your writing competency and proficiency.

What are PTE essays?

PTE essays encourage robust debate and testing of your writing skillset and creative content writing. They are centralised on one contentious topic and require the answer to be either agree or disagree or provide some form of affirmative.

A vast majority of PTE essay subjects are based solely on contentious political and social issues that are currently present in this day and age. They encourage lively writing while testing conclusions and essays based on an answer.

Some example subjects that could be used in a PTE essay are:

  • Centralised cities are constantly increasing in population to the detriment of regional areas. Should the government encourage people to be decentralised to these areas?

PTE writing is a test of your skills, both in the course of a debate, as well as the cohesiveness of your skills to answer the question directly with supportive arguments. They are a more significant test of how your skills have progressed throughout the course, your understanding of the course itself, and what skills you may or may not need to have specifically updated.

PTE assessors will be looking to test essential skills, such as how fast you can write to a quick brief or topic, general grammar and spelling proficiency, and the structure of the narrative you are creating based on the PTE essay topic. Any updated skills taught in more recent classes may also be focused on, so make sure that that is also a part of your preparation.

They will also be looking to test out your writing process, how you structure your arguments as well as the body of your content, as well as the language that you use, the strength of your ideas, and the overall strength of the piece of work that you produce for the PTE test.

PTE tests can be stressful, and you should remember that it is not unusual to feel stressed about a very complex and challenging task from the onset.

PTE writing, however, need not be a daunting affair and, as mentioned, can involve a lot of creative writing skills that would otherwise not be used. This creative writing can be used to form a sound argument, one that is not just direct and readable but also one that is persuasive in your favour.

Preparing for a PTE essay

PTE essays, like many other tertiary level exams, are a text of the skills you have learnt in the subject and to which you have honed them.

Therefore, as with any other exam, you would practice the skill set. Practicing writing, however, can be difficult, especially if you are void of ideas for inspiration. Updating your preparation for the PTE exam may also be difficult, mainly if you have never conducted such an exam.

One good way to practice such an essay is to list potential subject matters and write opening and conclusion statements for each. This will not just get your head into the PTE writing process but will also prepare you for the agree or disagree, find a solution and debatory content that you will ultimately address.

By also writing a list of subject topics, it is more likely than not that you will be gearing yourself up to answer the actual question that will be featured on the exam paper.

Research is also crucial, and even though, in some cases, you will not know what is on the PTE test until the day of the test itself, research can still be conducted that will benefit you and the overall writing process.

Start by thinking about what type of topics you are most likely to answer for the PTE test, and go forward by breaking those up into broader and larger groups. Research not necessarily what those subjects are but similar PTE papers that fall under these more giant umbrellas.

Study the arguments made, study how the ideas have been formed, and note down what you can not just incorporate into your writing process but also the broader writing style and process that was incorporated into these topics. Ensure that your understanding of these topics has been updated according to what you’ve seen.

Even news articles that cover these topics can be helpful, as though they do not present an argument per se, they do illustrate the facts and reasoning of those involved in the issue in generalised terms.

Knowing these terms will help you craft whatever argument you may need to accomplish in the PTE academic exam.

Creative PTE essay writing template

Whilst it is deliberately designed to address one focal point directly, PTE essay writing does include a considerable degree of creative writing. This creative aspect of the PTE essay will ultimately help you not just form a more persuasive argument but also stop you from repeating yourself or making your essay less concise.

A list of things that can help you throughout the creative process are:

  • Expand on your reasons, providing examples, both factual and lived
  • Using these examples, create a narrative that will help to define your argument
  • Use dot points to summarise any minute details, such as advantages to your argued topic or disadvantages to a contrasting point of view
  • Refer to as many factual references that you have found through your research
  • Use these references to help create a story that will summarise your main argument

Creative writing in the PTE essay process will not just help to underline your subject, but it will also help to make the overall essay much more enjoyable and entertaining to read. Doing this will also add plausibility to your message, helping to assert the overall message you are trying to convey.

In any PTE academic exam or writing assessment situation, you should always aim to incorporate an element of creative writing. Creative writing is a great way to enhance your argument and make it more persuasive and help you expand your ideas.

For really complex topics, incorporating creative writing and thought processes into your PTE academic exam will allow you greater flexibility during the overall writing process. Creative writing will ensure that your body content is coherent and compelling, allowing you to incorporate structure into the general paper much more quickly.

Avoiding common pitfalls throughout PTE essay writing

Writer’s block is accurate and can often raise its head during PTE essay writing. For many, writer’s block can often stop the argument from forming and halting any reasonable approach you may have had to write a convincing and compelling essay for your PTE subject.

Avoiding this cannot be easy, and whilst everyone has their ways of dealing with such circumstances, some common patterns that can help you to avoid stumbling during the writing process are:

  • Keep your main arguments listed in dot point form before starting the essay, and refer to them throughout
  • Always conduct as much research as possible into the various topics that you may be given for the exam sitting
  • Structure in your mind what arguments you will be marking for the opening, the body, and the conclusion of the essay itself
  • Break down the essay topic as much as possible, preferably into more minor subjects if you can
  • Have your closing argument settled before writing, and focus on writing towards the conclusion as if it were a goal

Essay topics, too, can be tough to answer, especially ones based on a social or political issue. It will always help you keep an open mind regarding whatever essay topic you have been given for your PTE writing, as this will allow you to explore your mind and the arguments you will be making.

Another common aspect that affects those who undergo the PTE Academic exam is repetition and redundancy in the writing process. Writing a piece that repeats itself is often the death knell of any assessment paper, as you will lose the more significant point of your argument, no matter how solid or concise your conclusion is.

Avoiding repeating yourself can be difficult, especially in the more significant arena of the test atmosphere when you are under pressure to write to both a brief and a time limit. However, there are a few things that you can do to avoid redundant writing.

One of these is to have a plan in your mind of which sub-topics you will be arguing for underneath the overall more remarkable essay topic. Having this in the context of a list, and one where your issues will be outlined, will not just help you avoid repeating yourself but also provide your paper with structure and an organised argument.

Writer’s block and redundant writing can often occur hand-in-hand and indicate poor planning, preparation, and a general unease with the situation and process behind PTE academic exam writing.

These common pitfalls will be avoided by ensuring that your preparation is ideal and comprehensive and that all bases are covered throughout your research. Should they occur, despite good practice, remember to fall back on your notes, lists, and overall preparation before the exam.

Other considerations for essay writing

Ultimately, the PTE academic exam should be considered mainly as a way in which you can not just get a handle on where your current skill set is but also one where you can enhance and advance these same skills to your betterment for both your course and your chosen career.

So, embrace it. It’s ideal for treating the PTE test as something that isn’t daunting but as a way to explore your skills and competencies. On top of this, you may find through writing a PTE academic exam a topic or a subject for which you have a passion, and it may provide you with a more concise idea of what you want to do as a career.

There are a lot of advantages to treating such a test in this manner, chiefly in that it will help to promote a positive attitude with which you can approach the overall exam itself.

Having a positive mindset, especially for what is undoubtedly a challenging examination, will allow you to avoid some of the common pitfalls that we mentioned before and allow you to write naturally and in a compelling manner.

Ultimately, however, you should always remind yourself that this is a chance for you to share just how competent you are and how far you have progressed throughout the course. It can be daunting but don’t forget that it is also a chance for you to shine and showcase what you are capable of and what you have accomplished over the journey.

So embrace it, make sure you have prepared for not just the test itself but also each of the variants and topics you may face, and ultimately enjoy it. Chances are that if you are sitting a PTE academic exam, you enjoy writing to a certain point, so this is a chance for you to shine through and showcase your writing skills.

The speaking and writing section is the part 1 of the test structure. It involves an assessment of your  speaking and writing skills . It aims to test your  spoken English  with the help of readout aloud section, repeat sentences and personal introduction.

These are some of the topics one can consider while preparing for the  Pearson exam . The topics are taken from  all the fields and are repeated with twisted words  and are based on facts related to it. The only difference will be made by your level of  analyzing and understanding of the topic  and the way you present your thoughts in counted words.

Media is a form of communication around the world. It is divided into two categories: Print media and Electronic media. It influences the society in both positive and negative ways. In this essay, I will shed a light on the effects of media in the forthcoming paragraphs followed by a reasoned conclusion.

To commence with, print media such as newspapers have a deep impact on the mind of people who read it daily in the morning. On the beneficiary side, it is a great source of knowledge about geographical and scientific facts about the world. It adds on the general knowledge about current affairs of the world. It, further, plays an important role as a source of entertainment. For instance, Electronic media like Television and Radio broadcast different channels which assist a person to refresh their moods. Apart from this, it provides knowledge about distinct cultures, social and political systems of the world.

On the flip side, it has some negative influences on the society. Foremost among all is that students and youngsters waste their precious time in browsing different websites. Moreover, various TV channels and internet sites show vulgar pictures and scenes which destroy the moral values and due to these sex crimes are on the peak. Violence containing scenes produce the negative effects on the young people and they intimate the similar scenes of the movies in real life which, sometimes, cause fatal accidents.

To conclude, it can be said that one cannot deny from the fact that mass media in today’s life has become an addiction in human life. Therefore, media concerned authorities should try to broadcast such programs, which can build up the moral values in the society.

In most parts of the world, the popularity of fast food is growing at a considerable rate. Given the fact that today’s generation is always busy, most people consider fast food as a convenient source of food. Fast food can be prepared and served within a very short time, and thus is more convenient for those people who tend to be busy or single peoples who are not willing to cook. Although, fast foods has got bunch of advantages, it has as well some negative effects which should be carefully considered.

Undoubtedly, fast food saves much or humans’ time. Unlike fast foods, home cooked meals required time for shopping as well as washing the utensils. Such challenges do not exist when a person opts for fast food. Despite its merits to human life, fast food poses several health hazards to people. Fast food is rich in fats, salts, artificial substances and oils which increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Well, obesity is also on the rise as a result of growing popularity of fast food. Although the human body definitely requires these ingredients, the amount of such substances in fast food is too high. Further, the cooking method of most fast meals involves frying which destroys most of important nutrients to human health.

The adverse effects of the sugars, chemicals, salts and fats in fast food are further enhanced by the people’s sedentary lifestyle. Despite consuming many calories from fast food, people do not do enough exercises to burn these calories which make them more obese.

The new topic which is not in the list here is:

Life teaches us the lessons and such lessons are key to the success. How far do you agree with this statement and do you think formal education is important or people should rely on their life experiences.

Thanks for the essays got an 82 in writing. Got the below essays recently:

Newly addesd essay :

“Do you think design of buildings have positive or negative impact. Which way it can effect on work and live?”

did anyone take exam this month? if so please update essay topics

In the present world, the architecture of a building can or cannot be beneficial for its residents. Some people may be in accord with the conception that design of the house impacts the life of humans positively, while others may differ. In my opinion, the influence of design may or may not be advantageous to the people residing in it and requires further deliberation.

To commence with, the construction and plan of a building can be fruitful for the living beings there. The reason is that a good and sound design encourages proper ventilation and natural light in the house which helps to promote good health of the people. For example, north or east facing houses as per Vastu science, are considered to be prosperous. Hence, the correct planning of the house is of the utmost importance for the residing habitats.

On the flip side, a disaster in the architecture of a building can be dreadful for the owner. To put it in another way, a fault in the design can lead to various health and mental problems for the occupants. For instance, people often avoid south-west facing villas because they face the sun at noon which causes overheating and harm the health. Finally, it is clear from the above explanation that the wrong plan is not beneficial for the residents.

In conclusion, the constructional planning of a residence decides its fate, whether it will benefit the owner or not. Thus, the influence of design is either profitable or not for the people living in it.

About the article

Out of the four sections that PTE includes [reading, speaking, writing, and listening], PTE Writing is considered to be the most difficult task as it requires one to write one’s own opinion on a given topic in 200-300 words in just 20 minutes. Students find it difficult because they are required to express their thoughts, ideas, and arguments clearly and coherently within the given time frame. The content written is scored not just on the basis of the content generated but also on grammar, punctuation, tenses, vocabulary, and usage of linkers. If you want to understand it better, use the best writing essay template for PTE while practicing.

What is the PTE Writing Essay task?

In this task, you are presented with a topic or prompt, and you are required to write an essay in response. The essay should express your thoughts, ideas, and arguments clearly and coherently within the given time frame.

Here's an overview of the PTE essay writing task:

  • Task Description: You will typically receive a written prompt or statement that presents a particular issue, topic, or argument. The prompt may ask you to provide your opinion on the topic, argue for or against a specific point, or analyze a given situation.
  • Time Limit: The time allocated for this task is 20 minutes, including the time to read the prompt, plan your essay, and write it.
  • Word Limit: The word limit is between 200 to 300 words. Your goal should be to remain within this limit. Practicing through a writing essay template for PTE can help you in this.
  • Scoring Criteria: Your essay is scored based on various factors, including content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and coherence. The content should be relevant and address the topic appropriately.
  • PTE Essay template: Your essay should follow a standard structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ensure that your essay is well-organized and presents a clear argument or viewpoint.
  • Grammar and Vocabulary: Pay attention to your grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Use a range of vocabulary and complex sentence structures to showcase your language skills.
  • Spelling and Punctuation: Carefully proofread your essay for spelling and punctuation errors. Errors can affect your score.
  • Opinion Essays: If the prompt asks for your opinion, provide a clear stance in the introduction and support it with relevant reasons and examples in the body of your essay. But make sure to have complete knowledge about the PTE writing format before you start writing.
  • Argumentative Essays: In argumentative essays, present a clear argument and provide evidence or examples to support your viewpoint. Address potential counterarguments as well. An Agree disagree essay template PTE can help you with writing these essays in a better way.
  • Relevance: Ensure that your essay is directly related to the given prompt and that your arguments and examples are on-topic. Use the right Essay template for PTE for practice
  • Coherence: Your essay should be logically structured and easy to follow.
  • Use transitional or connected words for coherence like: furthermore, moreover, additionally, in addition, not only... but also, however, on the other hand, conversely, nevertheless, in contrast, similarly, likewise, in the same way, just as, so, compared to, therefore, as a result, consequently, because, since, etc.
  • Edit and Review: If time allows, review and make any necessary edits to your essay before submitting it.

Remember that the essay writing task in the PTE exam is designed to assess your ability to express ideas in writing and demonstrate effective communication skills in English. So, understand the Writing template for PTE before beginning your preparation.

What are the different types of PTE essay sample topics?

In the PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic exam, there are two types of essay questions that may come in the Writing section:

Argumentative Essay (or Opinion Essay): In this type of essay, you will be presented with a topic or statement, and you need to express and support your opinion on it. In case you need help with these essays, seek help from the right PTE writing template. You should provide arguments, examples, and counterarguments, if applicable. Your task is to persuade the reader to agree with your viewpoint. It's essential to present a clear and structured argument while demonstrating your English language proficiency.

Argumentative PTE Essay Sample Topics:

  • Should governments invest more in renewable energy sources to combat climate change?
  • Is online education as effective as traditional classroom learning?
  • Should college education be free for all students?
  • Are mobile phones a distraction or a valuable educational tool in schools?
  • Should fast food advertising be banned to address the issue of childhood obesity?

Descriptive Essay (or Explanatory Essay): In this type of essay, you will be given a topic or subject, and your task is to describe, explain, or provide information about it. The focus is on presenting facts, details, and a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Your writing should be clear, organized, and informative.

Descriptive PTE Essay Sample Topics:

  • Describe the impact of social media on modern society.
  • Explain the process of photosynthesis and its importance in the plant kingdom.
  • Describe the cultural significance of a major festival in your country.
  • Explain the structure and function of the human digestive system.
  • Describe a historical event that had a profound impact on your country.

To make this process easier, let’s go around some points and evaluate the most effective method to write the PTE essay in the given time.

What is the strategy to write a PTE essay?

Step 1: content generation.

Read the PTE Writing question carefully and understand the requirements of the essay by reading the instructions. Once the question is clear to you, draw some points for your essay.

Step 2: Formation and sentence construction

Have a clear PTE essay template in your mind for the essay structure. It can be categorized as follows:

  • Paragraph 1 - paraphrasing of statement + brief introduction
  • Paragraph 2 - viewpoints according to the instruction
  • Paragraph 3 - additional viewpoints according to the instructions
  • Paragraph 4 - conclusion for the PTE Essay

Once the template is clear to you, start framing your sentences for each paragraph and give your viewpoints as required by the instructions in the question. You should add some examples in PTE Writing paragraph 2 and paragraph 3  to support your answer.

Step 3: Re-check your essay

Keep aside 1-2 minutes at the end to scan the essay that you just wrote and modify it in whichever way is required. This can help you to correct any spelling mistakes, typos, punctuation, or grammar errors that might be present in your answer.

What is the PTE essay template to follow?

A lot of times, students get confused about how to start the introduction of the PTE essay, even if they have great points in their minds for the upcoming paragraphs. Let's learn the most effective way to write the introduction paragraph, which will help you to build the first paragraph in a blink of an eye.

An ideal introduction paragraph consists of two things - a well-paraphrased question statement and a thesis statement. Keep this PTE essay template in mind whenever you start your essay.

Step 1: Paraphrase the question statement

Firstly, start the introduction paragraph by paraphrasing your question statement. Paraphrasing means to re-write the question stated in a different way. To achieve this, we can make use of the following methods:

  • Paraphrase the main keywords in the question statement. Try to think about synonyms of the main keywords and use them in the paraphrased statement. For example, if your question statement contains the word 'important', you can rephrase it using the synonyms - vital, integral, crucial, pivotal, indispensable, etc. Writing a template for PTE can help you practice this in a better way.
  • Change some of the parts of speech. You may change some of the prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, or conjunctions that are present in the PTE Writing question. Make sure that after changing them, the sentence is grammatically correct. For example, changing linking words such as and, because, for, of, etc according to the statement.
  • Change information in Active voice to passive voice. In this method, you have to change the word order of the sentences from active voice to passive voice. It is a great tip to boost your PTE Overall score. The sentence construction order for active voice is - subject - verb - object. A reference of active voice is: Some people believe that...... [some people - subject, believe - verb, that.... - the notion being described in the statement is the object]. In passive voice, the structure of the sentence is reversed i.e. object- verb-subject. The same sentence would be written as follows: It is believed by many that... [ It - refers to the object, believed - verb, by many - subject]
  • Turn simple sentences into complex sentences. You can use conjunctions or linkers to group two sentences and form a compound or complex sentence. This will also portray your range of grammar in your answer. The conjunctions/linkers that can be used are: and, but, because, although, moreover, however, albeit, since, as, etc.
  • Combine or divide thoughts to change the structure of the sentence. You can use this strategy to restructure the PTE Essay statement. This simply means to divide the ideas and write them in a different order as given in the question statement. For instance, you can change the sentence order of the question statement.

PTE Sample Essay:

Let's look at a sample question statement and its paraphrased answer:

Question statement:

“Successful sports stars and glamorous film stars are role models for youngsters. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.”

Paraphrased statement:

It is believed by many that celebrities leave an ever-lasting impression on teenagers and act as role models for young people.

Step 2: Add a thesis statement:

A thesis statement gives the introduction to your ideas which you are going to discuss in the PTE Writing essay.  It also addresses the instructions which are present in the question. To write a thesis statement, address the instructions and answer them in 1-2 sentences. The thesis statement gives the reader some clarity about the theme of the essay and the context as well.

Let's build the thesis statement for the given question, but don't forget to use a PTE essay template pdf for a thorough understanding:

Thesis statement according to the given instruction:

In my opinion, these prominent figures possess the ability to profoundly shape people's lives and provide the motivation needed to strive for their aspirations.

By combining the paraphrased and thesis statements, we can form the introduction paragraph.

Introduction paragraph for the given question statement:

It is believed by many that celebrities leave an ever-lasting impression on teenagers and act as role models for young people. In my opinion, these prominent figures possess the ability to profoundly shape people's lives and provide the motivation needed to strive for their aspirations.

Following a structured manner can make it easier to form the introduction paragraph and start your answer in the PTE Essay. Lastly, practice these steps for some sample questions of PTE essays to enhance your writing skills.

Mastering PTE Essays: Your Winning Formula for 89+ Scores

Your search for the ideal PTE Essay template ends now! While you may have encountered many PTE writing essay templates, Edulyte offers the best template for the PTE exam. Go ahead and take your PTE prep to the next level with our essay template for PTE. Each component of the PTE essay is explained in the template to empower you to write scoring essays quickly.

Introduction for the PTE Essay

Your essay should begin with an attention-grabbing introduction. Our template for writing essays in PTE is based on instructions from Edulyte’s mentors.

These include:

  • Start with a clear and concise introduction.
  • State the topic of your essay and provide some background information.
  • Include a thesis statement outlining your essay’s main point or argument.

Social media has become integral to our daily lives, revolutionising how we communicate, share information, and interact with the world. Social media has a profound and multi-pronged effect on contemporary society, examining its advantages and disadvantages, and its role in shaping our lives.

Body Paragraphs for the PTE Essay

Moving on to the main body of your essay, here is the section where you present your arguments clearly and concisely. Our essay template for the PTE exam gives you an accurate idea of how to approach this part of the essay.

Instructions:

  • Each body paragraph should focus on a single point or idea that supports your thesis statement.
  • Start each paragraph with a topic sentence that introduces the paragraph’s main point.
  • Provide evidence or examples to help your point. It can include personal experiences, facts, statistics, or quotes.
  • Explain how the evidence or examples relate to your argument.
  • Use transition words and phrases to ensure smooth transitions between paragraphs.

Firstly, social media has transformed the way we connect. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram enable us to stay in touch with friends and family, regardless of geographical distances. The convenience of instant messaging and video calls has bridged gaps and brought people closer together. It is substantiated by the act that there are around 4.8 billion social media users globally today.

Secondly, social media has amplified the dissemination of information. News and events spread rapidly through these platforms, providing real-time updates on global affairs. It has empowered citizens to stay informed, express their opinions, and discuss important issues. People base their opinions about current events and social issues based on what they read on social media.

Counter argument (if applicable) for the PTE Essay

This segment of your essay should have a counterargument. It must precisely place rational points against the ones you have mentioned in your earlier arguments. In our PTE essay template, you can see that social media’s ill effects are clearly mentioned.

  • If there is a counterargument to your thesis, acknowledge it in a separate paragraph.
  • Present the counterargument fairly and objectively.
  • Refute the counterargument by providing evidence or reasons why it is not valid.

However, social media’s influence is not without its drawbacks. One primary concern is the spread of misinformation and fake news, which can have significant consequences. The viral nature of social media can lead to the rapid dissemination of false information, causing panic and confusion. As per a study, more than 80% of social media users believe it affects their mental well-being.

Some argue that social media has led to increased social isolation and addiction. Excessive use of platforms like Instagram can lead to feelings of inadequacy and lower self-esteem as individuals compare themselves to idealised images portrayed online.

Conclusion for the PTE Essay

Wind up your essay on a note that showcases a balance of arguments and counterarguments. In this PTE easy essay template, you can read the conclusion about the influence of social media.

  • Summarise the main points of your essay.
  • Restate your thesis statement in different words.
  • Provide a concluding thought or insight that leaves a lasting impression on the reader.
  • Avoid introducing new information in the conclusion.

In conclusion, social media has profoundly impacted our lives, enhancing communication and information sharing. Nevertheless, we must remain vigilant against the negative consequences, such as misinformation and addiction. To harness the benefits of social media while mitigating its drawbacks, individuals must use these platforms responsibly and critically. Social media is a tool that can connect us, inform us, and empower us, but it is our responsibility to ensure it enhances our lives rather than detracts from them.

Vital Tips for Writing the PTE Essay

  • Vary your sentence structure to make your essay more engaging.
