‘Forrest Gump’ is probably everyone’s “good, but overrated” movie. In addition, I think everyone who is saying, he was not touched by this is probably lying. It has a pretentious story somewhat, but the film does not deny that fact. A melodramatic, fairytale telling, possibly would have flopped if it had chosen a different way of storytelling. I know this may seem trite and unfashionable to say so, but this is just a great story and a great movie. The acting and lovable characters tie this movie up into a tight little package that is easy to swallow but conveys a greatness not seen in modern “consumer” cinema. In Hindi too, this movie does work well.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Wes Craven creates an intelligent horror film with the aid of an imaginary premise brought to life by state-of-the-art special effects and a uniformly superb cast. He uses nothing more than the usual conventions to create a film that is scary and creepy throughout. One of those rare occasions where clichés add to the enjoyment. What is most notable on ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ is that Craven and his crew achieved everything without benefit of elaborate gimmickry or computer-driven effects, and next to nothing in the way of showoff camera shots. It is a film about affects, not effects, and that makes all the difference. It is idea- and character-based, and that lets the audience slide right into its world with little trouble. This is also one of those films, available in many languages, and will be a good watch in Hindi.

But with each battle, William is able to increase his skills along with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). With each repeated encounter Cage and Rita get one step closer to defeating the enemy. The film flows in an interesting way and from the storyline to the screenplay we loved this film.

On one side there is Max (Tom Hardy) who is a man of few words and is seeking mental peace following the loss of his wife and child. On the other side, there is Furiosa (Charlize Theron) a woman who believes her survival can be achieved only if she is able to make it to her childhood homeland. The action sequences in this film are jaw-dropping, George Miller has definitely put together a memorable action film.

सिनेमा आधुनिक युग में मनोरंजन का सबसे लोकप्रिय साधन बन गया है । सिनेमा की शुरूआत भारत में परतंत्रता काल में हुई । दादा साहेब फाल्के जैसे जुझारू लोगों ने निजी प्रयत्नों से सिनेमा को भारत में प्रतिष्ठित किया । फिर धीरे- धीरे लोगों का सिनेमा के प्रति आकर्षण बढ़ा । आज भारत का चलचित्र उद्‌योग विश्व सिनेमा से प्रतिस्पर्धा कर रहा है ।

सिनेमा विज्ञान की अद्‌भुत देन है । फिल्मों के निर्माण में अनेक प्रकार के वैज्ञानिक यंत्रों का प्रयोग होता है । शक्तिशाली कैमरे, स्टूडियो, कंप्यूटर, संगीत के उपकरणों आदि के मेल से फिल्मों का निर्माण होता है । इसे पूर्णता प्रदान करने में तकनीकी-विशेषज्ञों, साज-सज्जा और प्रकाश-व्यवस्था की बड़ी भूमिका होती है । फिल्म बनाने में हजारों लोगों का सहयोग लेना पड़ता है । यह जोखिम भी होता है कि लोग इसे पसंद करते हैं या नापसंद करते हैं । अत: सिनेमा क्षेत्र में एक व्यवसाय की सभी विशेषताएँ पायी जाती हैं ।

शुरूआत में मूक सिनेमा का प्रचलन था । अर्थात् सिनेमा मैं किसी प्रकार की आवाज नहीं होती थी । लोग केवल चलता-फिरता चित्र देख सकते थे । बाद में आवाज वाली फिल्में बनने लगीं । चित्र के साथ ध्वनि के मिश्रण से इस क्षेत्र में क्रांति आई । इससे फिल्मों में गीत-संगीत का दौर आरंभ हुआ । लोगों का भरपूर मनोरंजन होने लगा । नौटंकी, थियेटर आदि मनोरंजन के परंपरागत साधन पीछे छूटने लगे । सिनेमाघरों का फैलाव महानगरों से लेकर छोटे-बड़े शहरों तक हो गया । बाद में श्वेत-श्याम फिल्मों की जगह जब रंगीन फिल्में बनने लगीं तो सिनेमा-उद्‌योग ने नई ऊँचाइयों को छूआ ।

सिनेमा का विश्व- भर में प्रसार हुआ है । दुनिया की लगभग सभी भाषाओं में फिल्में बन रही हैं । भारत में भी सभी प्रमुख भाषाओं में फिल्में बनती हैं । इनमें भारत की राष्ट्रभाषा हिन्दी में बनी फिल्मों का सबसे अधिक बोलबाला है । भारत की व्यवसायिक राजधानी मुंबई इसका केन्द्र है । इसीलिए यह मायानगरी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है ।

सिनेमा आम लोगों में बहुत लोकप्रिय है । लोग सिनेमाघर या टेलीविजन पर बहुत सारी फिल्में देखते हैं । युवा वर्ग हर नई फिल्म को देखना चाहता है । लोग फिल्मों के गाने भी पसंद करते हैं । पुरानी फिल्मों के गाने तो लोगों की जुबान पर होते हैं । नए गाने युवाओं को बहुत भाते हैं । विवाह, जन्मदिन और किसी विशेष अवसर पर लोग रेडियो और टेलीविजन पर फिल्मों के गाने सुनते हैं । टेलीविजन पर फिल्मों तथा फिल्म आधारित कार्यक्रमों का प्रसारण होता ही रहता है ।

सिनेमा को समाज का दर्पण माना जाता है । ममाज में जो कुछ अच्छी-बुरी घटनाएँ घटती हैं उनकी झलक फिल्मों में देखी जा सकती है । साथ ही साथ इनमें कल्पनागत बहुत सी ऐसी बातें दिखाई जाती हैं जिससे दर्शकों में भ्रम पैदा होता है । हिंसा और अश्लीलता की भी सिनेमा में प्रचुरता होती है । चूँकि युवा वर्ग नए फैशन की नकल करता है इसलिए उस पर सिनेमा का अत्यधिक प्रभाव पडता है । जहाँ लोग सिनेमा से अच्छी बातें सीखते हैं वहीं दूसरी ओर इसके बुरे प्रभाव से भी अछूते नहीं रहते ।

सिनेमा का निर्माण एक कला है । यह एक महँगी कला है । एक फिल्म के निर्माण में ही करोड़ों रुपये व्यय किए जाते हैं । फिल्म की कहानी तैयार की जाती है फिर इसमें काम करने वाले लोगों का चुनाव किया जाता है । फिल्म की कमान निर्देशक के हाथ में होती है । साथ ही आभीनेता, अभिनेत्री, सह- अभिनेता और अन्य कलाकार अपने-अपने अभिनय से फिल्म में जान डालने का कार्य करते हैं । गीत-संगीत देने वालों का भी प्रमुख स्थान होता है । अच्छी पटकथा तथा अच्छे निर्देशन से फिल्म सफल हो जाती है । फिल्म सफल होने पर निर्माता को अच्छी कमाई होती है ।

फिल्मों की लोकप्रियता के साथ-साथ फिल्मी कलाकारों की भी समाज में बहुत प्रतिष्ठा है । लता मंगेशकर, मोहम्मद रफी, किशोर कुमार, मुकेश, मन्ना डे, आशा भोंसले जैसे गायक-गायिकाओं को उनके सुमधुर गीतों के कारण याद किया जाता है । दिलीप कुमार, अमिताभ बच्चन, राजेश खन्ना, वहीदा रहमान, हेमा मालिनी जैसे कलाकारों से जनता लगाव महसूस करती है ।

इस तरह सिनेमा वर्तमान समय में मनोरंजन का सबसे बड़ा साधन बना हुआ है । सिनेमा उद्‌योग निरंतर फल-फूल रहा है । आनेवाले समय में इसके विकास की ढेरों संभावनाएँ हैं ।
